INTERMITTENT FASTING
ad
Thought I'd see what you guys on here think of Intermittent Fasting as it seems to be gaining rave reviews in Gyms round my way. So the basic rule of thumb is that you eat all of your calories in an 8 hour window and don't eat shit for the remaining 16 hours. Now I know this breaks every bodybuilding rule but I've seen people actually gain muscle and lose fat in my gym.
Anybody tried this and if so is there any tweaks you would add?

Hey mate. T be honest I dont think that it is ideal for gaining muscle, it would be good for fat loss but thats about it. The reason why it may have looked like people were gaining would have been the illusion effect from being fat to ripping up. The decrease in waist size and loss of BF else where makes everything else look larger and that assists in the illusion. Have you ever been to a bodybuilding comp. You see all these guys walking around looking quite small, then off comes the clothes and its like what the hell happened to that guy. Where did all that muscle come from. Its the same deal mate. Simple rule to grow you need to be in an Anabolic state, Fasting takes you out of that state and into a catabolic state.
Ricky BarnettCheers for your input bro. I'm just using this for a cut and man my abs are looking carved from stone!
I agree with you on not using this for building muscle as like you say you need to keep feeding the machine for it to grow.
not a problem mate. you do know that there are other ways to grow and stay lean. the surpluses that everyone is talking about are sort of correct. They are talking about calorie surplus. To stay lean and grow all you need is a protein surplus with a low carb surplus. you will still grow while remaining lean. Its the empty (fat calories) and over abundance of carbs that makes everyone fat. when I get ready for a comp I grow into my diet mate. yeah thats right I gain muscle while dieting down.
Also when you start it only do like 14hours because you need to get yourself adjusted to it, then after a few days do 16 then 18 and alot of times i did 20hrs and it was very easy because after a while i just lost the hunger and my body was well used to 20hours no food.
Ricky BarnettThanks for your response fella. How long did you run this for and what were your losses with regards to muscle. I was told to use this to rid my body of stubborn body fat. I.E lower abs and back
Ye i did it for like 3weeks Lost alot of weight like 10lbs i would have done it for longer but i was very ill so i needed to give my body a break. Also i was training with my gym partner whos strength was very similar to mine and i would say during my fasting, my lifts and strength increased half of what he was progressing.
Iv tried it!!! Its fking awsome!!!! But not for muscle gains. If anything i would recommend if to people wanted to lose alot of weight cuz its not great for making muscle.
When i did it i still made progress in the gym but half the strength gains my friend made but i did lose alot of weight :).
Also when i stopped i went on like a whole week food binge lol i missed my food
I can see it working for 4 or 5 days... If you went months eating multiple small meals a day your metabolism is used to burning it, then you switch it up and trick your body to burning more fat. After a while of this though your body gonna catch on and slow back the metabolism, then thats where you would go back to your normal eating routine for a couple weeks. Im not doctor, and have no experience just giving you my educated guess.
Ricky BarnettThanks for your input mate. I hear you on changing that shit up as my body's a clever fucker and soon hits that plateau!
