A Female Asks - Why take Anabolics?

ad

So, gentleman. I'm a 27 yr old female, I've dated a few guys who choose to run steroids. I've heard a lot of fun arguments over the years, but reading thru the forum here, I see some things that contradict. So, I figured I'd ask.

What are the correct parameters for steroid use? How big/small do you need to be, how much time and effort do you spend training and eating right before it's "okay" for someone to decide, hey, I think I need to purchase and use anabolic steroids? And why do you, how long did it take you to decide, to use Anabolics?

My curiosity is just waiting to be sated, dear gentleman.

TrenKoff's picture

I use them so because I like to move beyond my genetic limits. Looking normal would make me sad.

When men get older their testosterone levels decrease and many men wish to bump up their test levels to balance this effect of ageing out. Some people just want to get way bigger than they could possibly get naturally.

This has always been a topic on the forum that has caused me a lot of anger, although I have always kept quiet. Too many people say that they are concrete requirements, and often they are a bit nieve. Sure lazy people jump on them early, but for the sake of argument lets say we're talking about a dedicated, disciplined person. Whatever the goal is, if steroids are required are will make a huge difference then as long as said person accepts the risk, so be it. I began using hormones when i was competing in endurance sports. Low doses primarily for recovery, and to build my power to weight ratio (i was a cyclist). Over the past couple years I have moved to powerlifting. I wanted to compete to win meets, against anyone, not just tested athletes. I have since won several meets. I have never been lazy, and this wasnt a shortcut. It was the best way possible to achieve my goal of winning, and frankly the only way, honestly nattys are not going to beat guys geared to the gills. If someone says i should have competed years natty, got my ass kicked over and over, picked up injuries, not achieved my goals, then they are just a bitter bigot who doesnt want others to achieve. I live for winning, and at the current moment steroids are unfortunately necessary for that to happen. I have always been disciplined with diet, training, proper drug use. This to me is how i know Im doing the right thing. That being said, I dont endorse using hormones, they come with a cost not to be taken lightly. When my athletic goals do not require them, which will hopefully be soon, they will no longer be part of my life.

I think the part that your missing is the reason why we advise people to build a base first. It's not to stop them being successful, quite the opposite in fact. I think it can come across that way because people get tired of saying the same old story time and time again and it not being listened to.

Long term, you're much less likely to hold onto any gains from steroids unless you've built some kind of natural base. Look around at some of these guys posts. Gained 10lbs on cycle, lose 9 of them. Look at the pics and logs, "I've run 5 cycles, this is where I'm at". That's demotivating for the individual, I've seen it here and in real life hundreds of times.

Better to hear that sooner rather than later in most cases. Most members here aren't the same as you, they're not competing in a sport like powerlifting. A big percentage of these guys aren't interested in athletic performance, moreso just "I wanna look swole bro".

PIN_CUSHION's picture

you've kept quite almost a year and a half.

dangs0351's picture

Yea i log on and do some reading from time to time. New ventures in life keeping me busy. Getting my PhD, kids, competing. I never really commented much before anyways. I've just always not liked the concrete requirements some guys say when it comes to when a person can/should you use hormones. Sure there are some common sense things like kids not using, or what a person should take when they first go down this route. But everybody's life situation is different and i think sometimes its hard to ridicule a guy for taking drugs only knowing him through a chat forum. Like i said before, Im talking about people that are disciplined, dedicated, and who are competing at a given sport.

vhman's picture

It's pretty easy to see who's "disciplined and dedicated" when they come on here. It's pretty easy to see who isn't as well. I've rarely seen anyone ridiculed if they are from the first group.
Most people here actually give a shit about people's health and wellbeing and will give a hard line when it comes to aas stupidity. They will also bend over backwards for someone who is serious and willing to learn. Not many places like it. If folks get offended, 99% of the time, they're looking for a cosigner or a pat on the back. Not the place for that.

And now I feel stupid because i just read the rest of this thread and saw that this woman got banned, did not notice that before. So this whole shit was pointless

dangs0351's picture

Right. So we both agree then that whether or not a person "should" be using hormones is decided on a person to person basis? Thats what I said, seems like you are saying the same. What I do not agree with is when people say you need to be "x" age to use aas, or that because you aren't competing at "x" level than you shouldn't use drugs. If we decide a person's worth based on them posting a legitimate question (again, not talking about idiots looking for a cosigner or back pat) then it would be pretty hard to judge where they are at in their lives based on an internet post. All I said, in response to the young lady who originally posted, is that I believe whether or not a person should use gear was based individually, and not based on concrete requirements like "x" age or something, that some people say. And there is plenty of people on every board that have that train of thought. Disagreeing with that seems kind of illogical because you can just look through any forum and see it said a lot. I wasn't attacking this board so I don't know why you got all defensive about my post.

vhman's picture

I fail to see how my post could be taken as me being defensive in any way, shape or form. Simply how I see things here and I've been here and participating for quite a while. Take it or leave it. Good luck.

Performance enhancing drugs. Unless your trt. They are not used to get into shape. They are used to move past your natural potential and to bring you to your genetic potential. So if you haven't reached your natural potential you have no business running them, man or woman. If not your short changing yourself. 60% diet 38% training 2% AAS doesn't matter what your doing. They are to tweak an already perfect machine to reach the genetic limits. Pretty simple shit. Could care less if anyone disagrees either. The ones who do are bent out of shape when they are told they couldve reached the point theyre are at naturally. Many run to anabolics out of pure laziness. They want to get to their goal quicker and put in less work so they short change themselves in the long run. You want people to question you being natural before you actually use anabolics. Doesn't matter if your a pro football player , baseball, track athlete, bodybuilder, physique competitor, basketball etc etc etc. I personally don't think an average Joe who's barely in shape should use steroids because he/she lazy and wants an easier way to reach his/her goals.

kibby's picture

Steroids are nothing more than a tool in the arsenal of a bodybuilder.
If one chooses to use Steroids then they have probably reach there natural peak with food training ect..... and then choose to use the next tool available which would be a aas. Or some people jump the gun and want to reach that peak faster

Troll or not, the questions are actually worth taking seriously. They are personal questions with no right answers.

The correct parameters are undefined.

It's never "okay."

I use to add muscle faster. Adding muscle is an accomplishment that makes me feel better about myself. I make sure to keep the foundation of my self-worth in the way I treat others, though. I'd like to enter a local bodybuilding competition when I am ready, but competition cannot be used as justification. There are natural competitions.

It took me 17 years from first considering to first using - at age 36. I wasn't consistent the whole time but was very consistent the last 3 years. Length of time natural cannot be used as justification.

While I won't call any of them OK, some people propose reasonable use, whereas some others propose crazy risky.

If an ex is talking shit then you can be thankful he's an ex.

People do start too early. I leave it to others to reply, but those replies are a service. When I was 19, I posted on a forum called anabolex wanting to go from 150-175. Multiple replies told me to hold off a few years. I heeded the advice and am better off for it.

One might say not to start until FFMI is 25. I started at 24.3.

CBBurrr's picture

truth is there is a lot of double standards on what eroids considers "qualified for steroid use"

You'll find somebody that was the definition of skinny fat when they did their first cycle writing a rant about noobys that are skinny fat wanting a cycle.

Lots of guys really need TRT, but come on.... nobody "needs" to cycle

I mean sure, if you are gonna compete as a pro bodybuilder you will have to take steroids
If you are gonna hang with some of the guys/ girls in pro level sports you'll have to take steroids

I take them because being big and strong and full of testosterone feels great. I'm not gonna preach to somebody that they have to put in their time "natty" before pinning gear. I'll warn guys that it can fuck up their natty hormone production, and to think things through before injecting steroids.

I'll also refrain from giving advice to guys under 25 on eroids, and under 21 on other boards.
Bro-science has me convinced that steroids can do irreversible harm to someone's endocrine system while it is the late stages of puberty.

If you dated dudes on steroids you probably know that it makes us complete pervs,
We would all love to see pics of you naked, you can post them in this section https://www.eroids.com/og/new-wifeyday-coming-in-january-2016.-phatass-c...

I'm willing to believe you really are a female----If I can see some pics.... and a phone conversation for voice analysis.

Dickkhead's picture

I just read this whole thing. That was not a female writer. Not sure what "the guy" was fishing for though really.

true grit's picture

So these are the philosophical questions that run through the mind of a female? Hmmmm.

FormerAhole's picture

AAS drugs increase strength and endurance, and change body composition by increasing muscle mass and indirectly reducing fat by minimizing muscle catabolism.

The parameters vary depending upon your goals. Most athletes will not be taking the same drugs as bodybuilders, or at the same dosages. Most of these boards are geared towards bodybuilding, so that is most of the advice you will read.

The only hard and fast rule that most insist on is waiting until age 25 or even 30 to begin usage. Otherwise, everything else is variable.

As for the "why"? It's either to look good, feel good, or "win" at your particular athletic sport. Is it the best choice? One could argue that anything black market is a bad choice, and I'm sure everyone here wishes it was the 1970s when the stuff was widely available and in many countries OTC. So, that makes it a very personal decision of risks versus benefits.

But that is why boards such as this are invaluable.

Catalyst's picture

I think I answered your question below already about not being a "black and white answer" haven't I? You're after a specific answer, there isn't one.

Nobody here has ever said you "aren't able to use steroids", but advice about if it's appropriate or not is forthcoming. People can do whatever they want, doesn't mean this community will agree. There's no contradiction, maybe a lack of understanding on your part. To give you an example:

Person 1 is 6ft, 210lbs at 15% BF. Trained naturally for 5 years.

Person 2 is 6ft, 170lbs, 15% BF. Trained naturally for a year then ran a couple of cycles.

Person 1 clearly has developed the nutritional and training knowledge to support a decent size. Person 2 hasn't, proven by the fact he's still light after 2 cycles, a poor yield. Person 1 is exponentially more likely to hold onto their gains than person 2 after cycle.

I'm still sticking to my earlier opinion. You're a previously banned member. Your line of questioning is too invasive to be curious. An IP check would be interesting.

Catalyst's picture

My case is unusually simple, competitive bodybuilding. Probably won't be the case for the majority of responses here, it's not a hardcore bodybuilding site so aesthetics / attracting women etc are more likely to be the more common reasons.

Catalyst's picture

You're getting a little silly now and a little intrusive to be honest. Answer the question, you ask another.

Catalyst's picture

No idea where you got hostility from. From this?

You're getting a little silly now and a little intrusive to be honest. Answer the question, you ask another.

There's nothing hostile there. I just don't think it's appropriate for you to interrogate people.I also don't believe you are what you say you are. Here's another reason why.

I'm a psycologist.

You are the only person I've ever come across that can't even spell their profession, it's PSYCHOLOGIST by the way. Two degrees and they didn't even teach you to spell it?

Btw, I've been with Anabolics users for the last 15 yrs

You said you were 27. So you were dating steroid users when you were 12? That's quite weird don't you think?

Dacky's picture

Lol! Detective Cat in the house. I know someone called this right at the beginning but I'm sure this is a previously banned kid trolling or something similar. Monumental waste of everyone's time this. Glad she/he's gone.

Catalyst's picture

To be honest it's irrelevant if it's a retread or not. The topic only serves the op's curiosity. If you look at the other post, it all gets quite childish.

Dacky's picture

Totally agree and that's what I meant about wasting everyone's time.

Catalyst's picture

I suspect you aren't a female and are a previously banned member who received feedback saying "not ready to use steroids". Even if that's not the case, your question isn't one to answered with a pure black and white solution. People should build a decent base naturally first if they wish to hold onto it. There's plenty of posts explaining that if you search.
