Who tells their doctor about their AAS usage? Is it a good idea? Doctor-patient privilege

ad

So I have a doctor's appointment coming up next week and I will be talking to the doc about testosterone levels, TRT etc and I have been debating talking to him about using gear.

From what I have researched, in most places, the doctor-patient privilege protects you from legal consequences - specifically, the doc isn't permitted to turn you over to authorities or report criminal behavior unless you are going to harm someone else.

So I was wondering:

1) does anyone know the legal specifics for doctor patient privilege in the states?

2) does anyone talk to their doctor about AAS?

Looking forward to your answers....

Not only the fact that your medical record can be used against you for employment, but included in the patriot act is a clause where even local law enforcement can access it if they feel the need. I know it sounds conspiracy, but it's straight from one of my last college textbooks.

There is no privacy. Your doctor isn't going to report you for admitting use of anything. But get pulled over by a skinny cop that doesn't like your attitude and that your bigger than him. He's already thinking you're a juicer. So he pulls your medical records. Then they have probably cause( if probably able cause even exists anymore ).
Never get too comfortable with this lifestyle and never admit shit. I've taken some supplements from gnc before. That's as far as it goes with my doctor. And I think he'd be cool about everything. But the records are a linked database now and have little to do with individual medical suppliers.

I wish this were a big bulkshit conspiracy theory. But it's not. I remember learning about this in a classroom and I started cussing. The teacher ended up liking that it pissed me off so much. She was an anti establishment hippie.

you think a street/patrol officer will stop you for a traffic infraction and then decide to pull your medical records?? I doubt it bro....most are trying to make it to the end of tour without being ambushed or assaulted.

I'm not saying it's likely at all. I'm saying it's possible, and laws concerning medical records don't protect us. Truth is, most of the officers I know don't really give a shit about whether or not someone juices. It's still not worth having hard evidence on your permanent medical record when so many have the ability to access it. In many cases, they will still issue a subpeona to a hospital when there's suspected drug or alcohol involvement in an accident. That is a courtesy though and not a requirement where today's laws are concerned.

Understand what u r saying

I should have known better but I'm honestly shocked. The funny thing is I've trained at the same range as a couple of the local SWAT teams and there are a handful of those guys that have to be enhanced, it is pretty obvious just looking at them. I guess they don't give a fuck or maybe it is just accepted that they use AAS?

cltleo's picture

who is "they" u mean doctors or the PD? PD don't test for aas unless they really have to...for example...excessive use of force for a minor incident will throw a red flag....but even then it depends on your IA history and use of force.

THE_MECHANIC's picture

They = law enforcement. There is quite a bit of use in their ranks, at least I assume so by looking at some of them. Not that I care either way...

i agree totally.. I have seen some monster probation and parole boys..lol

I know quite a few that do myself. I'm sure there are a lot of cops on here that order their gear the same way we do. As long as we all tell our doctors we take creatine and nothing else, we stand a better chance. I don't admit shit beyond a really small circle.
We lost a very important human right when all the hippa/ patriot act shit happened. Before that, everything was confidential.

This is a brief summary. If I get a chance I'll dig up the textbook and pull the actual clause. There is absolutely no confidentiality where law enforcement is concerned. Whether they choose to utilize those resources or have the programs to do so is another subject. But no warrant is required.

I found the same link with a google search. This is bullshit!

Nope, the minute they jot anything down regarding it you can expect your premiums going through the roof.

THE_MECHANIC's picture

So the doctor can and will share that information with the insurance company? I was under the impression that my insurance premiums are set by contract with my employer and the insurance company. From what I have seen, everyone pays the same regardless of health - I know that the other guys who are fat, unhealthy fuckers pay the same rate I do, with the exception of smokers. Non-smokers get a discount. Junkies and alcoholics get rehab and treatment paid for by insurance and they don't worry about losing their coverage or their rates going up right? I can't see how testosterone use would be any different.

irongame427's picture

nope junkies are even more fucked, they just get flat out denied, their only hope is this crazy high risk state insurance. Cause if they slip up a 28 day stay in rehab could cost over 20gs easy.

But yes the doctor enters that info and everything goes into a permenant data base for all future insurance companies to see.

I have a really cool doctor who keeps what i do off the record thank god, but she basically always tells me to stop with everything but we have discussions about it all the time and everything. Shes a cool lady.
