Pre Cycle Cleanse

ad

I been reading much about androgen receptors. I want to get the most out of my next cycle. Im going to start with one week water fast. Then 3 weeks of organic greens powder and wheat grass.
Im plan on beingg extremely strict and will document everything stats doses bloods ect. Do you think im wasting my time or do you approve. Either way whats your supporting reasons. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I dont think it's a waste of time. Most of everthing we do is psychologically driven, so if u feel it's working for u do it. Bloods and stats are great way of backing up what ur feeling. I'm deffinately interested in ur results. I heard fasting increases ur metabolism and can even have super healing effects at some point. I myself cant do this as my family would probably kill me. I get crazy hangry episodes even if I'm late for dinner. Good luck brother.

Try it, take bloods before and after then report back mate. I think you’ll loose a lot of muscle and feel like crap but you never know.

Am I missing something, you’ll have no solid food for 4 weeks???
That’s crazy, I would pass out after about a day or so

Maybe Makwa will stop in, I remember him posting about some sort of cleanse he does before cycles to ready his body but I just combed through his forums and couldn’t find it so he may not have posted it yet.

I like the idea, I think with all the excess food and igf1 floating around our lifestyle is encouraging cancer, some autophagy and periods without should do us all some good.

I think his protocol was more like a standard detox with greens and certain health supplements. Not an extended fast.

I totally agree that if you’re gonna do it you should do it all the way.

There’s another factor to consider which is muscle maturity. Old muscle takes FOREVER to lose. I swear I can go down to damn near zero calories off cycle and a good portion of my size will not budge because I’ve held it for the last ten years. For a man in his 40’s I would imagine this principle comes into play even more so.

John meadows talks about dieting these days vs his youth and he can go much lower in calories today and still hold size because he’s had his muscle for so long vs a kid who started training 4-5 years ago. So if the OP has a lot of old muscle, a fast may be more effective and less detrimental than if he was just getting started.

yeah, you will never catch me doing a fast. Set yourself up with some good probiotics and stay away from processed foods for a bit is all you need to do. Mix some superfoods into your shakes to really top it off.

Glad you stopped in bro. That sounds like good reasonable advice for anyone. Maybe get into some more whole veggie smoothies and such during that time as well.

This is another variable based on muscle maturity. But generally if you are still trying to grow I would still make sure to meet protein requirements regardless of if I’m on or off.

They’re inferior protein sources. You can use them and then fill in the missing amino profiles but that’ll take a lot of research and planning.

Probably easier to just eat mostly fish and veggies.

Protein is essential, not just for building muscle but for maintenance of existing muscle. Without it you'll be in a catabolic state(muscle wasting). This is fundamental knowledge. We as bodybuilders try to stay in a constant anabolic state, hence eating protein every 2 to 3 hours.
