+ 1 Quick and easy recipe for sweet potatoe fries
We all know the value of sweet potatoes to bodybuilding - nutrient dense, low-glycemic carbohydrate.
These things are pretty versatile. In the interest of time, I used to microwave my sweet potatoes. Ugh - mushy.
Here's what you do:
Start by pre-heating the oven at 450 degrees.
Prepare your cooking sheet - metal or glass; I like to layer mine with tin foil and ripple up along the width and length of the cookie sheet, so there is no cleaning involved when done - simply ball up the used tin foil afterwards and throw away.
I like to use a light (ideally spray-on) olive oil, AND brush on some coconut oil. Once the oil is down, sprinkle on some sea salt and some pepper.
Now you're ready to prep the sweet potatoe:
Quickly brush off a large sweet potatoe using a scrub brush under some warm water, and cut out any "eyes". Dry off the sweet potatoe and move it to the cutting board. Cut it in half, so you can stand each half on the flat end where you just cut, making it stable to slice your sweet potatoe.
I like mine crispy, so I slice in 1/4" strips. Width should be about the same, but it doesn't matter as much. 1 large sweet potatoe will fill an entire cooking sheet. Once you have your yam sliced up in french fry strips, lay on the cooking sheet / foil, making sure there is space between each strip. Yams have alot of moisture inside, and steam heavily when cooked - you want to turn on any vent fans above your oven to take in all of the steam - if there isn't enough space between the fries, they will steam each other, making a mushy fry = no good.
Once they are all in the sheet on top of your oil layers, sprinkle on some more sea salt, pepper, and liberal amounts of rosemary.
Once your oven is pre-heated at 450 degrees, stick in middle shelf and bake for 10 minutes.
Pull out, and flip each fry strip - place back in middle rack of oven and bake for another 8-10 minutes.
This should produce a batch of perfectly crisp and seasoned sweet potatoe fries. I dash on some more rosemary before moving to a plate to eat.
These to me taste so good the way they're cooked, any dipping sauce just ruins it, but to each their own.
Yeah buddy!
Let's get yacked - food is fuel.
