+ 1 Recommendations for large cuff Blood Pressure Monitors

ad

Hi,

I am looking to get a home blood pressure monitor. Most I can find on amazon have a max circumference of 17 inches, especially the fancy ones that measure on the way up or the ones that take multiple readings. What do you all have and use that works for you?

My left is 18.5, my right is 19.5, when I go to the hospital I always ask for a thigh cuff. Works great.

16 or 17inch arm i wouldnt worry bro. Bladder has to only cover 80% of circumference. You dont have to use all the velcro. Even bariatric residents we can get reading with adult xlarge. Whens the last time any of us went to the doctor and was told "sorry we cant get a reading because your arm is too big?"

So I spent all morning watching youtube videos and reviews on blood pressure monitors. I'm pretty sure that you can just buy extra large cuffs and put them into your monitor of choice, but for those OCD like me I went with Medline MDS3001 because of price, support and the fact the manufacturer sells different size cuffs and lists compatibility of parts in their website. Unfortunately the fancy Omrons don't appear to have larger cuff sizes from the manufacturer, you would have to frankestein those if you wanted them to work.

also, for some reason many people seem to believe the wrist ones are not as accurate.

Humble brag :/

My arm fits easily into my penis pump... may not sound like it, but that is a brag.

I don't need a penis pump, maybe that's a better brag?

...don't need, it's for added pleasure. Doubles as a hyperbaric chamber as well.

speaking of hyperbaric, I think I found what was causing my high hematocrit, got a sleep study and found I was having over 20 apneas per hour. I donated blood and got a CPAP machine last month and will continue to monitor my hematocrit to see if it rises again.

Yes it does, I hated it the first week, I felt like I couldn't breath. When I take it off now and sleep without I wake up with a feeling of a like having lot of blood in my head, its very hard to describe its like heat. If I don't take it off I wake up so relaxed and it feels fresh the next day.

I'll be totally honest, I probably didn't need to start TRT I probably just needed a CPAP, but I love the feeling the nectar of the gods gives me.

Full disclosure my left arm is 16 inches, but I would like to think that 17+ is not out of the real of possibilities within a year or so, LOL.
