+ 12 8 weeks to the day

ad

That time again, exactly 8 weeks to the day I got lucky and the blood mobile was right down the street and sent me an alert so I could make an appointment. Was in and out in half an hour.

Wife donated too, that's her in the upper right hand corner just finishing up.

Don't forget to donate.

How fast do you fill the pint? Out of my four times now my longest was 7 minutes

alekaras's picture

I think it has something to do with high or low hematocrit because im nowhere near 7 minutes ,usually for me 15 minutes ...or the clinic iam donating are full of retards!

herpjunkie111's picture

Probably depends on needle size, they use 14's where I donate, and the mobile blood unit only does whole blood. Power red/double red would probably take longer I would think, idk.

And how nervous you are - A fast heartbeat will fill that baby up in no time Lol

That's true too. But anyone who administers their own IM pins shouldn't be nervous about donating, or you wouldn't think so, but I've heard from guys on here I know pin gear but still freak about donating, lol.

press1's picture

Hahaha You are talking to one of them! I'll shoot gear and aspirate no problemo but you ask me to stick a 16g in my arm and lose a pint and Uuuugghhh lol

4 times: This year or total?

Pale's picture

Both, I only started going in and giving blood this year, before that I self drained (which took at least 20 minutes with an 18g)

My hemocrit was 18.6 this last time, at 20 they won't take it.

herpjunkie111's picture

That's where mine was 8 weeks ago, was 17.2 this time, so an improvement. Upper limit at the org I donate at is 19.

Pale's picture

I think your right, she said I was right on the line.

herpjunkie111's picture

That's what mine said too and gave me a bit of a scowl like she knew why it was that high too, lol.

My wife and I both went 6 minutes. I only know because while I was getting ready to get up and walk out the lady in front of me about to get stuck asked how long it takes and the nurs told her between 5-10 depending on the person and pointed to us and said we both went 6. I pumped 3 times every ten seconds.

relationshipgoals lol me n the old lady gta go this week, i was shocked how much better i felt after my last time donating... and outback shrimp in the barby should be on the controlled substance act instead of gear lol

herpjunkie111's picture

I agree, first time I donated I was afraid I was gonna feel weak and drained afterwards, so was pleasantly surprised to feel so much better instead. Best workouts in the month following donation.

alekaras's picture

same as well but after that cant wait for the next time ...especially a week after donating feel so relax !! but probably its cause of my high hematocrit ,gift from my father !!

herpjunkie111's picture

8 weeks ago I donated and my hemoglobin was 18.6 and their upper limit is 19. Today it was 17.2, down a good bit. BP was perfect and will get my free cholesterol screening results via email probably next week.

17.2 is still high but your moving in the right direction. I've found eating less red meat helps mine . +2

Thanks Sam, I need to cut down on the red meat for sure, been moving in that direction but if I'm being honest I crave steak like junkies crave smack. Went to Outback last night and got the 9oz filet mignon and unlimited shrimp deal (cheat meal) and certainly got my money's worth on that unlimited shrimp, lol.
