Getting tested

ad

I am on trt i take 200mg test cyp every 9 days doctor prescribed. My doctor doesnt really know what she is doing. When i was 1st tested before using my test levels were below 200 and after 3 months they were close to 1200 she freaked out saying thats too high. What should my levels be and also how long after i take a shot would be the best time to get tested.

Seems about right. Why she would have started you above 100mg PW is beyond me. Now she has to find a way of lowering your levels without crashing you. BTW - did you get Estrogen and Prolactin tested at the same time? All three should be tested at the same time so that you can monitor your hormonal balance. IMO - TRT should be monitored by an Endo not a GP.

My doc freaks out if I go above 650.

1200 is very high! You might want to get it in a reasonable range 500-600. Unless you plan on doing some heavy lifting at the gym! lol

My endo only cares about my trough testosterone- basically what Greg is saying below - is in the low normal range. He doesn’t care what the peak or intra peak/trough numbers looks like. Oh and he wants my HCT to be less than 0.54. I run high HCT and high RBC and always have (seems to be genetic as my dad is exactly the same). I’ve got low normal blood pressure and so he’s not worried about that aspect and being on trt has hardly changed my HCT/RBC. I donate every 12 weeks which is as often as is allowed here in the UK. Then again he is one of the top trt specialist here. Shows how different doctors practice. I find it quite fascinating.

I know thats high my doctor is just a general doctor and doesnt really know about trt. Will it make a difference on when i get tested like if i get tested 2 days after taking a shot to say 5 days. What would be the best time to get tested after taking a shot?

Just get tested first thing in the morning just before you take your next injection. That will be the number your doc wants.

Whether it's before or after, or a day later isn't going to matter much, the reading you're getting is after weeks of building up your long ester levels, (about 6 weeks to peak using cyp).

Question is, what action did your doctor take to try and get those levels down without shutting you down completely before your next blood draw? Lower dose, longer time between injections...?

We went longer between injections started every 7 days now i take my shot every 10 days.

that's good. Stay the course. It'll take a few tries to dial it in.

Normal ranges for men are 250 to 900. 1200 is high for trt. It really depends on your age. Me @ 42 my doctor tries to get me stable around 500.
