Notified of package arrival and customs letter - PLease advise.
ad
I have a rented mail box. The manager just called me and said I have a package. I do not recognize the country he said it is from. Then he tells me that I also have a letter from US customs and border patrol... wtf. Should I take receipt of the package (I have a good idea of what it should be and it's not gear) and see what the letter says. Or should I just ignore both items? Get a lawyer... etc. etc.

TxBigBoyI would go up there an read the letter first. And then based on what the letter says then decided if you want to take possession of the package. There is no legal evidence of you ordering anything until you take possession. If the letter says they know the box contains illegal substances then what was inside has already been confiscated and you should have the manager return to sender and give you documentation showing you did so. If your nervous at all have a friend go with you with enough money to bail you out.
Possible your order was split into 2 packages and one got intercepted,......then again it could be a trap, .....but why would they send you a letter if it was a trap,.........but the government is that fucked, so it is possible.
Sadly,......I couldn't be of any help.
Northern Gearif he called you and said you have these things, then you have reason to go get them, act oblivious when you get there to get the packages. there is no way to PROVE that you are the one who ordered it...could have been a disgruntles ex, or enemy that knows your mailing info, just dont confess to anything, ignore the letter, your problem will go away, if it doesnt, then you will be arrested, SAY NOTHING! only say lawyer...your lawyer will show up and advise you the same way i did, "SAY NOTHING". if you are detained (highly unlikely) then post bail. you will beat the case 90% of the time or more. cheers.
