+ 2 Do we have an eating disorder!?

Night eating syndrome is a legit eating disorder. There are certain criteria that must be met in order to be diagnosed with it. First off is hyperphagia (excessive eating from excess hunger or increased appetite). Second is having a 1/4 of your daily caloric intake occurring after dinner, and then waking up no less than two times to eat. Then I believe you have to have no less than three of these other symptoms:

A strong urge to eat between dinner and sleep X
Anorexia in the morning and during the night
Maintenance or sleep onset insomnia
Depressed mood
Evening mood worsening
The belief that one cannot sleep without eating X

I put an “X” by the two that I have for sure. Depressed mood is a toss up. The other ones, I’m not too sure but I don’t think so.

I’m not really a calorie counter, but it’s easy to figure out what I eat while I’m sleeping. I wake up three times and each time I have three Aussie bites, and a third of a carton of egg whites for a total of 1420 cal. I would assume that’s over 25% of my total caloric intake right now.

So all I have to do is say I’m depressed and then I believe that I have meet all the criteria to be diagnosed as having night eating syndrome.

The only thing that concerns me about my habit, is obviously insulin sensitivity. Although, after performing countless finger pokes and multiple A1C tests, I have yet to see anything alarming. I also know that I am disrupting my natural GH pulse by waking up multiple times to eat buuuut…. that’s what exogenous growth is for, right?

I basically just chalk this behavior up to the fact that I love to sling iron and smash food.

So my questions are….

Do any of you wake up to eat at night? If so, to what extent and why? Specifically to feed your damaged body? Does anything about how night eating syndrome is described sound like it applies to you? The NIH says only 1.5% of the population is affected by this. I’m willing to bet more than 1.5% of you guys do this. So is our sport just giving us a false flag for an eating disorder? Anything anyone has to say about this I am interested in hearing.

Also, if this conversation doesn’t pop off…. We can talk about how many times we wake up to pee on average. For me it’s, three.

Bro this is hitting me hard, I have been overweight my whole life, starting to get into shape a year and half ago started at 267 and now I’m 205 but still look in mirror and feel the same and until I some women comments how I look good I still can’t believe that it is true, idk what it will take for me to get content or find peace internally with image. I’m young successful but this dieting and all this to lose belly fat is just sometimes disheartening that I may not achieve the look I am going for, but having hope and faith with hard work it’ll come together

Idk if we ever are at peace with how we look. In my apartment complex there’s like 800 people and I look better (at least in the body maybe not face lol) than all of them. But I don’t think I’ll ever be happy with my physique, my goals are different than most peoples tho, I want to be a freak lol. I’m not like upset with it but definitely not satisfied. I don’t think it’s a bad thing tho, as long as it doesn’t have you all fucked up in the head and I use it to just work harder and strive each day, No days off!

Agreed! I feel like nowadays it’s rare especially within younger generation to find people that want to be the best version of them self physically too! So many people are blessed to have healthy bodies and not any genetic or physical disability but yet just are not active or drink or party is all they do. I don’t drink or anything sometimes micro dose shrooms but that’s all. Keeping mind body spirit high. Working out 5:6 times a week and sticking to diet. And if I go on dates or anything eating clean as possible or workout even harder next day.

You’re good bro. You’re 30. You’ve already made an impressive change to your physique. There’s nothing wrong with wanting more. Just understand that if you have the highest standards, it’s gonna take time and hard work. If it was easy, everyone would do it. You’ve already shown that you have the discipline that is required in this sport. Just have patience and always keep pushing to improve your knowledge of nutrition, training, recovery and the safe use of PEDs. Keep pushing and it can do nothing but come together

Appreciate it brotha, yea I just started my first cycle a few weeks ago and have been making great progress, goal is to just get under 15% body fat, currently at 16.5% on dexscan. Diet and training is super consistent. Feel like as I continue to learn and grow the rest will fall into place. Letting things go and trying to make more friends involved in fitness to gain more knowledge as well. Appreciate the advice!

I wouldn’t stress bro. I’m assuming that you lift weights, so there is one major mitigating/ explanatory factor right there. If you feel like this behavior is having an unacceptable negative impact on your life, then you’re just gonna have to fight it a little bit and make some changes. No big deal, it’s hard, but it’s possible. I have been able do to it before when I put my mind to it. You can also PM me if you want to discuss something that way. Maybe I can help

My wife says i have a problem. Last week we hadpeople over and of course it was pizza HMMMM well everyone eating pizza sooowhat do i do. I grab my7 ouuncesof ground chicken and a slice of pizza. When i finish my ground chicken then i can eat my pizza.

You disgust me with your self control and proper dieting, unless those were chicken wings slathered in some sweet bbq or garlic parm, I'm killing that pizza first.
Seriously though, that's the way to do it. You get the best of both, it's not clean but IMO, unless you're trying to look stage ready 24/7, strict eating is too hard.

I used to be bad about waking up and eating, sweets specifically, chocolate chip chips ahoy cookies - several racks. False flag for an eating disorder... Prolly. But man remember when you couldn't eat like this? I equate food with wealth and success now.

I had mine checked about 6 months ago and my arse got tampered with, wasn’t even expecting it went to see doc who monitors my blood work for me and she called a nurse in told me lay on examination bed in fetal position. Next thing she’s putting gloves on , pulls my pants down below my arse and POP in she goes .. had a right rummage around she did and said I have a lovely smooth prostate. To be fair she did lube her finger.
