Squatting following Knee surgery

ad

I just read an interesting study that looks at the significance of using a brace after knee surgery short and long term. Basically it states that with proper bracing the knee can handle full loaded range of motion as permitted by a knee that has not sustained previous damage. I guess im saying, guys who have had knee surgery and after the initial period of bracing, when you are in the gym dont stop wearing the brace. I know a lot of individuals who have had injuries but refuse to wear their braces in public, the hell with what everyone else thinks, you only have one body and if you love to do heavy squatts you will destroy your knee all over again.

When I had surgery I was actually told by my dr to not wear the brace at first rehabbing it due to by doing so, takes pressure off your tendons and ligaments which you need to build strong as well. I could see after its been healed for a while and say you could squat 100 lbs pre surgery, to start wearing it when you get to 75 or so just to make sure but I wouldn't suggest wearing it long tterm

Of course every surgery is different and if you are an athlete in which you NEED o push yourself hard in which you truly wont let yourself time to heal
