ad
I been reading much about androgen receptors. I want to get the most out of my next cycle. Im going to start with one week water fast. Then 3 weeks of organic greens powder and wheat grass.
Im plan on beingg extremely strict and will document everything stats doses bloods ect. Do you think im wasting my time or do you approve. Either way whats your supporting reasons. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I dont think it's a waste of time. Most of everthing we do is psychologically driven, so if u feel it's working for u do it. Bloods and stats are great way of backing up what ur feeling. I'm deffinately interested in ur results. I heard fasting increases ur metabolism and can even have super healing effects at some point. I myself cant do this as my family would probably kill me. I get crazy hangry episodes even if I'm late for dinner. Good luck brother.
Who_CaresThanks One i will keep you posted. One thing i noticed quickly was my skin looked rejuvinated. But thrn again it may be my mibd playing tri ks on me
Who_CaresI started my fast 2 days ago and i felt like death but this morning i woke up and felt great. Swam 1 mile the did a 3 mile treadmill run on an incline then i sat in the sauna for 30 minutes. Sauna was tough. Plus i lost my job due to lack of work. So now i will collect for a few months and workout like an animal.
Try it, take bloods before and after then report back mate. I think you’ll loose a lot of muscle and feel like crap but you never know.
Who_CaresLast time i did a cleanse i felt like shit forba week then i felt better than ever.
I think you're wasting your time! Do a lil research and come up wit ha better plan!
PcushionI agree! This post has me so confused. Cleansing antibiotics and hormones so we can blast away more hormones, butnto each their own.
Who_CaresFood additives are very bad. Everyone should do a cleanse once in a while. I feel its like a reset. Just my personal opinion.
Who_CaresCleasing your body is never a waste of time. Im not doing it for any other reason other than to clean toxins out before new cycle and hoping my receptors clean out. I may be wrong but most of our food these days is SHIT. Antibiotics hormones ect. When they clain organic i really dont believe it.
I personally dont beleive on fasts. But that's me...
Keep us updated.
Am I missing something, you’ll have no solid food for 4 weeks???
That’s crazy, I would pass out after about a day or so
Maybe Makwa will stop in, I remember him posting about some sort of cleanse he does before cycles to ready his body but I just combed through his forums and couldn’t find it so he may not have posted it yet.
I like the idea, I think with all the excess food and igf1 floating around our lifestyle is encouraging cancer, some autophagy and periods without should do us all some good.
PcushionI totally agree with what your saying about excess food not being good for us but there is also a line crossed with eating and over eating. Just because we are on cycle doesn’t mean we don’t have limitations still. Bodybuilding is just like everything else it has a right and wrong way. I am just saying that if done correctly periods with dont provide much more harm than period without provide provide good. We are bodybuilders. Bodybuilding by nature isn’t exactly healthy. It’s about pushing boundaries, taking your body to places the mind thinks it can’t go, we keep going when others stop, we squat until we puke in the gym urinal, we consume artificial hormones and do more bloodwork than an a cancer patient, we carry our meals everywhere we go so we don’t have to go without. It’s a job always taking full time applications but has an extreme turnover rate of part time employees. If you want to part time this lifestyle that’s cool but why play around with artificial hormones and risk your health for something your not fully committed to. If makwa does fast I am sure he has his reasons. The guy knows his stuff no doubt, but I don’t think he would do a week long water fast and go without animal protein for three weeks. He might I don’t know him personally, but I do know that he damn sure wouldn’t say protein only matters on cycle. The initial post of this thread is a thought and maybe something to build off of, but the comments that followed make going on cycle appear slightly unsafe but mostly really unnecessary. That’s just my take on it though.
I think his protocol was more like a standard detox with greens and certain health supplements. Not an extended fast.
I totally agree that if you’re gonna do it you should do it all the way.
There’s another factor to consider which is muscle maturity. Old muscle takes FOREVER to lose. I swear I can go down to damn near zero calories off cycle and a good portion of my size will not budge because I’ve held it for the last ten years. For a man in his 40’s I would imagine this principle comes into play even more so.
John meadows talks about dieting these days vs his youth and he can go much lower in calories today and still hold size because he’s had his muscle for so long vs a kid who started training 4-5 years ago. So if the OP has a lot of old muscle, a fast may be more effective and less detrimental than if he was just getting started.
yeah, you will never catch me doing a fast. Set yourself up with some good probiotics and stay away from processed foods for a bit is all you need to do. Mix some superfoods into your shakes to really top it off.
PcushionThere from the man himself.
Who_CaresI could see where hes coming from and i respect Maks advice on everything but i tell you i have never had so much energy and stamina as i do now. Just hope it lasts. This weekend i will be back to a more egg and beef protein regimen.
PcushionThat’s good brother I am happy for you. Just be safe.
Who_CaresMak whats a good probiotic? Im drinking wheatgrass chlorella ect. I honestly thought i was doing a good thing cleansing all the BS out.
FR sent
Glad you stopped in bro. That sounds like good reasonable advice for anyone. Maybe get into some more whole veggie smoothies and such during that time as well.
PcushionYeah man bodybuilding is a full time job. You are very right about old muscle man it’s hard to to loose. I started lifting in high school and haven’t stopped sense, but gym sessions became training sessions in 2007. My body responded incredibly all natural and in 2007 I decided to dive down the rabbit hole. I didn’t take my first cycle until 2011 or 2012. Truth be told I don’t know if I loose muscle or not. I started and haven’t stopped since lol.
Who_CaresThats my thing as well. I really never lose muscle or at least enough to notice. Whether im Fasting or sick ect. My muscle density is always quite unchanged.
PcushionEveryone has their own opinion but if you have been off cycle long enough your receptors should be recovered just fine. Fasting sounds like a horrible idea for someone who wants to build muscle... Eat all the greens and grass you please but once again someone who wants to build muscle would be concerned with protein and carbs so don’t forget those. I think your time would be better spent in aiding the hormones to do their job once they enter the body. Finding your method of beating the bodies natural defense mechanisms and it’s desire to achieve homeostasis~SHBG, aromatase enzyme.
Who_CaresIm just doing this to clean out prior to the cycle. I dont feel earing protein prior to a cycle would make and difference. Protein only needed when i start the cycle.
This is another variable based on muscle maturity. But generally if you are still trying to grow I would still make sure to meet protein requirements regardless of if I’m on or off.
Who_CaresWill plant based protiens maintain muscle or will ypu still lose no matter how much plant cased protiens are consumed.
They’re inferior protein sources. You can use them and then fill in the missing amino profiles but that’ll take a lot of research and planning.
Probably easier to just eat mostly fish and veggies.
Protein is essential, not just for building muscle but for maintenance of existing muscle. Without it you'll be in a catabolic state(muscle wasting). This is fundamental knowledge. We as bodybuilders try to stay in a constant anabolic state, hence eating protein every 2 to 3 hours.
Who_CaresI will be having plant proteins. That should help prevent wasting
PcushionProtein is not just protein man. It’s not equal; 1 gram of soy protein does not equal one gram of egg protein. It’s all about bioavailability. Soy and other plant proteins have very little bioavailability to the human body so it does nothing in terms of preserving or creating muscle. Yeah it provides vitamins but shit man so do the flintstone chewables and they leave more room for real food. Protein bioavailability:
Egg
Milk
Fish
Chicken
Beef
Rocks
Dog Poop
Broom handles
Soy in that order
Not being a dick just being honest my man
Who_CaresHahahaha i appreciate the input. No offense taken.
PcushionIf you are truly into developing your body not just while on gear it certainly matters. How can you progress naturally or possibly maintain what is acquired without keep a consistent diet. Diet and consistency are everything. Plus if your not used to eating excess calories prior to a cycle it’s making it harder on you from the start. It’s going to make consuming adequate amounts of food very hard at the beginning and that’s something you should already be used to. It’s part of the plan. It’s stands neck and neck with ore cycle bloodwork.
Who_CaresProblem is everything we eat just about is inflammatory. Greens will assist in the radification of inflammation.
