+ 7 Kibby shepherds pie ;)

ad

Hi guys

Just a quick one for the good old bulking season.

This is a shepherds pie I make for my post workout meal 3 × a week. You will need............

1× diced onion
1× lb of minced beef or you can use turkey mince.
6× nice size potatoes or better yet sweet potatoes
1× hand full of broccoli
2× chopped carrots
4× stickers of asparagus.

Chop the ingredients how you prefer. Cook the meat first (always).
Add beef stock or gravey to the boiled veggies and cooked mince.

Mash potatoes and spread over your cooked ingredients in a oven pot. Remove when golden brown and if you prefer add cheese.

Enjoy gents stay safe ;)

Here's my mom's recipe, I tweaked it some and added the cheats for quicker prep time.

Ingredients

• 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and quartered
Or substitute premade mashed potatoes
• 1 stick of butter
• 1 medium onion, chopped
• 1-2 cups vegetables—diced carrots, corn, peas
Or substitute frozen mixed vegetables
• 1 1/2 lbs ground round beef
Or substitute lamb or lamb and beef
• 1/2 cup beef broth
• 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
• Salt, pepper, other seasonings of choice
• 2 tablespoons clear jel or equivalent of corn starch

Cook

• Preheat oven to 400°F.
• Boil & mash the potatoes: Add 4 tbsp butter and some milk, season with salt & pepper (skip if using premade)
• Sauté vegetables: While the potatoes are cooking, melt 4 tablespoons of the butter in a large pan on medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until tender, about 6 to 10 minutes.
• Add the ground beef, then Worcestershire sauce and broth: Add ground beef with the onions and vegetables. Cook until no longer pink. Season with salt and pepper.
• Add the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth.
• Add the clear jel or cornstarch: Bring the broth to a simmer & reduce heat to low. Cook uncovered for 10 minutes, adding more beef broth if necessary, to keep the meat from drying out.
• Put the meat & potatoes in a casserole dish: Spread the beef mixture in an even layer in a large baking dish (8x13 casserole).
• Spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the beef. Rough up the surface of the mashed potatoes with a fork so there are peaks that will get well browned.
• Bake in oven: Place in oven and cook about 30 minutes until browned and bubbling. For browner potatoes, broil for the last few minutes.

I love me some shepards pie. Neat thing is, like meatloaf, the recipes are very forgiving. You can add anything you like and it will always taste good.

I've never considered broccoli in a shepards pie, I'm going to try one with broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots to see how that turns out. (usually it's corn peas and carrots)

Try it with bison seasoned with a little cinnamon, and mashed sweet potatoes boiled in orange juice before you mash’em.
Can’t go wrong with meat an potatoes brother!
