Anyone here cook one day a week?
ad
I used to do this but i'm really struggling to remember any of it :/
I'd buy a ton of stuff in bulk then every sunday I used to make a bunch of cold meals (sandwiches and pasta salads) to take to work and a bunch of microwavable ones for when i got home from work.
Mostly pasta, rice, chicken and some minced beef.
Problem is I can't remember what's ok to keep in the fridge for a week and what's gotta go in the freezer and which stuff i can microwave?

I cook on Sunday for my 4 day workweek. Chicken breast sweet potato and veggie for dinner. Stacked turkey sandwiches for other two breaks. Yogurt, fruit and oatmeal between breaks. Sometimes I'll boil a dozen eggs for snacks. When work week is done I cook for the weekend. Steaks, lean ground beef with veggies. I have to cook twice a week.
I used to pretty much do the same thing, I find brown rice keeps pretty well in the fridge if kept in tupperware. I typically use frozen veggies or canned, I know they aren't as good for you but they are a bit more convenient and sometimes convenience is a necessity. As far as meat goes 3-4 day max on that, I still cook it in bulk but your gonna have to do meats at least twice a week unless of course you want to cook your meals, portion them into servings in tupperware containers and then freeze and reheat them. That is acceptable but the more times you freeze and reheat the more nutrient content your gonna lose. Once again though convenience is key here.
Sort of came up with a plan having spoken with a friend, cook everything on sunday. Divide into individual plastic containers, throw monday to thurdsays in the fridge and friday and saturdays in the freezer. Will be starting that tomorrow (day off work) interested to see how it goes.
The slow cooker things are really interesting, of all the people I spoke to at the weekend not one person had even heard of them! Bizzare, maybe they're just not popular over here. Will pick one up and give it a go.
yeah meat doesn't really stay good for 5 days , what i do ill cook my chicken or what ever on sunday night then ill do another run on wednesday that way i know it will be good . Yeah the crock pot is amazing as well
AnonI found nothing makes it past 5 days and I have to toss it. Couple times and week and yes Eric.....love that crock pot, we have two sizes and a pressure cooker too for meats that melt in your mouth.
Eric090585couple times a week for me..lotsa slow cooker meals bro...there's a shit load of healthy food o be made in a slow cooker that tastes awesome..and you just set it to 'warm' and leave it on the counter for a couple days. i love that thing
