Have to agree mate lesnar is way out of his depth IMO, I say overreem first 30 seconds providing he's not gonna come out and be lazy, but lets wait and see any thing can happen with a puncher's chance and a fat brown envelope (dana white lol) but my prediction is lesnar is gonna get hurt and will be WWE destined in 2013 with out a doubt!
you know i think otherwise. lesnar has heart issues??? he has none!!! but if he can take it to the ground right away he should win. and after watching Cain make the mistake of waiting to long i thik he will go right for the takedown. i dont this alistar has what it takes. his last fight with the brazilian showed he's not the striker every one praises him to be. i dont even like lesnar but think he will take him if he can get it to the ground.
Hey Joe, Cain IMO performed a clinic of skills and showed detailed preparation on Brock back in Oct last yr (if I'm not mistaken). Completely agree with sentiment's regarding Brocks heart but FTR I think this is a bad fight for Brock considering his lack of octagon experience and the gaping holes which he possess in his game such as chin, stand up ability... That being said lets hope this is a good fight! And what are you opinion's on the new champ?
kinda pissed that cain didnt do what he was supposed to do. take him down or keep him against the cage but do whatever you can to close the distance and keep him out of his striking game. and Brock felt the same way so i imagine Brock knows how easy it is if you do not stick to the game plan. i think now he knows for sure he has to comeout and get it straight to the floor.
If you watch Brocks fights you will see that he wastes no time in trying to take the fight to the ground. It's clear he knows he has a huge disadvantage in the stand up, against anyone. The question is can Overeem stop the takedown? If Cain was able to do it I see don't see a problem for Overeem.
This is true if he takes him down he has a chance to win but that's a big "if" Overeem is a strong s.o.b I honestly don't think it will be easy to take him down. It's also a big mistake to say Overeem is an over rated striker. Look at what he has accomplished in k1. You can't judge him by his last showing. It's not easy to strike with someone that keeps throwing himself on the floor which verdum did threwout the hole fight.
yea i hear ya but again, i do mma, just got home from the gym. wrestlers have an advantage. lesnar is a buldozer and thats not something the best striker can just blow off. our heavyweight is a wrestler and when striking fails its to the ground and it usually ends there. once a good wrestler gets someone to the ground its hard to get away, and moreso in the heavyweight division. he's gonna have his hands full based soley n the wrestling.
Agree most of the time when a wrestler faces a striker the wrestler comes out victorius. Either way as long as it don't end like the Cain fight I'll be happy.
Yup. Wrestlers and a good BJJ player with strong takedowns can control where the fight goes. If they wanna bang they can bang, if they wanna ground and pound they can do that too. My last fight a few weeks ago was against an undefeated pro boxer. He had about 6 mma fights too. My boxing isnt bad but it isnt pro either. My wrestling and bjj is my strong suit and I came out with the tko in the 3rd
Gotta say I was a little nervous but in mma you have more tools in your bag. You have to be a little good at everything and not just really good at one. This is going to be a classic striker vs grappler and we all know how that ends, unless reem pulls out some wicked takedown defense then he can keep the fight where he is the alpha.
