+ 4 Importance of checking hormones before and during a cycle

ad

I'm a physical trainer and work with different types of athletes, but mostly bodybuilders. I do not encourage my clients to take AAS but do have clients that choose to take AAS to supplement their goals (About 50% of my clients). Starting off almost 10 years ago, I never coached them on these type of things because I primarily focus on training and diet regiments, but over the years I've learned a lot and have suggested and encourage the proper use of AAS to my clients who choose to use steroids.

One thing I noticed is that many of these guys who do steroids simply only focus on hormones such as testosterone, estrogen and prolactin. Some do not even get labs / blood work done and rely on how they feel and such. While others don't feel 100% yet still choose not to get labs done because of irrational beliefs or pure laziness.

A big problem with that is I've had guys come to me with all types of complaints about how they feel, their gains, their mood, libido, etc with some of the most simplest cycles like a testosterone only cycle to some super advanced cycles.

Some of the things I hear "Why am I so tired all the time?" "I just feel like laying in bed all day" "I don't think my AAS is working" "I'm getting constant cramps" "I'm sweating profusely" "My cardiovascular health feels strained" "My mood is terrible" "My libido is gone" "I'm not having any erections" "I'm getting gassed out quickly" "I'm not seeing any differences"

When you do steroids, you're affecting your endocrine system and how the glands work. Depending on how advanced your cycle is, you can be affecting more than one gland.

I've had guys and gals who got on gear and already had issues with their Thyroid hormones.. Wasted their money and got meek results. Some of these guys are the same ones who complain about things like lethargy, mood, sleep, feeling super hot or cold, etc.

I've had guys and gals who got on gear, while having issues with cortisol (stress hormone), wondering why on a cut cycle they were having trouble losing fat, why they did not feel well, etc.

I've had guys on gear who checked their e2 levels but had issues with prolactin causing host of problems with libido, erection, puffy nipples, etc.

I've had guys with DHT issues who were losing hair, having issues with libido, etc

I've had guys who had issues with insulin resistance and not even know it.. Get on gear, feel sick/lethargic, have issues with gains, etc.

I've had guys who were on AI's who didn't even need them, causing their estrogen levels to crash.

I've had guys taking things like T3 when they didn't need it.. causing issues with their thyroid.

I've had guys taking blood pressure medicine to combat blood pressure issues without any consultation with a physician.

Please, go get your labs done and stop guessing! You don't want to screw with your endocrine system and your hormones.. because AAS can affect quite a lot of hormones in your body. Find a doctor that you are comfortable sharing your lifestyle with because your doctor can save your ass from doing some possibly permanent damage to yourself.

Great post and accurate. I think it's also important to look at what tests are going to be performed and how to interpret the results.

For me my SHBG was elevated, causing significant free testosterone issues despite the fact that (off) my tot testosterone was measured consistently between 600 and 800.

Good post. You're preaching to the choir here. We all see so many members on here who take tons of GEAR and have little to show for it. There are so many mistakes one can make in this game it's too long to list here. We try to help as much as we can, but sometimes people simply refuse to listen!

Getting results is so much more than simply shooting AAS and swallowing pills! +

I like it when you say there are some guys who don't take blood samples while they're running. It's full of these people.
Buying AAS is easy , it costs little , there are promotions and they are often free.
Unfortunately we neglect the most important part of the cycle, namely the recovery, but especially the control of hormones.
Have that certainty that all values return to normal. I personally have to be sure that I have the money for the blood sample before I perform a cycle. This is the only certainty, not to go to sensations.
