+ 5 Blood work - high Liver enzymes

ad

After 6 weeks on 40mg of Accutane, my liver enzymes were through the roof... My dermatologist had me run another test a week after this one and my ast was 357. My Dermatologist was freaking out and had me immediately schedule an appointment with my doctor so I did. I was also running moderate doses of test/tren/mast at the time (500/300/400), which neither my dermatologist or primary care physician know about.

My derm had me immediately stop my accutane and I also chose to pull the tren from my run because I have read that it can cause liver issues.

After seeing my doctor, he wasn't overly concerned. He gave me a physical liver exam and since I had no symptoms of liver disease, and there was no swelling, he said that I'm probably cool.

He also said if it was acute hepatitis my values would be in the thousands. He told me to take a month off the tane, stop all oral supps and retest in a month.

Well I have done that and a month has passed so I went for another blood test today. I should get the results next week...

Moral of the story is, if your self prescribing accutane, make sure your getting tests because the shit is serious. It works but your liver is more important than acne...

While I'm not sure if it was the accutane or tren, hopefully my enzymes are back in order and when it comes time to go back on tane, I'm keeping the tren away until I know for sure...

So I'm almost back within range there...

Now just gotta work on my hdl...

Did a bit more research and it appears accutane commonly trashes lipids, which now makes sense why my doc might have not said anything... Isotretinoin causes temporary lowering of HDL, raises triglycerides, and causes elevations in total cholesterol..

Here is the excerpt from dailymed

"Lipids

Elevations of serum triglycerides in excess of 800 mg/dL have been reported in patients treated with Accutane. Marked elevations of serum triglycerides were reported in approximately 25% of patients receiving Accutane in clinical trials. In addition, approximately 15% developed a decrease in high-density lipoproteins and about 7% showed an increase in cholesterol levels. In clinical trials, the effects on triglycerides, HDL, and cholesterol were reversible upon cessation of Accutane therapy. Some patients have been able to reverse triglyceride elevation by reduction in weight, restriction of dietary fat and alcohol, and reduction in dose while continuing Accutane. "

Hmmmm... My doctor never even mentioned my hdl and actually commented that my bloods were decent other then my liver enzymes so I never thought anything about that...

Since this test I have upped my cardio from 15 minutes to 60 minutes per day, not because of this but because I'm working on a cut at the moment.

That should help right? Il grab some niacin from the shoppe today as well... Any other ways to boost HDL?

Adex is also supposed to kill lipids right, and I have found that I'm not prone to gyno at all so I haven't taken Adex in about 6 weeks so maybe that will help as well.

I will drop down to trt if it really comes down to it but I have already cut out everything accept test/mast right now...

We'll see how this liver /hep test comes back tomorrow and going from there...

Bro, your lipid profile is off as well - did the doctor not even mention it? That HDL number is not good. An A/G ration less than 1.0 is a marker of liver stress or dysfunction. Anyone say anything about that? These are not horrific numbers by any means but if it doesn't improve, my advice is u need a little break. +2 for posting.
