+ 1 Flying with needles

ad

Hello im taking an international flight in the next few days and was wondering if yous guys know if I will get hasseled for having them (syringes and needles) in my checked in baggage, i will not be bringing them on with me. Is this okay without a prescription to be in possession of the needles and syringes ?

You can probably obtain syringes where your going.

I was wondering about this a few months ago, and then I did some research and found out you can possess syringes in the following states without prescription : AL, AZ, AK, CA, CO, Disctrict of Columbia, GO, ID, IL, IN, IO, KT, LO, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, OR, RI, SC, SD, TN, VT, VI, WA, WV, WI, WY. Please forgive me if i butchered the state abbreviation. The unlisted states were the ones I was unsure of and also since it is a new year, please check to see if anything changed. So since you can possess them in these states, I'm sure you can fly with them, especially because its considered medical and TSA won't ask to see your prescription, didnt for me.

I am not sure about this.

I also fly all over and have never had an issue. Needles are not illegal and there are on the ok list with the TSA. I literally fly 2-4 times per week and never once had an issue.

I fly all over the world with syringes and needles. I have never had a problem. I keep them in my checked luggage. Sometimes I even include the stealthy sachet alternatives in them too.

Have u ever had a issue in Japan (Tokyo) ?

Muffins's picture

No, haven't had an issue there. However, I only use Narita for connecting flights/layovers.

Zuttome's picture

So you never left Narita Airport or Handa Airport through customs with needles than ? I only ask because I am in the situation I may be moving to Tokyo but I don't want to give up possible trt benefits.

I've left to go smoke and came back through security with a few back in 2015. I was traveling carry-on only. Your prescription for TRT superceedes their law. Make sure your doctor has you well documented for the syringes as a precaution. If you're not prescribed, playing dumb usually works once, twice is a pattern and three times is blantant disregard.

If you'll be insured in the States, and living there, I'd just have your scripts mailed to you. It's official and prescribed.

Liftheavy's picture

Can't do it unless they are accompanied with a ID prescription that means a script with your name on it.

Probably wouldn't be a problem but you could always just mail them...

roidroidroid's picture

Im staying with parents and family who might open my mail so I want to try avoid that if possible.

Something no one has yet recommended:

Get an insulin cooler. I've used that to fly with gear in pre-drawn needles.

And most importantly, as Squirrel said: the TSA is neither trained to nor will they ask about medical stuff.

It's also a crime to open someone elses' mail, so your family might have some boundary issues :s

would 15-20 of each be too many ?

ill probably travel with 10 then and leave the rest. should be safe with that
