Ashwagandha and steroids
So, you might have heard of Ashwaganda. A natural herb which has been researched extensively and proven to have awesome health benefits. I'm experimenting with it in regard to it being able to improve thyroid function and adrenal fatigue.
The thing is, it's an adaptogen which means it tries to create homeostasis in your body. Now when we are on steroids our bodies are far from homeostasis since our test levels are way to high, estrogen possibly out of whack etc. Could this aspect of ashwaganda have an negative impact on test levels for example (possibly lowering it to try and achieve homeostasis)? Or is that simply not possible because steroids are much stronger.
On the other sides I also see possitive effects of it being an adaptogen aswell.

It does nothing for test when on cycle. But it increase test, proven, when off-cycle/natural.
See my forum in TRT/over 40's for more on how to use it to increase natural test levels. It's a fantastic herb.
Would love to read more of your updates on it over time.
RivaI think it's giving me anxiety, no appetite and sleeplesness currently, I'm taking 1 gram standardized to contain 1.5% withanolides. That's the exact opposite of the fatigue I was feeling. But not really what I was going for lol. So I'm dropping the dose to 500mg tomorrow and see how it goes.
Oh no, sorry to hear that now. Crikey man, I havent experienced that myself with it.
how is the maker of the supp? not likely to have other stims in there are they?
RivaNah, it's a reputable brand so no way they would put stimulants in it. This shit is making me itchy all over aswell I don't know whats going on. I've never experienced anything like this as well, but I always used it during pct never on cycle. Maybe I developed an allergy? Or it could be something different. I'm gonna drop it for a while and see how that goes.
StevebI feel more awake with that stuff
×2
No noticeable affects but just more alert
More awake how?...Like a caffeine high?...A modafinil high?...Clear minded?...Better rested?...More focused?...are you taking other supplements that could cause a similar feeling or enhance this feeling?
When do you take it?...AM? PM?...
What’s your dosages?
StevebI just don't feel as fucking tired and have more energy throughout the day, Even in text it sounds like you're nagging.
Yes I "sometimes" take Shilajit which is the best for energy.
I take it whenever the hell I want

I'd compare it to modafinil mate......no stimulant affect but just more alert
RivaYeah it's like a clarity of mind, atleast for me. I take it in the more, dosage is highly dependant on the concentration of the product. Do some research on it and when you buy a product do the math and dose accordingly.
Ashwagandha is an herb that has been used for thousands of years. It is known to have numerous health benefits. I used it years ago with Tribulis Terrestis and the combo was excellent for boosting Testosterone levels(if you're not on cycle). What it will do if you re on cycle may be greatly diminished!
StevebCold pressed Tribulus Terrestris will boost testosterone but anything dried, powered, or heated usually does nothing.
What are it’s numerous health benefits?...
And what aspects could be “greatly diminished” if used on cycle?
Lowers blood pressure and adrenaline, and boosts natural test levels. A cycle of Test will negate all these things.
RivaThe list is too long but, it can improve insuline resistancy, improve thyroid function if its impaired, helps adrenal fatigue, can help with anxiety and depression, raises natty test levels up to 40% and boosts fertility and sperm count in men and some more. Here is the kicker: this is all backed up by solid research.
Riva, thank you for the response. I’m familiar with Ashwagandha, I use Ashwagandha. I’m challenging the basic answers...of “it’s good”...”thumbs up”....”makes my brain feel gooder”...this does nothing for the community. Nobody learns anything...and neither of these gents above actually answered your question.
Being that it’s an adaptogen...your body will only use what it needs. With that said, I doubt anyone can answer your question definitively... the best answer was below: to get bloods on cycle when taking ashwagandha and when not taking it...and you’ll see how it’s affecting thyroid & LH/FSH & cortisol.
RivaI understand what you're saying, I'm going to get some bloodwork done in a week or 2 if nothing improves regarding my feeling of fatigue.
So the real issue is that you are fatigued?...
You’re taking ashwagandha to assist...but don’t want it to interfere with your cycle.
I highly doubt that ashwagandha will interfere with AAS...I have never heard of this, or experienced it...
Again, bloods always the best first step towards getting answers. The fatigue could be from a variety of factors.
Good luck.
RivaYeah exactly, and I don't like to take stuff as pre workouts or any stimulants. Since I'm already taking a minimal dose of ritalin for my ADHD. But yeah it could be anything.
basskiller89Hey brother!!
I would not mess with thyroid unless you have a medical condition. A simple blood test should show your T3/T4 levels and a doctor can prescribe you medication if need be. Why are you trying to alter your thyroid function? In regards to testosterone being lowered I do not see the being possible or relevant. To my understanding the way testosterone functions in the body when synthetically taken is by shutting down the bodies natural production, relying on synthetic testosterone for bodily function. The steroid itself has an ester attached to it which will determine how long the compound stays active in your body. Adrenal fatigue is also something that you would need to have blood and or urine work taken for to address adrenal gland secretion. I think it is a natural occurrence for the body to want to maintain and achieve homeostasis, however on steroids I believe the bodies natural hormone production to achieve such a hormonal state is shut down. This is a lot of the reason that those who cycle include HCG Nolvadex and Clomid. These compounds all have synergistic effects to reset and balance hormones to allow the body to function without the use of gear. I would still be very careful because the body can only bounce back so many times, hence TRT. I would get blood work taken before trying any OTC drugs and I would surely create a cycle log before starting anything so we can help you!!
You are advising him NOT to improve thyroid function and adrenal fatigue with a herb which has rpoven health benefits???
Did you bang your head or something??
basskiller89I would not advise anyone to alter thyroid or adrenal gland without having bloods checked first at which point I personally would not feel comfortable using a flower, just IMO brother!!
RivaThanks for your extensive response, really helpful info! I'm trying to improve thyroid function because somehow I always feels rundown towards the end of my cycles, starting at the 8 week mark. I thought it my be a thyroid function problem or adrenal fatigue or even a mix of both. But you are right a blood test is neccesary to rule things out.
