Ronnie Coleman Documentary
That Ronnie Coleman documentary is on Netflix now. In my younger years, Ronnie and Jay Cutler were huge motivators for me. This is not something I’d generally admit out loud, but it was actually a tad difficult for me to watch what he went through, including the Olympia loss, and all the pain and surgeries in the subsequent years. I recently unfollowed him on Instagram because I can’t stand to watch him train in the gym, only shortly after he has major back surgeries and the like, knowing what kind of pain he must be in, and will most likely cause. Also facing the fact that many of us might have to go through something similar, even if it is on a much smaller scale.
That being said, it’s a dope ass movie in my opinion, with many appearances from the greats of the era. It’s undeniable the work the motherfucker put in, and his love for the sport and lifestyle.

jayiskthis is from 01/22..,shit dude keeps getting messed up.
"Ronnie Coleman is going back under the knife.
In another sad turn in the life of Ronnie Coleman, the eight-time Olympia champion finds himself back in the hospital to undergo surgery once again.
The man many consider to be the greatest bodybuilder of all time, Ronnie Coleman has suffered a tremendous amount of damage throughout his career, as documented in Ronnie Coleman: The King, which has resulted in a number of surgeries over the past several years. Now it appears that he’ll have to once again go under the knife in order to correct an injury suffered in a recent accident at home."

Hey guys this is not a repost, I’m in the hospital again getting ready for another surgery. About 2 months ago I had a hard fall at home which herniated a disc in my neck. So today I’m doing a level 3-4 fusion of my cervical spine. Dr says this disc is pressing really hard against my spinal cord so surgery is definitely required. Oh by the way I did get a second opinion within days apart from 2 different spine surgeons and they both told me the same thing. I needed surgery in the next few days. So here we go again, say a prayer for yo boy
Incredible documentary. Thank you, Ace, for bring this to the community's attention.
I believe strongly in personal liberty. Assuming we "do no harm" and all live by the non-aggression principal, then I truly believe that we're allowed to live, and die, however we choose.
We all make choices based on risk vs reward. Ronnie clearly can't let go of lifting from a mental need. It'll kill him. Sad to the outsider, but we don't live inside his brain. It's his life to live, and he's living it how he chooses.
Much respect to him. May we all have the balls that guy has. (For those of you who choose to make testicular atrophy jokes at my comment, knock yourselves out. You, we, all of us, have tiny balls compared to Ronnie, no doubt. Like all of us, the man is human, but he's a beast of a human. Much respect indeed.)
Ace VenturaI’m glad you enjoyed it, zeus!
Awesome vid and good to see some of the other BB greats acknowledging RC's talent and commitment. I don't feel sorry for the guy. He is still alive, has what appears to be a close and loving family, is rich beyond his dreams, and can still train in some ways - so still does what he loves, and actually looks ok. I'm just guessing - but I don't think he would do anything different if he could do it all over again.
Completely agree Oz - He loved every minute of it and lived like the Legend he was. The reason he was so huge and looked so awesome was because he was so strong and lifted such massive weights in the 3 basic movements which ultimately took their toll on him in the end. Problem is lifting those kind of poundages and running compounds that go against the powerlifting grain in terms of water and fat retention, joint lubrication its ruined his tendons/bones and spine etc otherwise I bet he would not be in half the agony he is in now. Who knows - Still the ultimate Mr Olympia for me so far, way more than the likes of Cutler etc. Ronnie had substance....
Ace VenturaHe has said that in the past. I’d guess it still holds true.
Fantastic doc!...
It’s a perfect Greek Tragedy... bodybuilding gave him everything, yet took away the body he built.
I'll watch today.
I met him a few yrs back, he was limping and hunched a bit, no where near as big as I imagined, still my favourite though!
I watched it yesterday, very good documentary.
Quality documentary, really killed me to see him in his current situation.
Ace VenturaI knew he was in pain, but I had no idea he walked the way he does. That’s rough
Great video! I love RC, great guy! Sad to see him in his current situation. Wish and pray for the best for him.
I've been told Ronnie cant walk at all right now. Apparently things have gotten worse.
jayiskSadly Ronnie not listening to Dr's medical advice not to lift weights has only made things worse for him.
Yeah its cool to say Ronnie is hardcore and still going at it. But what cost?
He had both hips replaced and numerous back surgeries and damage.
And at the time ronnie started to have back surgery the medical field was not as advanced in back surgery as it is today. Previously with back surgery you could go in with a 50% chance of never walking again. Now some back surgeries can be done as same day surgery.
Ronnie had several screws that at one point broke and did further damage to his back.
People also dont realize that he has been on long term chronic pain management. which means he eats pain pills like candy.
Which i've noticed has messed his thinking up. 1st he went on national t.v. and tried to blame steroids for killing Dallas Mcgaver. Feeding into the public's already negative view on steroids. Dallas's heart was 3x's the size of a normal heart and that is from growth not steroids. Ronnie should have mentioned that.
2nd Ronnie praises his surgeon in this doc. But now he going around saying if he had a better surgeon he wouldnt be as messed up as he is now. Well buddy you didnt listen to your dr that told you not to go back and lift weights. so man up and stop blaming other people. Pain killers do give you a euphoric feeling but the longer you take them they also cloud your judgement and make you bitter. I do feel he needs them for pain.., just dont think he realizes how they change a person.
I never realised just how Massive Dallas actually was, I watched a video of him at a pre contest posedown with all the other competitors on stage taken maybe a year ago and he absolutely dwarfed all the other guys. He really was Huge...Seemed like a really humble and nice guy with it when interviewed which is v.rare with size.
jayiskThink Dallas was only 23 or so and placed 8th at Mr. O.
Plus he was as strong as a PL. Check out some of his training vids. Off season sitting around 320+
Def. had the potential to be one of the greatest.
Can’t wait to watch it
Watched it last night.. it was fantastic.. it's sad seeing the king like that now.. that man loves lifting still even though it's destroyed him
iam watching it as we speak !! KING RONNIE !!
What is the name of the program? I don't have Netflix so will try to Google it - thanks.
Edit: found it - Ronny Coleman: the King.
A must watch. Cheers for sharing.
Definitely going to check it out!
Ronnie Coleman best of all time. Man he was truly blessed by the iron Gods!! Sad to see him now but I'm 100% even he wouldn't change a thing if he could. I've watched all his training vids and all his documentarys and always get hyped every damn time!
DobermannJust finished with the movie very nice movie...the King!
Hard to watch
I just started it, but damn!
Such a good dude all around.
Ha. Hey y’all tired of eatin chicken? Wanna trade?!
trade pizza witch chicken and pizza with burgers ,the guy is top !!

great documentary, watched it last night .
Ronnies attitude is amazing dude, he just stands up to everything no matter what.
Good to know I'm watching that tonight for sure
He will always be one of the best. The work he put in is second to none. At least in my opinion.
I watched it last night. Thanks for the heads up!
Awesome but sad at the same time watching it.
Will watch this, thanks.
Was just watching Dave Polumbo and Shawn Rhoden’s discussion about Ronnie on the way to work. Quite interesting
I will have to watch.
Definitely going to have to watch. Ronnie and Jay have been the only two BBers who were screen savers on my phone. I’m so glad I’m not as strong as Tonnie becuase if I was I’d have done the same shit as him. Going that heavy takes a toll for sure. Even if structurally you stay sound the toll on you internally is equally impactful.
Greatest of all time
Is it called Ronnie Coleman the king
jayiskand its a proper doc not some shitty half ass thing.
It's been buffering at 5% for like 20 minutes fucking comcast
Go fucking figure my Wi-Fi is fucking up
Sweet thanks bro I'll go check it out
For sure, hard to see him go through it. I met him at a Texas Ranger game, I grew up in the DFW area, and he spent a good 10 mins talking to me about working out and eating a bunch of meals every day. Super down to earth and treated me like I was his friend. He will always be my favorite BB. I’m going to watch this ASAP. Thanks.
Achilles412Great watch brother. Really great watch very sad to see him that way especially knowing he has young kids. Best part of movie is when cutler says he doesn’t want people to think he beat the best Ronnie Coleman. Mad respect to him for
Saying that.
Get-bigI love ol Ronnie Coleman..... He inspires the hell out of me!!! He made the impossible possible back in his day.. I pray he will be able to walk again soon. Have you guys checked out that 23yr old Larry wheels? He is a beast... He reminds me of Ronnie Coleman!
Great power the way Ronnie had. But he’s already leaning on drugs to make it happen. Ronnie natty at the ‘94 Olympia beat the pants off of Wheels juiced to the gills.
Ronnie natural at the 1994 Olympia?
I believe 94 he was still natty. He’s talked about it pretty extensively in interviews. Placed like 16th. Then flex wheeler and him had a talk in a hotel room apparently and that was when he started to “enhance”.
No one know apart from Ronnie and I’m not trying to take anything away from him. In my opinion his on boat loads. The owner of metroflex not only gave him a free gym membership but also a boat load of gear also, why wouldn’t you? A guy like Ronnie who looks better than all of us when he’s natural? I’d question the gym owners mind if he didn’t give Ronnie a blast before he was competing in the Olympian considering he owns a ‘serious weight lifting gum’ Aka juice gym where everybody is on gear himself included.
The interview guy mention about flex I think his wording was a little different? I took it that flex showed him the taboos, monster blasts and Ronnie had only been doing small stuff previously.
You may be right. I think it’s one of those things that gets debated because who the hell knows except the man himself.
Achilles412Absolutely a monster insanely strong great build but not even in Ronnie’s stratosphere. The year When Ronnie hit 290 on stage in the red trunks and had striations in his ass cheeks and had every single muslce in his back visable he took the crown as the ultimate alien. Ain’t never been anyone before him or since
