Damn dude. Glad you’re good now. Although it looks like you could’ve been at least doing incline bench in that hospital bed.
Dropped to 129lbs from 182lbs in 4 weeks, leg is getting stronger but not growing as fast as I’d like due to nerve damage in spinal cord
Is that literally with no food & laid up?
What happened in the crash mate - looks pretty severe.
Yessir, massive caloric deficit and stopped all gear cold turkey, driving too fast on my lunch break to get a 30 pack on a road I never drove before, back end came out from behind me, slid smacked tree’s rolled and got ejected
Fuck me you were lucky to make it out alive from that then if you got ejected, were you not wearing a seatbelt? Me and my friend on here often talk about car crashes and what happens when you are ejected as he attends the scenes, paralization being a very real possibility. @Mac12769
Still like 40% paralyzed In left leg, strength is going up but muscle density is down
Do they think this feeling and mobility will come back then - is it getting better?
Used to not be able to move my left leg at all, now up to 25lb single quad extensions for sets of 10
Hopefully that improves more and more as swelling goes down.
No seatbelt, and I was paralyzed for a few months, vertebrae was a burst fracture and hit my spinal cord, 7 months in a wheelchair
You’re lucky to be alive. Hopefully you wear your seatbelt now. My grandpa was also an idiot and refused to wear his. But he atleast came from a time where there were no seat belts and then were later added.
Only reason I don’t is cause if I did I would’ve burnt alive, dash caught on fire. I just drive a reasonable speed now, unlike 90-120 on backroads
Christ, are you walking again now then? I bet the reality of being in a wheelchair at first is shocking isn't it, nothing you can imagine until you are in one.
Comebacks insane
Dam bro your arms got like that from rolling yourself around on that wheelchair??
... I'm joking. God bless you man
I was in an electric chair til I got my cast off my arm, I was gonna be Stephen hawking for Halloween xD
Massive respect. Someone asked about motivation on here the other day. Stories like this just go to show what people are capable of if they put their mind to it. Wish you a continued recovery and gains galore. Looking jacked already mate.
Looking Good again buddy - the mass is coming back. I use to be a real arsehole for not wearing my belt, just always came up with these stupid scenarios where somehow if I saw a crash coming up I'd get it on in time and be okay LMAO Nah a year ago was approaching a junction on a country road where the limit was 60mph but I was doing 50mph, saw a woman approaching at a side road but although she slowed right down she didn't come to a full stop at the edge so it caught my attention more and more. Then for some UNKNOWN F'kin reason known only to her she decided to pull straight out across my path as I was about 10 metres away, in a split second reaction I flicked the wheel to the right only by mm's getting round the front of her car - alll the time screaming FUCK MEEEEE as I was sure she was going to swipe my rear end as I went past. Must have been mm's she missed me by. All the time in my mind was the fact I had no seat bet on so I was fucked if we contacted. She stalled behind me like a spastic in the middle of the road from shock as all the other drivers looked at her in utter contempt. I drove home shaking all the way back and didn't dare drive the next day even. I always wear one now LOL
Wrecks aren’t fun
Been walking for 7-8 months, most humbling experience I’ve ever had.
I Bet you look at life a LOT fuckin differently now, especially when you didn't know if things would get better. Did you have to have help each time to get onto the toilet and get in the shower/bath etc?
At least I had hot nurses
YOU LUCKY BASTARD!!!!! Was this the woman looking after you everyday then??? LMFAO Come on man, you must have got a boner sometimes ....
It sure was and i definitely did, was waking up with morning wood and post shower stiffys--
HAHAHAA I bet that was hilarious, Hospital and Dental Nurses are awesome!! I want one LMAO
Yeah man, both. Had to shit in a fuckin bed pan the first 3 weeks. Humiliating and humbling, it can all be stripped away in the blink of an eye. Took legs for granted prior to it and now it’s all I wanna do.
Ohhh man I bet that was testing, how did you manage to keep your mental health straight given what you were going through and the future possibilities? I'd lose it, although I guess there is not much you can do but go through with it ultimately.
Just toughed it out and accepted my new reality and hoped I’d be back on my feet again. Hard work at PT etc
