+ 5 What’s on your Workout Playlist?
So here’s a topic we don’t really touch on too often.
Workout music, and how important it is in helping you have a successful workout.
I don’t know about you guys, but music is very important to me when working out. Music can make a major difference in my workouts. I try to take certain songs that have had an impact on me throughout my life. Some songs are new, some are old, but they all serve their purpose when strategically placed in my play list. I try to create a build that takes me to the next level as every song passes. It also helps me gauge how far along I am in my workout. Certain songs are placed in certain spots because they give me that extra emotional push that I need to prevent me from getting lazy or toning down my workout. God forbid I forget to charge my headphones, and I’m forced to listen to the gym’s music. My whole workout can be effected in a very negative way.
So what’s your favorite workout song?

Man isn't it funny how what you are experiencing or going through at the time influences what you are listening to music wise, and how listening to those songs can bring the same feelings back decades later.

I could get into bluegrass while doing cardio.
Look on you tube for green sky bluegrass time. It’s a live version
It's already on my Spotify playlist
They did a good job on that song. Not a lot of people into bluegrass. You probably know Billy strings then
California Sober, Dust in a baggie...
When I lived in New England, I used to go to the Bluegrass festival in Vermont all the time.
I'm Irish. Folk and Bluegrass are in my blood.
I was amazed how well a Pink Floyd tune translated into bluegrass.
If you haven't heard of him yet, check out John Francis Flynn. He is doing amazing things with folk, over here.
DamikeI went to grad school in New Haven. Wish I knew about the festival then.
My first Grateful Dead show was in high gate Vermont
You boys heard the bluegrass rendition of gin and juice ?! Bit of fun!

Dynasty by brand of sacrifice
The fly and the bee by Darko

DamikeWe have somewhat similar taste. I'm gonna listen to some of your songs listed to see if I want to add any to my list. Thanks!
For my toughest lifts I put on "Dig" by Mudvayne or anything Pantera or Slipknot...Or Celine Dion ha J/K.
Easier exercises I usually put on Chevelle, Disturbed, Breaking Bejamin type stuff.
Dig is a great song. I really like all the other bands you named. About 15 years ago, the singer of Breaking Benjamin showed up at one of our gigs. They were still very new, but I recognized him because they had recently released their first video, Polyamorous. I called him up on stage and he played guitar on the song “the Red”. By Chevelle, because no one in my band new his song. Very cool experience. A few months later, they blew up and the rest of my band felt pretty dumb for not knowing who he was.
I also have Respect and Cemetery Gates on my play list.
DamikeThat's really cool. They def did blow up big. Almost everyone has heard of Breaking Benjamin now.
This isn't as cool of a story but..
Many years ago I was at golds one evening and these 2 skinny guys in street clothes came in. I kinda laughed when I first saw them.(Feel bad about that.) One asked me what I did for arms and we ended up talking a bit about lifting and I asked them about groupies. Turns out it was the guitarist(Simon) from trapt and the drummer was with him. Down to earth guys. That song "head strong" just happened to play on the radio during our workout. Simone made it a point to get me and my buddies names to put on the VIP list for the show. Never thought I'd meet anyone even remotely famous randomly in my small city.
What do you mean? That’s a great story!!
Ok, you can believe me or not but this is completely weird now. The night he played with us was the first night we played the song Headstrong by Trapt. I practiced that song the whole ride to the gig hoping I wouldn’t fuck it up. Definitely not the easiest song to sing. I can’t believe you brought up that song. I haven’t heard it in so long
DamikeLol wow that is weird and I totally believe you. That's awesome. Trapt def had some good songs.
So when Simone was telling us the name of the band he was in, it was hard to hear him over the music in the gym. He kept saying our band is called Trapt and my friend kept asking "did you say Strapped?" He's was like "no" and repeated himself several times until finally saying, "do you hear this song? That's us." Headstrong just happened to be playing. My friend was like holy shit lol.
Wow, that must have been really cool
WoW Trapt - I was really into those guys years back!!
