+ 4 Calorie tracking? Fixing my diet? Really?

ad

In the past, I hated the idea of tracking my calories. It seemed so tedious. I also complained about not gaining weight.
I wanted a quick fix thinking that I was a hardgainer, my program wasn't right, needed supplements and weight gainers, etc.
Now a friend challenged me to not change a single thing about my diet for two weeks. The only catch was to track absolutely everything. Well I don't like to lose so I did it.
I learned that I was eating no where near what i should be to gain weight. I had this idea that my diet was on point. When I learned what and how much I should be eating, the doors blocking me just swung open. I thought these dudes were wrong and diet wasn't number one. Well I was dead wrong.Fixing my diet has been the greatest thing I ever did for my training.
So whats the take away? Try actually counting your calories for a few days.You probably are not a hardgainer, you are just not eating enough of the right things.

You can track your calories by noting down calories you eat in a file. By filing such a way we will know how much you are consuming. This is a naive practice which helps in weight loss.

I’m too lazy to do it so I just pay somebody else to tell me what to eat. Lol

A free app called fatsecret helps me out greatly tracking everything I eat.

Different schools of thought. You can track or you can plan. I plan. I write a meal plan, I follow it to a T, same meals, same times, every day. I adjust calories according to the scale (checking at the same time once a week on an empty stomach) depending on whether I want to gain, lose, or maintain. Is it boring eating the same exact things every day? Honestly, no. I'm immature in many respects but well past the point where I need to be entertained by my food. It's fuel, nothing more, nothing less.

Okay, I have one cheat meal a week every Saturday night. Shoot me.

How many calories did you think you were eating vs the actual? Just curious how far off it was.

I can't remember (about two years ago) numbers exactly but;
At the time i think my maintenance was 3000. I thought i was eating around 3500. My daily average was only 2500. Thats about the best i can remember, Might be a little off.
Currently I do more of your style. I have a routine and scheduled life so planning my meals is the easiest. And if something bores me, i can add hot sauce lol.
