+ 1 drying out - sodium loading and depletion????
ad
ive read up on the subject but i would like to get some real world experience and opinions on it. is it better to sodium load then deplete when prepping for a comp or is it better to limit all sodium? for example, if my target day is saturday...starting monday is it better to increase sodium intake to create and imbalance and cut all sodium thursday and friday and potassium load? or is it better to limit all sodium starting a week out and if you come in a bit flat mix a 1/4 teaspoon in an ounce of water right before the comp?
- MODS, I PUT THIS IN GENERAL BUT IF YOU FEEL THIS SHOULD BE MOVED TO SPORTS TALK PLEASE DO SO.

if you all see this...do you continue to workout during your carb load?
Personally NO brother... i use the 3 days as rest days and to make sure i get no last minute injuries or pulls... i FKed up like that once in the past and missed a show i had spent 16wks dieting for... i was FKing gutted brother i can tell you.
That makes sense...that's gotta be devastating
Advanced subject you got here brother that takes multiple attempts and years of practice to get right each and every time... i suggest you stick to general 3 day carb deplete then 3 day carb loading at your stage to perfect this protocol first!.. when you have load/deplete down to a tee i would suggest experiment with sodium protocol before you hit a show so you dont have a problem if it goe,s pear shaped and leaves you flat on the big day.. its all trial and error bro, i have done the sodium loading
a few times but mainly stick to the good old fashioned way due to knowing my body so well and being able to get down real low BF and the blow up with good carb loading has never let me down yet.. i never use diuretics and would ALWAYS advice against using any form of laxatives pre/comp or you defeat the object of loading which is primarily blowing the muscles up from inside out with the carbs used as the fluid carrier.. have i made that easy to follow ???? taking a few sips of salty water the morning before the show also helps to hold the water in the muscles NOT subQ which would cloud striations and is the reverse of what we are trying to achieve.
You got a +3 for a sensible knowledge sharing post also
thanks viking! very easy to follow. ill work on proper glycogen depletion/loading first. i know its an advanced subject but its rarely discussed. i think people are scared someone is going to do something dumb...but if it isnt discussed no one learns. thanks for the +
Well with the depletion phase before slowly carbing up I personally use no salt with a high in flux water schedule with a over the counter diuretic then closer to show add potassium and my dyazide or lasix depending on the protocol as far as coming in flat never had a problem if you carb up properly it should feel the muscle out nicely without spilling over!
appreciate the advice swole. how long before the show do you pull or decrease your water intake?
