Lol Yeh I always thought 'oxtail' was just a general name given to a brown soup - Never realised it was a damn Ox's tail in it! lmao

Hey do you tend to find accessories beneficial for deadlift meets or do you tend to just stick to working the movement itself? I've tried adding in other stuff but I find it tends to overcook my lower back and hams leaving me too sore to hit it frequently enough.

kodiakGRRL's picture

give me a few and I ll throw up a sample of one of my cycles ... i always do accessory movements .. big back means big lifts for all three main lifts..

here;s a sample of the first week in my current cycle for deadlifts ... i usually do about 5 to 6 weeks and then a deload
warm up
rolling planks
hip circle goblet squats
cossack squats

front squat 2x2 @60%

deficit deadlift 4x4 @ 75%
RDLs
Glute ham raises
pendlay rows
banded hip thrusts

press1's picture

Are you doing the front squats for quad power for the initial drive off the floor? I find them so damn uncomfortable with the bar across your thorax Lol You must be pretty hardcore!

kodiakGRRL's picture

yes plus front squats are a great variation to use while still training the squat and upper back
