Constipation cure?

ad

Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone here has any knowledge about constipation and ways too help or cure it. I know it must be somewhat common in our community as we consume much more calories than an average person. It happened on week 4 of a test and dbol cycle (dbol 20mg/day). Wondering if maybe dbol had something to do with it? I know its a low dose. I also remember eating 5 bananas in one day so I'm pretty sure that added to my constipation. Also Im following a vertical diet approach and have eaten all of the foods before; and normally they digest fine.

I've tried:
Laxatives( sennosides, stool softener , mineral oil)
Fasting for 2 days

been about a week and a half and still backed up I scheduled an appt with Doc but I value the experience of other members on here as well, any input appreciated.

Get some Metamucil and use a heaping tablespoon mixed in water right before bed.
Do this EVERY single night, never forget. This will help your bowel movements drastically!

This is what I take twice a day. Also huge fan of digestive enzymes, especially on bulk.

You may have CIC or IBS-C It's best to go to a GI Doc to find out. If you have either of those two conditions there are two FDA approved drugs to treat them. Linzess and Trulance.

You could also try a very high fiber diet including Physillium.

Yes I agree...the meds are a last resort!

Hey, I'm a little late on this, but here is my .02. This happens to me when I go on a strict high protein diet. First of all, make sure you are drinking enough or more than enough water. Everyone has a food that makes them ....Uhm..."regular". For me it's broccoli and oatmeal. So knowing this I eat these foods for a "purpose". Every night have either streamed peas or broccoli with a meal, and before bed a bowl of oatmeal. Between these and WATER, I cannot stress the water enough, I have no issues. But if life gets hectic and I deviate, then I am reminded of why I can't let that happen.

So there's my advice on a perfect poop.

Thanks everyone, water+less food seemed to cure it. I drank two gallons and the next morning I was regular.

I take benefiber regularly (soluble fiber), but I did buy some psyllium and it seems to be working great. Guess I needed more insoluble fiber.

I am chronically constipated for medication and laxatives are ok but they can be extremely uncomfortable if they don’t cause a movement. Mira—lax is a miracle worker if your really backed up it can take a few days but there’s no cramping or uncomfortableness with it. If problem persists just start adding it into your diet 2-3 times a week. Just mix the powder in 5-6 oz juice or Gatorade and down it or if on a diet crystal light or things like that would work fine too

I use a bottle of Magnesium Citrate saline solution. You can get at local drug store over counter. Works for me within a few hours. Best of luck I know it sucks.

Water, plenty of water

Are you taking any opiates?

Greg's picture

He's taking steroids which dehydrates you. Your gut needs water to do its job.

I agree. I’m just making sure there aren’t other contributing factors he didn’t mention is all.

Lactulose is pretty good and just a sugar, if that doesnt work epsom salt will haha

Fangsharp's picture

Epsom salt 1 tablespoon in warm 4-8 ozs water. Be near a restroom within 30-45 minutes. Not joking. This will alleviate any painful backed up condition.

zeusmarada's picture

YES YES YES.

I second the motion, your honor!

Salt in water, and don't get impatient. Your body will expel whatever is backed up, and it will expel it violently!

Don't trust your farts if you do this approach. (Please don't ask ol' ZeusM why I'd give you this advice.)

Fangsharp's picture

It definitely is an act of desperation once you realize what it does. I've never heard "that didn't work"

bigbob's picture

forgot to mention I get 35 grams of fiber from my diet

Protein4breakfast's picture

With that much fiber if you’d not drinking at least a gallon of water a day can make you very constipated
