Kombucha

ad

Not sure if I’ll get a ton of shit for posting this but it seemed to help me. since my injury I was at a point where I was on a lot of different medications. Blood thinners, nerve blockers, pain killers, anti inflammatory. I had three surgeries in three days and was expected to get a blood clot and never did. I’ve since been focusing on Everything I put in my body and one of the things I really enjoy is kombucha I even started brewing my own and drink it before the gym. Here is some articles I found about it and thought it could play a good rule in the nutrition side of bodybuilding considering how much food we consume and how hard our digestive systems work.

“When you create kombucha, the bacteria and the yeast are taking that sugar and they are transforming it, The fermentation process unlocks things in the food that you would normally not get access to.”

This includes probiotics, the bacteria and yeast that help grow the good-for-you bacteria in your gut, which not only aid in digestion, but also play a role in how you process food, absorb nutrients, and how your metabolism and immune system function, says Dr. Bulsiewicz.

Kombucha typically contains about a billion or so probiotics. That sounds like a lot, but some probiotic supplements contain as many as 450 billion. That said, the drink can be good for your gut health, says Dr. Bulsiewicz, since it helps deliver the probiotics directly to your colon, unlike probiotics in pill form which may be killed off by your stomach acid.

Kombucha’s nutritional profile goes beyond probiotics, too, since it carries vitamins B1, B6, and B12, which help boost your immune system, regulate your mood, and produce red blood cells. You'll also get some vitamin C, an antioxidant important for your skin, bone health, and heart.”

Detoxification.
Improved digestion
Immune system stimulation
Arthritis prevention
Cancer prevention
Cholesterol reduction
Energy enhancement
Weight loss.
I know trends come and go and a lot of shit is over hyped and ends up not being as healthy as previously thought but I definitely notice a difference with kombucha. I use it as a base in my smoothies as well. Hopefully this is useful information.

I like the ginger ones, they’ve got a bit of a bite from the ginger flavor. I use them for my on cycle beer cravings when I know I shouldn’t be drinking.

For anyone wondering:

Kombucha (also tea mushroom, Manchurian mushroom, formal name: Medusomyces gisevii[1]) is a variety of fermented, lightly effervescent sweetened black or green tea drinks commonly intended as functional beverages for their supposed health benefits. Kombucha is produced by fermenting tea using a "symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast" (SCOBY).

Thanks for that, I should have posted that as well.

No worries, I actually had no idea what it was so I had to look it up. Sounds like it has many possible positive effects. You make it at home now, did you used to buy in the store, or order online?

I use to buy it in the store. They have a ginger berry and a pink lady apple one that really got me into it but they are 3.50 a piece and making it is pretty simple. I ordered a scoby on amazon and every batch you brew makes a baby scoby so I give them away.
