Help for a vegan
So my 15 year old daughter told me she wanted to start lifting weights. I asked her what her goal was and she is mainly interested in strength. I want to do everything I can to support this new found interest, but my issue is she is a vegan. She stopped eating pork, beef, chicken when she was 8 years old and it has progressed to full on vegan. The problem is her diet is horrible. She is severely lacking in protein and mainly eats processed carb rich shit. I know her diet is going to effect her ability to recover and will definitely hinder strength gains. The last thing I want is for her to get injured because of this, so I'm going to get her started on bodyweight exercises until I can figure something out with her diet. Any help would be appreciated.

Get her into the weights. Set her up with some inspirational female role models. She might come around on the diet thing if she falls in love with the lifestyle and the changes she sees. I'd be leery of much soy protein. That shits bad hormonally for any one but a post menopausal woman.
Break her in on squats and compound lifts. Let her get a taste of it and praise her along the way. Look up some YouTube videos of female fitness trainers. Get her following one on routine, and find one that preaches the diet some. Slowly give her a hero and you might be eating steak together a year from now.
Man this little chick is set in her ways. The whole vegan thing is because of love of animals so I doubt she will ever change. The only thing I can hope for is that this will improve her diet. I think she is gonna do great with lifting though.
Bro I'm almost certain iorngymworks has a nephew in the same situation as your daughter.( older)
I'll pm him to stop by and see if he can help you out ;)
I think vegans eat tofu for protein??? Could be wrong tho
Thanks man. Yeah unfortunately she does eat soy products. Soy is so unhealthy I try to discourage her eating it.
I would think soy would be less on an issue for a female.
The biggest problem with soy in the U.S. is that it is all GMO. The other problem is any pesticides or chemicals that are sprayed on soy plants stay in them forever. The plant can't process it and get rid of it so you end up eating it.
I notice you didn't mention fish, is that a possibility?
No fish, no eggs vegans don't eat any animal products. Its an all vege diet. My roomates in college where vegan, so i tried it for awhile. These guys would make beef flavored loafs of textured vegetable protien and slice it like meat loaf. Why a vegan would want a meal that tastes like meat and not eat meat i dont know. Its a different paradigm.
I'm gretaful for the hind quarter my neighbor gives me every hunting season. So i dont just eat meat. I chew backstrap.

The same reason a lesbian grows a beard and straps on a dildo.
I wish. She won't even eat honey because she says the bees are mistreated. If it comes from an animal she won't touch it. Period.
I hope you got some amino acids around does she take any suppliments?
I'll have to research the aminos. I remember there is a certain vitamin she won't take because it is animal derived. If the aminos are the same way she won't touch them.
Avocado, peanut butter, almonds, beans, and soy chick patties are the protien sources i would eat when excluding animal fats from my diet. Complex carbs such as rice, pasta, and whole grain bread become crucial for maintaining energy levels in this senerio. For me anyway.
