+ 4 Some tid-bits that have worked for me.

ad

Our goals may vary but we all want more muscle and less fat. End of the day we all want along the same lines the same thing to happen (muscle) and not happen (fat).

Product marketing, media, fitness models, Jay Cutler, the chick with boobs galore and the ass that drives you to overtrain just to have a front row show while stairmasters (and you go home "master"......well let's keep on track here.

*Meal timing and spacing is HUGE!

Eating FIRST thing on time every morning kicks your metabolism up a notch all day. Eating ON TIME can be a real PITA but you'll master it (mastering again?).

Eating on time keeps your body "running". Slam a protein shake or protein bar instead of missing your meals. Never skip a meal EVER!!

Drop the carbs late in the day. Only long carbs with dinner or NO carbs. Long acting protein at bedtime like casein or egg whites keeps amino acids available, catabolism down and your motor running all night and 24-7.

Sounds like no big deal but all of the above are Huge. Properly dosed gear will always do something but being ON cycle 365 isn't any ticket most sane people want to take a ride on. Using some simple (not always easy) base principles make a HUGE difference. They have for me.

My analogy on meal spacing goes like this. Your metabolism is a fire inside of you. In order to keep a good fire going what do you do? Feed it small consistent amounts of fuel. What happens when you throw a big ass log on a fire thats starving for fuel? It suffocates.

thats one meal!!!! fuck bro i aint that big and i aint lifting like you im sure. im doing the mma thing and just trying to gain strength and keep fat down. im a heavyweight trying get down to 205. whats a daily meal plan for you. anyone else can chime in with examples also. thanks.

JOEDIEZ's picture

This is a good post but lets hear some suggestions on HOW you guys are doing it. cause for me the only damn meal i ever get to eat "on time" is breakfast. I have read that you should have your breakfast within a half hour of waking to really get the metabolism boosting benefit. that never happens for me. they say even if you just drink water as soon as you wake that helps kick it off. so how are you all getting your meals in???

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

make em the night before so your ready for the day, take a whey shake to bed drink it even before you get out the bed thats one away, then breakfast, then midday etc etc when you get in the routine it becomes second nature.

yep spot on bro:)

i have actually been thinking about experimenting with "next day" shakes. making them at night. but i can not drink the stuff without using a banana when i mix it. i have this thing about putting unnecessary crap in my body so i buy all my proteins and supps in pure form so i blend them with fruit otherwise they taste like crap. i am worried if the banana will keep over night without turning my shake black. sounds stupid but yea. and the drinking it as soon as i roll out of bed??? I have this other thing...i dont open my mouth in the morning unless its to put a toothbrush in it. hahaha. but yea i could keep it in there next to the sink for when i am done. i will have to trial and error this one with the shake.

Hey Joe if you pre make your protein shakes be sure to add a little more protein than usual cause the protein will degrade to a degree over time after its been mixed. Thats a tip they taught us in my nutrition class.

oh shit yeh back then it tasted like wall paper paste real lumpy shit fuck me i can taste it now, never used it much could,nt afford it so just hammered meats and eggs and whole milk to get some size, dessicatted liver tabs by the hand full, happy days bro happy days indeed.

i hear ya, but until i lose all (hair and teeth) im holding on for dear life. I drink it and have son who wrestles and tell him, " do you think all them champions are complaining about how it tastes? hell no they are making the sacrafice and doing it anyway." My only concern is the banana going bad. but i think i am gonna try this schedule thing. im off cycle now but come march i am going to try to really do it right. i learned a lot from first cycle and guys on here so im in gathering info mode now. thanks. I know it says Dr. (doctor) Abby but every time i read it it just screams Dear Abby, so i actually posted a thread for you earlier.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

joe ,dont do it just on cycle get this down and do it 365 just watch yourself grow man, trust me this is more important than juicing.this is the secret everybody is looking for but cant be assed to do it right.

JOEDIEZ's picture

I HEAR YA. I was meaning on cycle i will be trying to get it down to science. off cycle i am drinking my shakes watching what i eat but single dad raising 3 teens with crazy schedules, so my being able to do it every day like clock work is rough. i am gonna try to see how i can do about getting that shake first thing, then next couple meals are not a problem its the later in the day meals i have to figure out. so i am going to try and see what i can make happen. thanks. btw what are you guys making to goes meals out of.

Give the doctor some respect; they work hard for the title... it's, "Dear Dr. Abby".

JOEDIEZ's picture

Hey I remember his ass when he was just abnormal, cant get all high and mighty with me just cause he got doctor status now. we were homies then and we homies now. he just drinks crystal now and we still sippin coolaid.

Greg's picture

I whole heartily agree with everything you said.

...But, IMO, you can eat (good) carbs at any time and it's best to space them out evenly through the day as well. It's a myth that carbs just before bed will turn to fat.

This is just my opinion based on my experience and reading about the topic. Not meant to diminish any of the sound advice posted above.

scootloko's picture

I think it just depends on each persons individual metabolism and how their body stores fat. I can eat any damn thing I want at any time of day and never ever worry about belly fat. I can barely eat when I wake up but my appetite picks up as the day goes on so by nightfall Im scarfing. I ALLWAYS eat mad carbs immediately before bed, still no belly fat. My brother rarely eats carbs at night though and hes got a Santa Claus belly. Everyone is different.

Im with Abby on this one, once im down to around 9% bf the only way for me to drop down more is to drop carbs after 6pm.

Are you dropping carbs or carbs after 6? I.e., are you eating the same or less carbs in a 24 hour period?

Good points thanks

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

On the money for me bro, 6 small meals throughout the day keeps my meta burning like a furness, would go as far as to say if pressed i would rather miss a w/out than a meal.

Trenabolic's picture

Now, now Abby can't give em all our secrets lol. Great post my man, you know im extremely anal when it comes to what goes down the old pipes.

Yes sir, the hardest part for most is taking in that meat but over time you learn to deal with it.
