Domestic vs. International

ad

As being new to the board, I am not sure if this has been discussed before. I am wondering if it makes more sense to order from an international source over a domestic for the following reasons.

  1. If the international source gets busted, typically it will be by the local law enforcement or regional law enforcement. I don't think they will care about who is getting what in the U.S., and would not have the systems in place to call everyone necessary. Especially if the amounts were of personal use size.

  2. If ordering from the international source and the shipment gets confiscated, as long as the order is of a personal use amount, my understanding would be there is not that much to worry about. I would get a letter. Just take better precautions next time. (correct me if I am wrong!)

  3. If ordering from domestic, this is my worry. They get busted by local law enforcement and through their investigation, they come across past orders. It wouldn't be that hard to pass that info to other local law enforcement in the U.S.

  4. If ordering from domestic and the package does get confiscated, how easy would it be to track the shipper down. Also, could law enforcement not see an opportunity to apply pressure to you, the person who placed the order for information?

I know that a domestic source has a much smaller chance of having their shipments confiscated, but the ease in which they can cross check other info is what scares me. An international source seems to have barriers to law enforcement cooperation.

Hope this isn't too long.

If you go domestic just pay for and order it under a fake name and make sure you don't have to sign for it when it's delivered and you'll be fine. You can't get in trouble for someone shipping you something in the mail if there's no paper trail to you.

I'm really not too concerned either way (except, of course for the loss of a good SRC) It is arrogant, delusional, self important and ridiculous to think that ANY agency that would bust an SRC would utilize the time, money and manpower and work its way down the food chain. They got what they wanted (Big Fish) and couldn't care less about us (little fish)
Now I'm not saying there aren't exceptions to the rules BUT usually there's another variable in place such as media coverage or they've been eyeballing you for something and THIS will do...

Yup this is exactly why i stick with international suppliers. Plus in most cases its cheaper. The only down side is it will take longer to get your gear. Which should not be a problem to begin with. Since all cycles should be planed well in advance.
