+ 4 Prison workouts without weights
Just wanted to post a topic I was reminded of from someone who had told friends of my size after being incarcerated. Without much detail ive made alot of mistakes in my life( who hasn't) but on more than one occasion my way of life ended in a several year sentence(s) the one positive I took away physically was maintaining size.
I was a straight up juicer for years at an early age before going in but I swear that the size I have today I owe alot to a although horrible diet was high in carbs and only enough protein to keep from deteriorating lol I did an exercise regime that was disciplined and mandatory. It consisted of bar work, pull ups of different varieties of grip and sets and an everyday to everyother day push up routine in the cell of high reps 200+.
Things have changed dramatically as I have a family now train at a pricey well known gym but the one thing I always go back to is pull ups and push ups I know this is nothing new! Or grounbreaking advice, but for those who are constantly using machines or cables and of course iron, the addition of these workouts bring a look and density that is keepable throughout your life not to mention keeps you in shape, im over 305 lbs now im not competition shredded but I am huge and muscular and have been over 280 year round for over a decade.
And yeah I ate bullshit lol top ramen , honey buns etc. But when you are put in that environment and routine all you will do is grow! All my love and respect to my eroid brothers on here and anyone with a similar story, I always remember my bar work and push ups and do them twice a week still religiously :-) thanks for listening and hope this helps.

Yukon_JackGlad to see one more good guy out that changed his life. That place will make u or break u!!
They have weights in the prisons I was in. my state still has weight pits. I went in weighing 135. That’s where I started working out. It changed my life. I stopped using dope and All I wanted to do was work out. Fortunately I had a friend in there that was a bodybuilder and showed me how to diet and train. Wish I could find him to thank him for showing me the way. Believe me I tried. I came out weighing 174. And That was from eating shitty prison food. Glad your home. I did right with my second chance too.
i too went thru the same transformation bro (3 years) and i can say that working out has replaced my dope use. in the big picture prison helped me alot.. hope the best for you on your journey!
I feel ya. My high now is the gym. Plus I love the way I look at the beach with my shirt off. My gf loves it to. Way more confident. I’m struggling now with working 70 hours a week for months at a time but when that’s over I’ll get bigger. More gym time. Now I’m just trying to maintain
taco_supremewhat was your routine like and how long did you spend there?
I spent six years and four months inside. My routine was erratic because of limited weights and crowded weight pit . I would start with back on Monday because everybody wanted to do chest on Monday. It was the usual. Pull-ups bent over rows one arm dumbbell rows. The hard thing was the food there. It wasn’t the best. It’s hard to gain weight on it.
Did you manage to get hold of any gear inside? Or is that pure myth +
When I got sent to prison for a year I told myself I would come out better in everyway. I had a routine of 1065 pushups,sit-ups, squats on M,W,F. I would make a little circuit in the morning do a circuit of 200 reg pushup. Lunch 200 incline pushup. Dinner 200 decline pushup. I usually would do 50 a set then go to sit up and then squat. And before bed do a 30 or 35 walkdown and after every 5th set change the type of pushup. On T, TH, Sat. I would do 100 pullups and 100 chinups with a good 5 mile run and then at night we made a water bag with a trashbag and laundry bag for curls and rows. I wasnin the army for 6 years and deployed twice and I have to say that I was in better shape when I left prison than in the army. Really prison got me back into working out.
Awesome, used a negative as motivation! Some just sit and don't do s#&t , we have the same mindset!
taco_supremekali muscle (on social media) says that in prison he would workout with someone else and they would workout using garbage bags and the others resistance against it. I feel like inmates wouldn't have access to garbage bags
Inmates are the ones who take out the trash in every institution ive been in. Them COs aint gonna touch a trash bag full of garbage. So definatly they have constant access to trash bags..
They even taked.the weights away because he came to big in prison the guards whete scared of him i dont like him young people wanne get jacked as him but hes not an example for the youths
Actually one of the easier things too get, porters or workers always have to change bags out theres usually a second one underneath for grabs to the guys who lift lol still time consuming filling water bags in the cell, they pop, get taken etc.all that to get a pump haha im familiar with the institution he(kali) did most his time, lot of time in the cell, gotta do something to not break mentally.
CDC has removed the weights at most facilities. I know of guys in there who can do 20 sets of 20 pull ups (naturally) +1 for turning things around
Yep, they took them out years ago. Only a few work/fire camps with minimal equipment, cables one or two benches etc. Sucks lol. Thanks brother!
4 years in a Federal penitentiary. That water bag is king !
Dang I thought you guys still had weights in the feds, shitty. Hell yeah water bag curls, lateral delt raises, tri extensions everything haha glad youre out brother! Much love and respect.
Been there brother, pull-ups 15 different ways two hours straight, the push ups the bench machine that we’d use to squat but I agree it definitely disciplines you. I still smash the pull-ups on back day, thickness and my width comes solely from that.
15 different ways lol amen. Glad you are out on track brother!
Same to you my man, it saved my life.
Pull-ups and Chins are the best back developer I’ve found. I always do them first on Back day.
I suppose being a grunt marine was in similarity to being incarcerated except the fact that people incarcerated probably had a little more freedom. (I've never been incarcerated, so it's just a guess) anyways when in the field for months and months at a time it was common to do similar excersises like curling sand bags, crate dips, military press with any thing you can press including but not limited to your weapon, ammo can shrugs, ammo can lunges, ect. We did of course have cold weather MREs available which were roughly 1400 calories 90 grams of fat and 50ish grams of protein which created another workout in its self when you went to take a shit.
Yep, using anything you could get your hands on definitely the same sand and water bags for sure! Btw thanks for serving our country brother!
Great contribution bro. Pull up are the one
Thanks bro
My Little cousin just did 10 years and came out jacked. I was actually shocked but the workouts were very effective.
Nice! I cant count how many guys I watched go in hating working out or shot out and get it together and make gains. I keep a hatred for that place in me everyday and use as motivation, and a pull up bar creates a grip and back thickness that is unmatched as well as different close and wide push ups still a great addition and triggers a huge muscle response to those who dont include them often. All my respect to you and your cousin bro!
I’ve never been in prison but my back was built on pull-ups.
Amen, I think even my forearms were too lol
