Weight loss

ad

Been working out for a about 4 months but not been very successful with shredding fat. My job doesnt allow me the time to eat like I need to. My workout schedule is 4-5 days a week and I eat prior to hitting the gym and I do super sets to keep the intensity and heart rate up. Still losing weight isnt going as planned. Any suggestions on something to take and an amount, frequency etc?

Get a stricked diet goin.
4 Months is not long enuf.
Its not a sprint its a marathon.
Drugs arnt the answer diet is.

100% diet is the issue here. Need to track your cals/macros and make sure you are hitting at least 500 cals below your TDEE. You are just winging it with the diet and that does not work as you can clearly see. If you are consistently hitting your calorie goal of 500-750 cals below your TDEE you should have dropped at least 20lbs over a 4 month time frame. Until you actually start tracking your cals so you know how much you are eating you are just going to be pissing in the wind. Trying to take something isn't going to matter either until you have this diet figured out.

Here is something to get you started. Lots more in my profile so check it out if you need more help. Bottom line though, start tracking your cals unless you like pissing into the wind.

So, maybe I should stop worrying about doing TOO MUCH cardio and maybe do an hour 4 days a week?

Sam I Am's picture

I'm going to try this very soon.

I typically do pure raw protein and PB for breakfast, couple cans of tuna for lunch, water all day, at least a gallon. Supper if I'm not able to prep a meal the night before I'll do a chicken, tuna or some sort of flat bread sub. I also do about 30 minutes of cardio after working out. Anyhow, my question was is there anything out there to help accelerate the fat loss. I was asking about something to just hit some juice at this point.

press1's picture

Not that I'm a guru on losing weight or dieting as I have to do the opposite - But if your job doesn't allow much time for eating wouldn't it provide the ideal scenario for just having a protein shake with zero sugar or carbs in it? You'd soon lose fat if you only did this throught the majority of the day I'd of thought.

Ragingbull82's picture

I've considered a protein shake during lunch but for the last week I've been trying to skip my tuna lunch and only do breakfast and dinner as to get some fasting in and keep my carb intake low. One would think i eat shit food all the time but that's definitely not the case.

Makwa's picture

skipping meals is a surefire way to ruin your metabolism and sabatoge any weightloss. You need to eat smaller more frequent meals to keep the metabolism fired up.

Funny how our bodies go into protect mode when we dont eat enough . It will store the fat for energy because it thinks its not going to get more

Makwa's picture

It is also interesting that if you don't eat enough fat that the body keep whatever it has. Back when I was young and foolish I figured all i had to do was cut the fat in my diet way down. Big mistake. I was eating less than 5% of my macros from fat while dieting at a 5-750 cal deficit. I was not losing an ounce of fat for weeks. Bumped my macros up to 20% fat and then it started peeling off rapidly. Lesson learned there. Spacing a long time between meals and not eating enough fat will sabatoge any fatloss in its tracks. Often times it is just not as simple as cals in vs cals out.

Try telling them anything at all ...

Bill G's picture

Tell her you love her. Just dont say its because she looks like she can cook...

press1's picture

Mate I've never had any that can bloody cook - now I just do my own lol That way I can have it when I WANT it and not at a fixed time hahaha

Bill G's picture

Probly cause you chasing those skinny ones. Nothing like wrestling a pillowcase full of poolsticks. Get one that can eat, treat her right. Bam! got a keeper

press1's picture

Lol I like em with a bit of muscle on them - nice toned quads and calves. Never had one that does gear though, that would be an experience pinning together hahaha

You can tell people you do each other in the butt.
No Homo!

Sam I Am's picture

If that's the situation that's about all you can do...although I've been known to shove food in my rain suit when I worked in the mine. Not because I'm Joe bidyguru because I'm a big eater. I've had people say how can you eat at a time like this. I've been in a jack line for 12 hours so low you have to piss laying down and had no problem eating where I just pissed. I suspect this dudes snacking at work. Hes to heavy not to be...

One would think so wouldn't they, but we cant always be right.

press1's picture

Wow that's hardcore lol Do you not get claustrophobic one bit?

RVWolf's picture

Something I have learnt when I was doing cycling is that the metabolism is not the same depending on the HBR (Heart) and duration of the exercise, you need at minimum 45 min of cardio before your body starts to use fats as energy. So I would recommend as exercise low to med intensity for 1 hour. Also don't be too hard with your body at first, because with time, the more you will do cardio for longer periods, the more you will realize naturally that you have to watch what you eat if you want performance and progress (you have the competition spirit ?), and your body will have more performance to utilize the nutriments.
If there something that could help and not too harsh, it's cafeine, but watch your heart.

Ragingbull82's picture

Maybe I need to do more cardio more often? I typically walk about 30 minutes 3 days a week on the treadmill starting on 1.5 medium pace and going to 2.5 fast pace with a 3-4 % incline. Reason being is bc I've been seen that running or doing too much cardio kills muscle growth.

RVWolf's picture

If you do not know how many calories you eat (in a good ratio of proteins, carbohydrates, fats) or how much you spend, then it's like being blind. Also if you want to gain muscle and lose weight it is rather contradictory at the level of the caloric balance. That's why there are cycles of bulk and cut. If I were you I would focus on one concern at a time, I think it's better to be healthy than having tons of muscle.

Bill G's picture

Cant expect a lot in 4 months if the diet isnt right. Cant eat because your job? Healthy snacks every 2 hours to get your metabolism on line. Stay away from sugar drinks. Drink more water. How much water are you drinking? What do you eat for break fast ? and what is this meal you eat before the gym?

wanted's picture

You say your job doesnt allow to eat. Id say you coukd be a great candidate to try the intermittent fasting diet..
Also you could give us a sample of what you actually eat in a day. Can you tell us your macros. That is exactly how many calories, carbs, protein , fats you have in a day
Once you figure this out its gona be life changing for you

Overeating is the problem my friend, if you consume more calories than you manage to spend throughout the day or a week then you gain weight. If weight and look in the mirror doesn’t move that means you consume enough to maintain the current weight.
To lose weight you need calorie deficit that can be achieved two ways, decreasing calories or increasing cardiovascular activity.

Makwa's picture

Sounds like he is doing enough exercise, would really have to see the routine first though, so it definitely seems like cals need to be monitored.

Ragingbull82's picture

I workout for roughly an hour (excluding cardio 3 days a week at 30 minutes on treadmill) at high intensity or super set to keep metabolism and calories burning. I dont eat after workout, but I do typically have a post workout supp.

Sam I Am's picture

Steroids arent a diet pill. You need to be in a calorie deficit. Dont eat any fast food ever. No sodas and drink alot of water.

People always looking for drugs thinking they are an easy way to get lean. To bad it isn't that easy.

november1's picture

I have been there, and must say, it's all about mindset, either you want to bulk up, cut or maintain. That must be your goal. I have done it myself and seen lots of folk loose huge amounts of fat in relatively fair amount of time.
Read, learn, try something else.
Of you say you have been struggling, then change something up.

Personaly for my job and lifestyle best way is intermitten fastenning plus carb restriction and some kardio.
But ou man, I have tried variety of diets and exercises.
It's all about mindset.

Intermittent fasting has changed the game for me. Of course along with trail and error of setting up my macros

Yeah.
Keep the head in the game and think what and when you eat.
That's about 70% of the job right there
Plus exercise and cardio.

Good for you for sticking to it for a few months.
Here’s the tough news:
Four months isn’t enough. When I have someone ask what they need to do to get a physique like mine (and I’m no mr olympia) I say “1-2 hours a day of training 5-7 days a week for ten years. And without the diet locked in you still won’t progress”

Carlos Danger's picture

Low calorie diet. Restrict carbs. Fasted cardio in the am. Stay off performance drugs bro they’re only for people who are serious about this lifestyle.

That's what I would do.

You need to fix your diet and lose a lot of weight before you think about steroids. Its going to cause more health problems than you already have. Gear doesnt make up for a shitty diet
