Weight loss and loose skin..

ad

I’ve been dieting for two weeks (not a New Years resolution, just coincidence I swear) and it’s been working ok so far. I went from 310 to 299. I stopped powerlifting almost two years ago due to injuries but have kept some of the muscle from it. I haven’t had my bf% measured but at a height of 6’2 I think I might be 210-220 lbs of lean mass. I’m worried about loose skin though. If I no doubt will have loose skin that won’t deter me from dieting, I’m just curious if I’ll have any or if anybody here has dealt with loose skin. How much weight did you lose to get loose skin? Any way to prevent it? If I do get some will any of it tighten up? Any advice, knowledge, or thoughts is appropriated.

I know this thread is old... but people read this stuff ya know... lol
Did you know as you gain fat your gh lowers... I think getting your gh in a young normal level would be very helpful to tighten the skin as you loose the weight.

hi, I ve gone through your explanation and other comments,
Once I went to a doc to help me out to solve the same problem u mentioned,
After a few tests she said that my body suffering from water shortage and the amount of the water I consume weren't enough to support to evacuate the fat that I lose during my diet.
So what I would recommend you is be careful about consuming adequate amount of water to evacuate the fat that you burn due to your diet and exercise.

I lost 62lb in 4 month going from over 20st to under 16st, I was about 30yr old at the time. I had no real loose skin but it did seem off when I did press-ups, within 12 month it had totally disappeared. Obviously everyone is different.

There’s a great lotion at just about every store called Nivea with Q-10 use that and if your really worried get some kind of compression garment that’ll do the trick. I’ve had 4 kids, if there’s one thing I know it’s how to avoid sagging skin.

When I dieted down to a 28" waist I had loos skin around my belly. I drank a lot of water and took collagen. The collagen seemed to help a lot.

Exactly, collagen is what helps keep the skin healthy along with plenty of water.

10 pounds in a month is not too much. You need to consider half of that is water weight and the rate you're dropping is bound to slow down over the next month. Loose skin should not be a worry if you are staying within 2 pounds lost per week.

Keep it slow and steady for success and you're less likely to rebound. Make your weekly goal to lose no more than 2 pounds per week.

If you're lifting and adding muscle you might not even see the scale move so make sure you're taking pics and measurements along the way.

IF losing a lot of weight, I think the key is to lose the weight at a slow consistent pace to help prevent/minimize loose skin

that is damn true, it can be frustrating but when I first started I stayed at 190lb for the longest time working my ass off. It was not until I dropped the cardio, that I started actually gaining noticeable weight.

Everyone is different man. I wouldnt worry about it... you might get it you might not

Two things to consider. #1 is age, as we age our skin looses its elasticity. Secondly, when skin is stretched to extremes it also will loose some of its ability to “snap” back.
