+ 8 Front-squat sequence
Trying to start submitting training logs somehow -
I switched to front squats awhile back. My front-squat workout is as follows:
Set 1: 135 x 25
Set 2: 225 x 15
Set 3: 315 x 15
Set 4: 405 x 10
Set 5: 30-40 rep drop-set. This is the yack set. 405 x 10, rack, have 2 partners yank a plate off each side, immediately do 315 as many times as you can (usually only 5-8); rack, have them yank another plate off each side, immediately bang 225 as many times as you can (usually 8-12); rack, have them yank plates and bang the wheel (135) as many times as you can (10-15). Total rep count is irrelevant - you should simply go on each weight until you can't any more - you don't need to focus as much on time under tension on drop sets, because the rep count is so high and you are taxing yourself with maximum effort.
(Alternate weeks on my last set instead of doing a drop set, I will do a 20-rep set: 10 front, immediately rack and switch to back [normal] squats). The key is to drill yourself senseless, but also change it up to keep growing. Don't even think about squatting in the Sissy bar machine - the only purpose that machine should be used for when squatting is if you're sticking your feet way out and working your glutes.
Have a yack bucket handy - the last sets are ruthless. Especially on Anavar; lower back gets taxed big time.
I posted a pic of my big ass legs to show the difference in quad development, and in spite of the Ortho surgeons who twice operated on my knees and said I'd never squat again (patellar tendon rupture).
I encourage anyone looking to increase the quad sweep or work on different shape of the quads - let's keep it growing people! And this goes without saying - if you aren't squatting, start. Immediately if not sooner. I've heard all the excuses - I used to train with a guy who broke his back and he still squatted. Life is a head game. If you tell yourself you can't, you won't. I've had knee surgeries, ankle surgeries, pins & screws, torn quad, etc - squats are extremely effective; not just for leg development, but for overall body - fat burning, increasing Vo2 max, releasing GH and natural Test; squatting will help you on all your other core lifts. It should be a staple of any workout program.
Peace

If I can squat after rupturing three discs in my back, anyone can do it!
LaTTTimer99There you go! Exactly.
very nice!
i love frontal squat!!!!
you are very strong bro, congrats and nice execution.
how much rest do you use between sets?
++1
LaTTTimer99Thanks - first 3 sets minimal rest - 60-90 seconds. Once I go above 315 I stop watching the clock; if my cardio is hitting and I'm in shape, I can get through all my sets with 90 seconds rest. But I'm bulking right now and out of shape. Especially before my drop set, I will wait until I'm fully recovered - 2-3 minutes, or 5! To get some deep breathing in and get psyched up.
i can understand bro
exemplary! thanks
You remind me o myself preaching to the many workout partners that always quit on me for some reason :). Good shit bro! I have never attempted go heavy on front squats... I think you just inspired me +1
LaTTTimer99Atta boy! That's what I like to hear! Go get it bud!
It takes a few weeks to get used to, but I actually prefer FS, and feel more comfortable doing FS now than back squats. And my knees feel better too. It's all about changing it up. Plus, you will pretty quickly notice the sweep development your legs take on.
waltrthat's one heavy ass front squat
