Nasty pain

ad

Can anyone help me out here. I'm checking the web but Im reading too many different things unrelated to lifting. I get this ridiculous sharp pain in my forearm when I do Tri's. It's a pinch or stabbing feeling on the top side (finger flexors) about 3" from the elbow. It's on my right arm. I don't think I'm favoring that side or using bad form. It's only when I do triceps (rope pull down & weighted dips). Anyone have a clue what this is or experience something similar? And what can I do to stop it other than rest?

You know what bro, the more I think about it, the more nervous I get. This pain feels like a nerve. And your injury was from boxing correct? Repedative movement? It's my right arm. I'm a south paw and I rely on my jab to set up the bombs. I throw a ton of them. I need to see a doc. This shit is freaky. It feels like a pin prick, if i push through it, it turns into a stabbing feeling. If i push all the way it feels like theres an acetalene torch on my arm. But why only when i work tri's? That part i don't get. I mean i can throw punches and feel nothing. Do curls, nothing, Shoulder press, nothing. No fuckin around with this, making an appointment.

Damn that sucks! I gotta look into this. Thanks bro

I don't know if it's tendinitis. It's up on top of the forearm. If I extend my arm, palm facing the ground, it's almost the midway point between the elbow and wrist on top. I guess it's possible. I went ahead and used the rope with that arm and tried to feel for something. There's like a "click" when I make a fist. I originally thought it was a muscle but I don't know now.

tendonitis? tape it up tight if that doesnt ease it a little it means its not that. process of elimination bro lol.

I checked out your post my man. Thanks for that. Good read. Here's my thing, I do rest it. 3 sometimes 4 days at a time. It's still there. Only when I work tri's. Strange

Have you ever heard of shin splints? Its something that runners get that has a shocking pain each time their feet hit the ground. Imagine your muscle being shaped like a football. The ends of the football connects to bone/ joint by a dense rubber band. When those rubber bands get inflammed and stretched it creates at shocking feeling. The more you impact the more it actually begins to seperate or pull away from the bone. This is what you seem to be suffering from....pretty sure if it. Bro you definetly need to ease up on that particular exercise. You need not to stop for over a week. I suggest you lessen your frequency of that routine. Keeping the intensity(weight) is fine. Until you begin to get pain relief no more than twice a week working triceps. Use compression bands..one above the elbow and one right below the elbow. This will keep those ligaments pinned to the bone while you heal. Also in this case ice it for a week....motrin for 2 weeks.

Triceps: no more than twice a week...less frequency
Compression bands: same as baseball players wear above and below elbow 2 wks
Ice: 1 week near joint
Motrin: 800-1600mg daily split dosage between 3 meals

I only go at tri's once a week. I actually do every muscle at only once a week. I'll give it a rest until i see the doc. I'm going to talk to him tomorrow at the gym. Thanks for the input my man
