ULTIMATE FIGHTER EBC? NOOKA WHAAAAAAAAAT?
Ok my lil eroidz bebies an idea popped into my head last night. Well....truth is CarlosDanger Whispered it in ny ear last night while we enjoyed mimosa's fire pit side at my penthouse rooftop here in Dallas. Dont ask questions he is a passionate man when the moment is right! No mas homo senor Carlos!
So heres the initial thought and while it would only be a trial run "if" we do it we talked about pairing a coach and contestant Ultimate Fighter Syle. The coach would likely be accomplished such as with ulfimate fighter but what that qualification would be is up for discussion. In fact, the point of this thread is to discuss the entire thought top to bottom. Please do not use the thread for UF banter in general...if you must do so start another thread. Not in off topic but on nobodygivesafuk.com
Ok...lets talk and no karma here for me but feel free to hit Carlos early and often. He is my right hand wifh the EBC and a good friend aside of this site...good people!
Let the chatter begin and please stay on topic!
Btw...this would be a trial endeavour in addition to the reg EBC and coach and contestant would win together.

phil113kgI like this idea and read most of the comments. I would like to add my two cents worth. The "student" must be financially qualified as well as other qualifications. Money or the ability to acquire the products needed will be the determining factor of how far the "student" can go. It sucks to want to run like a Lambo with a toyota expense. I know first hand the large expense that is thrown down to get the kind of results we desire.
Here's something else I would like to add. I love the spirit of competition and I strive off of it. But you know if I didn't have the goal to compete then I wouldn't touch the stuff. It's just too damn expensive!!! I could have several nice used cars for all the products that I bought or was donated (thanks Muta and many others). So have a gut check and ask yourself is this really worth it. A little bragging rights or what ever the final prize might be. You get what I'm saying?
BigBmajI'm about half your size and I wonder about why I do it sometimes. The amount of money I spend on gear, supplements, gym membership, yoga membership, food, etc, is just crazy. So not only is it a full time job it takes a huge amount of money. I owner what I could accomplish if I put that amount of time, money and energy into anything else. And I've never even done a show.
Hopefully you do it because its something you enjoy that brings happiness to your life. Is that not the reason we do any hobby?
As for the financial aspect well you're gonna have a food bill weather a couch potato or a gym guru. As for the gym membership and supplements and whatnot, well there's a lot worse things you could be doing with your $.
I do ponder the same question sometimes too, its usually when I'm a little burnt out and need a break.
As for the actual topic of the thread, I think its a f'in fantastic idea.
Straight up facts right there...... i have already had a few jump ship when i have offered 20wk EQ runs with added extras.
phil113kgMe to Viking. I had a student go rogue on me mid way into the planning. He had the bucks to throw down but didn't have the stomach to go the distance. He was so desperate for the results that he grasped at anything and finally got all mixed up. His approach to AAS was use a little to look like you use a lot. But I didn't ask him to take that much but just enough to break out of his genetic limitations. I had another just recently that coaches at the same gym I attend and he went AWOL. I think his temper got the best of him and it spooked him. Haven't heard from him in weeks. I was training him for a show next year. So it's not easy to be a coach cause their is only so much a coach can do.
So for those who want to be a coach take this advice to heart. Screen you prospect very good and make sure to ask the right questions. Make sure that the individual is clear on what his/her goals are and is willing to do what ever it takes to reach those goals. Cause when the bullets are buzzing overhead they will need to trust you to the final end. If not then they will fall to the wayside. This is not babysitting or a day care service but ass kicking goal achieving work.
BigBmajI'm having a hard time thinking about the criteria for qualifying as either trainer or student. I'm almost wondering if a panel of 5 or so well known members should choose, based on what they see around here, current pics, and how much on and off time someone's gone through recently.
Blood work before and during sure would be a nice thing to see what's going on as well. With a few photo updates to the coach. As someone else said maybe Skype.
How about creating two separate 'pools' of competitors and coaches. Outline the qualifying criteria in order to be included in each pool. One of the rules might be that there will be only one coach per each individual competitor.
Criteria may include but not limited to:
- minimum karma
- age
- AAS experience
- minimum number of years of experience in BB
- mod (or judge) approval based on their user investigation(s)
A suggestion for each pool member would be to pick your partner (both coach and competitor) very carefully. Have PMs and possible actual conversations to ensure compatibility. I refer to this as 'character alignment' - see this recent story of the impact of a poor choice of character alignment: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9924206/miami-dolphins-suspend-richie-... )
GearofWarAlright who wants to take me on as a contestant? I'm ready to do this shit. Take a look at my profile pics at least and tell me if you think I've at least got a snowballs chance in hell at placing? It's been 7 months since I've used a thing. I'm ready to BULK.
Definitely would want in on this!
AnonI think this is fantastic.. actually crossed my mind awhile back but didnt know how it would work out
Anyway so who all do yall think would make good coaches?
i would think viking for a start... who else?
AnonThe Pros/Guru. Viking Bodybuilder Pmob Phil
Tread can't since he's an organizer
Members: You, LevelUp BeyondImports Bhuddabody Cobramike Angus Detroitnate Cdaddy Gfit Bodybuilderpro00 etc
There are a few Src's who are perfect for coaching as well but not sure if it would work.
AnonAny downsides you see to a source "coaching" if they're freely offering their time?
AnonNot really sure what Big and Tread would say. I wouldn't have any issue as long as certain things were guaranteed. Like not allowing the comp to be a platform for advertising a Src's products. Or not allowing this to be a uneven playing field for the guys with no Src sponsorship. A guy with unlimited gear would obviously have an advantage over a guy with lesser privileges. And of course you wouldn't be eligible for prizes:) like u need it!
If that could be met and all doubts of an unfair advantage was eliminated why not? Tread has the ultimate say here tho brother. He's the Big Queso of the EBC. I'm the muy pequeño chorizo;)lol
I know what you can do and there's a lot of guys who could learn a lot from you.
AnonDefinitely agreed bro; I love the concept of competition and would like to coach someone if it ever came to fruition.
Anonnow muta would be an ideal coach to me, guy's an encyclopedia...
The only thing that I see as an issue and not to take away from anyone's ability above. As I don't know all of the member's credentials but I think there might be a vast different in coaching levels and abilities. So you might have to eliminate the top level pros/guru in order for it to be a closer level of coaching ability.
There is a special forces elite competition held every year where the best in the world are invited to compete based on already a proven record. The coaches/instructors for the teams are even more proven than the the competitors. To promote fairness and continuity.
I hope no one take offense this is just based on experience where the coaches currently are not where they will be.
AnonYou'd make a great coach as a matter of fact.
No I wouldn't brother but I appreciate your confidence. Those men you named in my opinion are dedicated to the world of BB. I am just a dabbler. My goals with aas are more for work than BB. Also I would hope no one takes what I wrote as insulting it is just when picking coaches if the experience levels of the coaches can match it will make for a great and balanced competition.
]
That is why when I started the new group I am very grateful you came in I promised the new guys I would get them to the members who can help
AnonI've seen your pix and know how much you've learned. If you had the time to dedicate to BBing you'd excel in that as you have in other areas of your life. Don't sell yourself short brother:) You're a freak and a Boss when it comes to dedication. I don't question your abilities whatsoever
Well I can't disagree with you because you know more than I do about potential in this world. Dedication sure if i decided to give it my I would give anyone that competed against me hell for sure. I would hold back nothing I have always been that way.
You know what I could coach other on here and I am an expert at it is paying close attention to those who no better and don't deviate from the instructions set before you. BB is so similar to fighting in this aspect you can't afford one mistake or it will greatly alter the outcome compared to those who don't make the error.
I really would like to see this competition come off and make sure the competitors are well vetted. So that there is no dropping out. Sometimes people enter in to these things on a whim and don't really count the cost. For instance if you are struggling with money don't enter. Your mind will be divided. Do you have a sick family member don't enter if you can't focus on your task completely. This makes me sound like a prick I know but it is the only way to beat the guy who is willing to do anything to win.
I have missed more birthdays, weddings and yes even family deaths because of being deployed. People will say "I don't know how you can do that?" or don't you feel b ad that you weren't there? Some of them are being condescending, so my answer to them is that is why you will never be elite, because you will not greatly sacrifice for something bigger than your own emotions or wants.
One priest said when a close family member died "Oh he would have wished for you to be there." I said really padre did you raise them from the dead and they told you that?
I guess the point is to honor Tread and the spirit of the competition it should be the burden of the competitor to be serious and full on committed so they do not replace someone else who could have had the chance. Because we the dynamics that we are working with here there cannot be an unlimited amount of competitors. Or the coaches will be spread to thin.
I believe if you or Tread need anything for me my expertise would be in logistics and organizing a functioning team concept. This I have done for over 20 years. The premise is the same for any topic that has a coach and competitor relationship.
If this is a competition for just anyone to feel better without a deep commitment please disregard everything I wrote above about being elite because it does not apply lol. From what you all have been developing it looks more like a serious competition for the more dedicated to the comp. I really like this whole new fresh concept and take on this EBC.
Believe Carlos I am not trying to be extra humble when it comes to this stuff I know I am in great shape and if the majority here tried to do PT with me I would make them puke pass out and or cry lol. Same with combat sports but in this realm of aas usage and bb diets I am but a novice student still. Just not with physical fitness :). I try to reserve my big headed ego for my areas of expertise! If there are any Marines lurking they will confirm this about us Frogmen
AnonYou would never have to buy your own beer around me ever!!
AnonI agree 100%. Tread owns this thing and I trust his opinion far more than my own. He will make sure whatever happens it's the right thing for the EBC. I mentioned those above simply because of my experiences with them.
GearofWarNice! Ok so who from the above list wants to take me on? Maybe I'll PM Viking..
AnonThis is still a ways off brother:) We just mainly wanted to gauge the interest of something like this. Looks like contestants are interested but its a two way street. We'd have to get support from guys/grrls to be coaches. It's definitely a chore to devote time for coaching. I'm hoping that we can guilt some of these pros to coach in the name of Eroids!
sounds awesome! ive never had anybody truly coach me in the "art" of bodybuilding. im excited as fuck to get some real direction tho. ill listen too. diet, training, gear. ill do whatever it takes to do it correctly.
Hell of an idea Brother! I go much harder when I'm being lead, just to make sure I don't let them down. When left to my own decisions I adjust TOO much I think! Bring me a leader, and I'll put everything I have into it!
But I am not doing Pilates I don't care!!! LOL ;-P
tread-mThats sort of the thought i have too, more motivation and not wanting to let down your coach.
It would be good with this type of competition to have mandatory updates. Not just end of the contest heres what I did because by then its too late to adjust. From the lil research i've done on coaching some also do weekly Skype sessions to see progress, be able to make corrections and give the personal touch!
I don't think that 'mandatory updates' are a good idea. Regular updates between the coach and competitor should be encouraged, but a requirement to post updates in the forum for all to see isn't necessarily a good idea. I prefer to maintain my privacy especially when the stakes are high.
Yea yea, but when the stakes are this high, total openness is necessary. That way there is no miraculous change opening shots to first week (sandbagging) or first week to the last week (Photoshop).
This would b awesome. It would b the biggest thing that's happen.... yet. U would have to turn mofos down.
i love this idea, it would give a vet a chance to showcase his knowledge and expertise and the trainee a great opportunity to learn and grow. i think that those who would decide to enter this would than possibly get put in to a pool and the "coaches" could brainstorm among themselves to decide who they feel is best paired up based on the coach and trainee. i would absolutely jump on this given the chance.
This is a great idea, there's many vets on here I like to follow. Check into forums they've posted or great advice in comments..a couple guys I really respect are already below. I'd be a willing participant, need an extreme lean bulk this winter. I do my best to gather what I can from you guys but one on one with a heavyweight would be dope as fuck. I'd be a fan of it without a doubt!
Edit; A few women I really respect as well I should add, GRRRRL could tell me to do anything and I would listen
AnonYou give me a contestant and he's gonna be up 50 pounds by the time i'm done. i don't like losing. lol
Team MUTA for me! Lol
GearofWarPut me on team Muta! He'll be pushing more gear onto team members than Mick Hart. Btw, Muta my receptors are nice and clear over the last 7 months. I'm g2g. ;)
I'm looking at a new 40lbs in this EBC just with your gear + and my tenacity!
I pick Muta as my coach!
I believe this is a great idea, that way they have a specific coach that will stick by their side, instead of asking multiple members. The coach should be an advanced, pro, guru member. The judges should be a mod. The contenders should be equal in weight and physique before comp and we should fight it out at the end to the death for gear! Lol about the ladder part.
Im game, coaches and contenders should be voted on before comp to see who they would like to see compete. Def a good idea though! I would like to compete eventually, ill be the guinea pig as.
I like it. It could help people like me that do this to feel good, look good and to have fun. I have a lot to learn and having a coach would serve the experience and the motivation. For example, I'm not looking to get huge. I look to be well... Like nitti. No homo . his physique is exceptional.. No homo x20.
Multiple rounds could have different coaches for different specialist. Lets say it's three phases. First is a bulk ebc. Second a cut. 3rd a full out Recomp. Each contestant has to qualify past each if the phases. At the end of each phase, there still be an overall winner but more still proceed to the next phase. At the end of it all, narrow it down to first second and third. It would take a year but would be interesting lol
Great idea!
Great idea! I've got dibs on Papa Swole!
Yo, F that! I already paid! LOL ;-P
Darron614LET ME BANG BRO!
Lol!!!!
AnonAs long as he didn't say it crying like the other dude:) That dude needed an AI like nobody's business!! Totally obvious he don't believe in OCT:)
The crying is what made it so beautiful! I agree with the AI, but we just wouldn't enjoy it as much!
sounds like a great idea!!! this past week levelup helped my buddy through the final week leading up to his very first bodybuilding show. prejudging was just an hour ago. my friend made first call out in the light heavyweight! thinks he placed 4-6. it was a national qualifier too!
i highly support this idea. it encourages people to meet their goals. and vets to pass down their knowledge.
level up was one of the first members here coming up when i started who would take on any who put down others accomplishments. What he has done with his body is nothing short of amazing imo. Even more so his character has always shined brightly!
AnonHe's at the top of folks I have listed in my head who would be perfect as a coach. I told him the other day how happy I have been to see him back and dominating the forums like he has. Dude is a beast and his love for Eroids and its members is as true and real as it gets. LevelUp is a Boss!
