+ 10 40 dayz

ad

I got outta lock up 40 days ago. It's been a year since I seen a gym. The food sucked also. All carbs and soy. I started a 3 day split today. All push on day 1. All pulls on day 2. Legs on day 3. 30 to 60 min cardio Ed. What do you guys think about the 3 day split?

Should work for a little bit. Once you aren't sore anymore then you know it is time to switch it up.

I did chest, shoulders, and Tris and was wrecked yesterday along with cardio. It just seems like so much in a day but I read online it gets big gains

I am not a fan of push pull days or full body workouts except for beginners or someone with a long layoff just getting back into it. they don't need to do a lot of volume to elicit and anabolic response. The volume per bodypart needed just isn't enough at a certain point and once you start spending more than an hour or so in the gym your catabolic response starts out weighing the anabolic response and you start regressing. At some point it is going to take more than 25 total sets to exhaust your chest/tris/shoulders for example and that is point where you need to start breaking it out into specific bodyparts to get the needed volume.

Glad to hear you’re out and welcome back here.
If I had not trained for a long time, I would start with full body routine for the 1st month or so.
Cardio I would start with 20-30 min a day and would 6-7 days a week, I would be adding 5 min every week until I get to an hour. Then I would just monitor the progress and would make necessary adjustments with my nutrition

Thanks. Good info. Do you do a hour cardio now?

This will depend on my goals, I like to do at least 30 min off season, once I have set date I need to be in shape, I then add 5min extra every week. Normally by the time I get to an hour cardio a day, I’m already in decent shape.
