Do you think it's necessary to run HCG with your therapy? I have no interest in more children. Does HCG do more than increase fertility?

Some guys like to use it to keep their testicles normal size. Sometimes they will shrink on AAS cycles and even TRT.
I like it for cosmetic reasons too on cycle!
A bit of an older thread but maybe I can revive it. I’ve been on trt over a year and my lh and fsh were .1 and .2 respectively. I got Hcg and ran it a bit too high for a while as I’ve come to find out. 1000 iu 3x per week the last three weeks. Then got my blood tested And my fsh and lh both only went to .3.I was also on ai .25 3x per week. My estradiol crashed to 5. I’m dropping the ai totally and the Hcg to 500 3x per week. Any insight helps

Alphamale500I figured that I'd write a short simple overview of how Hcg works in men, because it's obvious that some people don't understand the workings and the many benefits of using hcg, for men who use testosterone in cycles and especially with trt.
In men, Hcg mimics Luteinizing Hormone and signals the testicles to produce testosterone. And in men on trt, their testicles can stop producing testosterone and the Hcg can help their testicles to maintain testosterone production. Hcg can also raise your sperm count and improve fertility, and also restore testicular size or prevent them from shrinking in the first place.
So even with this simple overview of how Hcg works and it's benefits in men using testosterone or on trt, you can surely see how many different benefits takng Hcg can actually have. On top of all it's benefits, Hcg is known for being very well tolerated by its users and not causing major side effects.
I have benefited so much from Hcg while on cycle, during PCT and on trt. Knowing what I know now and from experiencing Hcg's benefits first hand, I wouldn't use testosterone at all without using Hcg along with it.
You're clearly well versed regarding HCG. The recommended doseages for men on TRT seem to be all over the place. Curious your thoughts on it.
Alphamale500For men on TRT, an effective dose would be in the 200-250iu range M-W-F. And this dosage was originally given to me by my endo. But everyone's body is different, and you might need to adjust that dose a lil bit.
HCG will raise your e2 levels, so be sure to get frequent bloodwork and keep an eye on that. You'll very likely need an A.I. to keep your e2 in check. When I'm on just a TRT dose of 100mg/wk of test, I use 250iu of HCG M-W-F. With that dose of test along with that dose of HCG, I'll have to take 0.5mg of Anastrozole every 3 days to control my e2 levels.
But yeah, HCG is a very beneficial medication and I wouldn't run any testosterone without it. I use HCG year round. Something else to keep in mind is that HCG will also raise test levels in most individuals, depending on if and what type of hypogonadism you may have. So like I mentioned, frequent bloodwork is very important.
Molinin302Just seeing this now and am in complete agreement. If a person is in this for overall health and longevity, aside from a nice physique, HCG should be a part of the protocol. (Yeah after all this time I found the less up front boards on this site)
Alphamale500Absolutely, I agree 100%!
Molinin302It's part of my prescribed TRT protocol, and the Dr will not even discuss not having it, for the aforementioned reasons. Besides doing what we do, it's really about overall health. With that being said, he has me at 200mg weekly cypionate, (too much but I'm not complaining lol) and again, will not even consider not having an AI. I'm up front with him about the other stuff, no way to hide it with the bloodwork, so he doesn't give me any static.
Alphamale500I totally agree with taking the trifecta of test, an A.I. and HCG while on TRT, and I wouldn't do it without all of them. Are you seeing an endocrinologist or is this just your PCP that prescribes you these meds? I'm assuming it's an endo, but 200mg/wk of test for trt is a very high dose for TRT and a good endo usually wouldn't do that.
Your total test level is probably in the range of roughly 2,000ng/dl right? Of course it's your choice and not my business, but if you're really into longevity and overall health like you said above, don't you think that such a high trt dose goes against all of that? I'm not trying to call you out in any way bro. Like I said, I only brought this up because I read you say above that you're into longevity and overall health. Not that I'm one to talk about following strict trt protocol, Lol!
I'm just saying that using high doses of test year round come with a lot more possible sides than an average trt dose, and I'm just wondering what your thoughts are regarding this. I'm just thinking about the possible cardiovascular issues that the consistent year round use of such a high dose of test may cause, among other issues. But to each his own, I'm not judging you at all bro! None of us are perfect, including me.
Molinin302My brother, I don't have fancy car, etc... But I do well for myself. If I've always had something to pride myself on, it's my body and health. I ran into some trouble roughly 4 years ago, a divorce, property loss, death in family... Shit broke me down. My PCP put me on a benzodiazapine, (Klonopin) to ease my nerves. Long story short, I became physically and mentally dependant. Longer story even shorter, when I realized what happened and decided it was time to get my life together, I almost lost my love fe twice in the ER during the withdrawal process. I survived, my testosterone tanked 400 points, and the doctors in my network did nothing. I found a clinic, (shady lol), but I haven't felt this good in years. I was pretty much impotent, and was always into fitness, that medication ruined my body for a temporary fix. At 44, the Dr treating me now understands if 20-30 years from now high dose androgen treatment (plus what I add) may cause an issue, so be it. I love my life, love it more every day I'm alive, but I've come to understand what it truly means to be alive. Thank you so much for your response and caring my brother, it truly means more than you know.
Alphamale500More power to you bro. I didn't mean to harsh your mellow, Lol! Believe me, if anyone understands what you've just explained, it's me. I'm also on klonopin myself for my anxiety disorder. And I've also been through a lot of scary shit when I was in my drug using days! Overdoses, comas, car accidents, life support, hallucinations in the intensive care unit of the hospital after attempting to quit all the drugs I was using cold turkey, multiple deaths of close family and friends, and a whole bunch of more crazy shit that you probably wouldn't believe half of!
I'm so lucky that I'm even alive right now and writing this. I've been so close to death many times. But thank God, someone up there was looking out for me and I completely turned my life around. I haven't touched a drug in roughly 10 years, quit smoking, drinking and all illegal activity! And with that, I've also become a much better person in the way I think and view others. And just like you, training and using gear is like the one thing that still makes me feel alive.
So like I said, if anyone understands your struggle it's me. And I'm with you bro, not trying to go against you. Years ago, TRT also saved me from a miserable existence where I was depressed, couldn't get my dick hard, and sadly, I didn't even care about fucking anyway. No drive for life or sex! So I'm very glad to hear that your life is completely different now and you can finally live a normal life again.
If you ever wanna talk about anything, send me a pm. And honestly, your life sounds like a very similar version of my life. You know, just with a much better looking version of yourself, LOL!!!:))
Molinin302Unfortunately we've travelled the same road it seems, but it's a learning experience. Since we survived, look at all the knowledge we came out if the funk with. I knew you were a stand up guy lol
HCG will help to recover hormones to reference range quicker from my experience so don’t try to save money here
Alphamale500Well said! +
Alphamale500I run Hcg whenever I'm on a cycle and when I'm on my trt dose. My main reason for using Hcg is because I still wanna have more kids and I don't wanna fuck that up. Hcg helps to maintain my the size and fuction of my testicles, in short.
I know you're not interested in having kids, but for those men on trt that are still interested in having kids in the future, using Hcg with trt can be very beneficial. Trt alone can lower sperm production and intra-testicular test levels, and using Hcg with trt will help to preserve sperm production by maintaining your intra-testicular test levels.
So, using Hcg along with trt will reduce testicular shrinkage and maintain testicular function/sperm production. Imo, if you still want children and are using test or on trt, it's very important to also use Hcg.
HCG produces LH which turns your body on to making more natural Testosterone. I run it off cycle and don't recommend it on TRT!
Hcg is not used often with trt and people maintain normal labs. Might give you a hint.
Alphamale500Hcg is used by many men who are on trt. There are so many men who take the trifecta: Testosterone, Hcg and A.I. Taking Hcg with test is especially important in men who want to maintain their levels of intra-testicular testosterone and keep their testicles producing sperm to preserve their fertility.
So I gotta say, Hcg is used very often by men on trt and it certainly does help maintain certain lab values!
Right on.. thank you. The last two clinics that I worked with insisted on it.
Alphamale500Probably because they didn't wanna cause unnecessary damage to your hormones or reproductive system, in case you want children in the future. But if you're not interested in having more kids and don't care about having shrunken testicles, than I guess it's not so important. Did you ask your doctor about your questions of using Hcg with trt, and do some research? That's what I'd recommend before just deciding not to use it. Hcg has many amazing benefits!
