The tall true ecto struggle

ad

Backstory is i never ate growing up unless it was microwavable or junk/fast food. (Also do you think that as a base when you’re in your developmental stage will hinder your potential forever by not having the correct nutrient density that you need in that stage?) okay aside that point, I never ate, always very tall and was a true ecto frame with short small core, very very long legs and arms weight 140 at 6’2 on my first drivers license at 16. I didn’t start working out until i was about 20 and at that point I was 6’5 probably 160 and I started eating as much fast food and junk to just move the scale, I gained a ton mostly fat and got between 220-230 and over 20% bf. Again being an ecto any fat I gain is almost strictly core and non on arms or shoulders so I looked skinny fat but I was trying. Didn’t know what I was doing training until probably 24-25. Cut bf and dropped to 210, lost a lot of muscle and was just looking so skinny still at 6’5. Since then I’ve work with coaches on nutrition and lifting, but for the last 3-4 years I haven’t seen any changes. I gained slow to 260 and just gain fat and strength, not muscle, my legs and calves are extremely small even with intense workouts multiple times weekly. Arms and everything remain the same shape, bulk cut and look the same. Only have ran test and test dbol lately. Trying to cut from 260 and I’m down to 240, still lots of stomach fat and high bf, cutting with just test to retain muscle. Thoughts? Opinions? Idk if it’s a genetic wall and it’s my limit, or plateau or what. I don’t respond well to anything, test or anything at all, just feel that I’m stuck

If individual want something it will get. I have the same problem and only confident hard work help me. There are no other ways to make it right.

6’5 now brotha!!! And I think you’re right, takes long for us all, 5 pounds of muscle on me isn’t noticeable but on shorter guys for sure! And the coaching for longer I think you’re totally correct! Thanks man! Encouraging

Hello Sir,

First of all just to clarify this, any body type will have an ability to build muscles, there might be different approach for each body type however anyone can achieve their goals.
Yes, Bodybuilding elite nowadays consists of genetic freaks and not everyone is going to be Mr Olympia, however anyone can build a decent physique and feel comfortable taking t-shirt off on the beach.
The cause of not being able to achieve this more likely is lack of motivation and knowledge. With properly planned diet and resistance exercise structure this can be achieved.
Please Sir, do not consider implementing PEDs at this stage as you are not ready and you will create even more damage to your body due to hormone imbalance.

Regards

Also for you saying lack of motivation is definitely incorrect and can you say where you might have come to this conclusion?

cougars509's picture

You’re kind of jumping to a lot of conclusions at this point my friend. I’ve been training now 8 years consistent, I’ve gone from 140lbs no muscle to 260lbs but high bf, now I’m down to about 240 18% bf. I’ve had very well known coaches work with me on training and nutrition and both of which I feel I have a great grasp on. I have an endocrinologist I’ve been going to that has me on trt since even at my age i was barely above 200 test naturally.

My discussion is on genetic ability for myself and why I’m not moving farther. I’ve tracked and hit macros for years and only might have a cheat once a week for one meal if I’m still progressing towards what I’m trying to accomplish at that point. I’ve tried all nutrition from high fats and low carbs to the opposite, I’ve tried strength training, high volume, heavy weight, everything. What I’m saying is I feel there is a point or wall i hit that for the last year or two Ive yet to see much in gains, ive tried staying lean and slow gaining, I’ve tried bulking and cutting I’ve tried it all, again with coaches that are nationwide known, and all I get is them saying some people genetically have different limitations and respond differently and have different potential. I get the “well you got height genetics but bodybuilding isn’t in your make up”

I don't particularly like my body type because I gain fat very easily but if I used that as an excuse as to why I'm not getting my desired results I'd call it a day and eat pizza and watch TV all day .
A lot of us probably aren't happy with our body type but that means you just have to work harder to get the results you want , not just give up .

cougars509's picture

It’s not that I gain fat easy or anything I’m just saying I don’t respond to any steroids, I destroy legs, nutrition has been perfect with coaching and I can get really lean but I just can’t put on quality muscle with anything I do, I’m 100 pounds over what I graduated high school at and still have pretty damn skinny legs and I hit them 2-3x a week and I’ve tried strict conventional low reps or hIgh reps and all

Bearded_muscle's picture

It sounds a little like you’ve been focused on dirty bulking and crash dieting which will not give you the results you’re looking for. It may help to stop looking at bulking and cutting phases and just focus on improvements. Drop your fat till you can see your abs then maintain that while slowly bringing up your strength. Taller guys need to eat more but that doesn’t mean more crap it means more quality calories.

Hey I wrote that late last night while half awake so I left some out. The last couple years I’ve actually worked with several coaches that have pro athletes, I’ve followed their meal plans and workouts, whenever I gain weight now the surplus is always in calculated and tracked “clean” calories that go with my macro needs. When I cut like I am now, I’ve dropped 20 pounds slowly over 3.5 months so far, I’ve been going really slow and bringing down carbs. I can’t gain muscle mass on my legs or arms at all it seems. I’ve tried everything, cycles don’t seem to hit my receptors either

Bearded_muscle's picture

So you’re following professional bodybuilding training programs and eating professional bodybuilding meal plans and not making gains? And steroids don’t work on you? Frankly my brother that sounds very hard to believe. But shit, your genetics may be that poor in that department. If so, you’re gonna have to come to terms with that.
To quote my boy Rich Piana, if six meals a day won’t put on mass, make it 8, 9, or 10. If that’s adding fat add and hour or two or three of cardio in addition.

cougars509's picture

Haha I mean people make a professional coach seem like a miracle pill, they use what they’ve known to work and try learning your body and implementing and adapting both together. Spinach is spinach whether it’s told to be eaten or made on my own meal plan, but yes I’ve working 1 on 1 with 3 very well know to local and national level competitors. Maybe working with them 4 months each didn’t give enough time to see out their plans, but for me each time it seems like they struggle to find what works. They keep me more strict and tight on my choices for my macros, but I
Hit them either way, hit my cardio to time, and hit my workouts. Cycles to me are 400-500 weekly test e and dbol at 50-100 daily for bulking or just 400 test e weekly for cutting. Upping the dose might be the next moves

Bearded_muscle's picture

Not a miracle pill but they know what works. Dieting isn’t very complex. You try eating ten oz of steak 8 times a day? That gets me growin. Even off cycle.

cougars509's picture

I also right now am cutting to get really dialed in with my bodyfat and then check bf in check while gaining again

cougars509's picture

Haha that’s 3-4K calories right there! You keep bodyfat minimal while doing that??

Bearded_muscle's picture

Add 1k cals of cardio fasted if you need to keep fat down. Or just embrace the bulk. I’ll get up to 250-260 20% then cut down

cougars509's picture

Gonna lean the hell down and then do that, see how I can do. It’s a battle man. I swear

Makwa's picture

The last couple years I’ve actually worked with several coaches that have pro athletes, I’ve followed their meal plans and workouts,

If you are not satisfied with the results after several years following these coaches advice, there is probably not much else you can do and you will have to be happy with where you are now.

cougars509's picture

So just genetically that’s just in my cards, just will always have skinny limbs and not really put on much more solid lean muscle? I’ve gained probably about 15lbs or lean solid muscle mass the last 4-5 years, by numbers that’s extremely little and with taking cycles it’s just a bummer when I know I’m giving a lot. I’ll never give up but just want to have expectations that don’t break me down when I can’t make significant progress
