Urology appt for prescription help

ad

So I've been on trt at a men's clinic for almost 2 years now. Went to several docs such as endo and cardio doc to rule out any other reasons why my test was low prior to starting TRT. I'm wanting a prescription due to the high cost of men's clinic and for the freedom of doing it at home. Sometimes life gets in the way to where I can't be consistent on which day I get my weekly injection of 200mg of test cyp. Which can be vital of maintaining stable levels. I have several labs I'm carrying with me from the last 3 years to my urology appointment to show my low levels prior to TRT. 2 of which are below 280 and 2 which are between 320 and 360 when trying test boosters as well as my current levels on trt which are around 600-700 on 200 mg a week. The original endo i went to said my levels were close enough to reference range which started at 285 and she wouldnt prescribe it to me saying that i was young and thay she wasnt well versed in trt. Im 29 now btw. Any advice on how to be even more prepared for this appointment or any compelling arguments you guys would have as to why the doc should prescribe trt instead of doing men's clinic? Oh my appointment is today by the way lol.

So you started this whole journey at a clinic and did not see your pcp or an actual endocrinologist correct?
Because it looks like from what you say and bloods you already drew there is/was hope for you to not have to take trt. Clinics love to jump at the opportunity to place you on trt because its big money in there pockets to prescribe treatments you don't need. You could have tried clomid therapy, hcg, and lifestyle changes to get your levels back to close to normal as possible. That endo you see will make you come back after several weeks and do another blood test and then another after that.

No . started out at my pcp complaining about the typical symptoms. they ran all kinds of blood work and I asked her to run a hormone panel as well . That's when I seen my total test was at 260. She then referred me to an endo. Took 4 months to get an appointment and they did labs and then said al pituitary issues are good and my test was a little low but not far from reference range values. She said with my age and her not being as well versed in trt she didn't want to start me on it. I then tried test booster only to get below mid 300s. After several months of that I went on trt at a clinic. I know i jumped all over the place on that post sorry

So what happened at your endo appointment?

MentalWarfare's picture

The endo lady said all functions looked good except test was a little low. Came in at 260's and reference range started at 285. She said she didn't want to start me on trt because I was still young at the time (27) and that she wasn't well versed in trt. That was all that happened.

Ha. You might be right. Went to urologist yesterday and he knew pretty much nothing about trt. Just referred me to another endo. Waiting on the referral to come through with a date. He told me I should quit cold turkey NOW. From my understanding this isn't wise is it? Could my clinic give me nolva and Clomid if I decide to? I asked if he could precribe it to me to come of and he said he's never heard of that medication and knows nothing about it. Should i keep doing trt clinic and find an endo that will work with me without coming off?

How did you find this website? Just curious because there are hundreds of trt forums out there.

Shit dude, I have no idea. Ive been registered here for 3 years. Just been creeping and researching stuff here from time to time. I'd imagine it would have been some Google search about trt.

You need to find a good Endo you trust and can work with!

I was expecting GP to refer me to another endo but she reffered me to a urologiat this time. She said they specialize in trt as well since its derived from the testes.

Damn bro, sorry uve had to be on TRT at such an early age. Did u realize u had low T when u looked in mirror and saw ur skinny Jean's not fitting anymore. Honestly, What did ur endo doc say?

MentalWarfare's picture

Lol never wearing skinny jeans my guy. But yea I started trt at 27 which sucks. My endo said that my levels were low but within 15-20 points below reference range (starts at 285) and said that I was kind of young to start on trt and that she wasn't well versed in trt enough for her to treat me anyway.

That sounds like u have only seen a regular doc, not a specialist. A endo is an endocrinologist. Endocrinologists are doctors who specialize in glands and the hormones they make. They are well versed in mens health. U have alot of years ahead of u, best to get ur HPTA back in order. I dont believe ull be able to do that with mens clinic's or box docs. And Urology is docs that do surgical treatments...

Went to GP first and they referred me to an endo at the local endocrinology and diabetes clinic. There they ran a buttload of tests. GH, cortisol, thyroid and prolactin looked good and nothing low or elevated that were to throw any red flags. They even checked adrenal functions and all good to go. The reason I'm going to urology is because I went back to same GP about the low T and she referred me to the urologist this time because she believe it would be beneficial to get the prescription from a specialist. She said urology specializes in TRT as well.

She said urology specializes in TRT as well.

Yep. My TRT doc is a urologist.
