favorite type of steak for meal prep

ad

i have always liked flank steak because its pretty lean, easy to cook, and doesnt dry out...what do you guys like?

Cheapest lean beef I get from a local butcher is usually steak mince. Just make it in to burgers. No frills just cheap

Ribeye, NY Strip and sometimes T-bones. Grass fed only of course. The fat from grass fed is actually good for you with its high omega-3 content. Trim the excess off after it is cooked of course.

Hello Sir,

Prefer mince as find it easier to digest. Normally take leanest beef and turkey mince and mix them up, this is especially great option for contest prep as never get bored of it.
Stake however feels very heavy on my stomach and is very occasional thing.

Regards

Agree with the flank steak. I’ll do a spice rub 6 to 10 hours before cooking of olive oil, onion powder, garlic powder, course ground black pepper and a little sea salt (add crushed red pepper for spice). I then let it sit on the counter while the smoker is heating up to bring the meat to room temperature, cook at 450 degrees 8 minutes on each side. Comes out rare. I like mine still mooing.

Same as beard. Round steak. We grind it in the blender. As far as eating out Outbacks top sirloin is hard to beat and pretty low in fat. I only eat beef twice a week at the most.

Never tried the blender, do you need a special attachment or blade? Or will your standard $50 blender do the trick?

She used to use the food processor with chopping blade but now she uses kitchen aid meat grinder attachment on her kitchen aid mixer. Much cheaper than 97% lean burger.

fine filet steak stripes, served ready to eat. I put it in my box with 200g rice and a few vegetables, perfect meal to go.

I used to grind top round because it’s cheap and lean as hell. I think ground is the way to go if you’re trying to keep it lean because the lean steaks dry the hell out and my jaw pumps on cycle get to be ridiculous.
These days I’ll account for the fat in the steak and use it as a high fat zero carb refeed meal maybe once every other week before bed. I’ll eat a nice porterhouse, or if I wanna get fancy a couple ribeye cap steaks fried in butter and deglazed with bourbon and beef stock. Fuck yeah.

leanbulk819's picture

I don’t really like the taste of ground quite as much

Bearded_muscle's picture

I agree, it’s just for practicality that you grind it. Less chewing and you digest ground meats better.
