+ 2 Vasectomy and cycle queries

ad

So I’ve got the green light from the missus to get the snip, she won’t be reporting me for damaging her property!!

I want this done as soon as possible but I’m currently on cycle, I’m due to start PCT in mid/late February, I can’t see steroids interfering with the procedure but I understand there will be some down time regarding training, this is more important to me than meeting goals so I’m prepared to do whatever it takes.

I see a few possibilities but would like some advice on the best way to handle it. If I get it done on cycle, take a week or so off training, the steroids may prevent loss of muscle, then by the time I get to PCT I’m ready to give it my all again. Or I could wait until PCT, take the week or so off training while I don’t feel like training and loose a bit more than I would have without the down time, or finally, wait until after PCT and natural levels have returned.

My initial thought is the latter is going to be the suggested way, I’m prepared to cut my cycle short and start PCT sooner if that’s the way to go.

I also don’t know what the timescale will be for the procedure in UK, input from experience would be appreciated, will it be a case of telling the doctor I want it and it gets done there and then or wait 6 months for an appointment with a specialist ball chopper?

I'm pretty sure you can get back in the gym the next day

You go ahead and do that, let us know how it goes.

One week update, I had a kicked in the balls kinda feeling last Sunday night, by Monday morning it was a dull ache that had gone by the night, didn’t stop me getting head though! She agreed to some gentle action on Tuesday but stopped me after a short while so I didn’t over do it, I would have liked to know about a time limit before we started! Then some not so gentle action on Wednesday, no problems!

Whenever I stand up I feel a slight pulling sensation, doesn’t really bother me, I’m sure it’ll go after a while. Back to work yesterday, taking it easy, after a couple of hours I started getting a light squeezing feeling, not painful, just a bit uncomfortable, that faded a few hours after work. Today everything seemed to be back to normal until late in the day when I crouched to pick something up a bit too fast and felt one hell of a pull, that stuck around for a few hours!

I’ll be taking it fairly easy over the weekend, might try some light weights to see how it goes, definitely no squats after today’s experience!

Savage72's picture

Just a bit of advice, I had this done about 9 years ago, follow doctors instructions about activity. I felt great after 2 days and went back to work. I figured id just get a light arm workout in, what could that hurt? WRONG. simply raising my blood pressure and super mild exertion made me swell and throb in all the wrong ways. Take it easy and let your body recover and you should have no problem. I had a friend who went surfing 2 days after and his sack swole up like a football. R&R, all the best.

Rob83's picture

Thanks for the heads up! I still have no pain or discomfort this morning and was starting to think I was good to go, I’ll heed your advice, there’s nowhere I need to be so I’ll stick to laying around!

Rob83's picture

All done! Wasn’t that bad, the anaesthetic injection was the worst bit, a little bit uncomfortable when he was pulling the tubes out, I’m back home with a bag of frozen veg, just starting to get a bit uncomfortable!

My girlfriend was more nervous than I was, right before I went in she offered to take me home instead, I thought she’d changed her mind about more kids at first, but she said she was just worried about me. She was in the room with me but wouldn’t watch, just sat at the end of the room looking pale!

The doctor was spot on, just the right amount of humour to keep the mood light without making me worry about his abilities!

I have to make an appointment in 3 months to provide a sample for testing, that’s at my local hospital and has to be done on site, I thought I’d get to do it at home and drop it off, I don’t suppose it matters as long as I have data left on my phone and get signal in the hospital!

Pale's picture

I never went back for the 3 month. I figured we would know soon enough if it worked or not lol. They don't fail very often is my understanding.

Rob83's picture

He said the failure rate is 1 in 700, the leaflet I was given says there’s a 1 in 2000 chance of fathering a child after a clear sample, after seeing the length of tube he cut out I’d be very surprised if it didn’t work, my body isn’t that good at repairing itself!

giardap's picture

Nice one, well done!!

Hopefully they have a nice nurse there to give you hand in 3 months!!!

Rob83's picture

Having read your posts about blood letting and gyno surgery I’m sure you could pull this off, alibaba have no scalpel vasectomy kits, I await your step by step how to!

The slight discomfort has passed, currently feeling completely normal down there, maybe tomorrow will bring something new, I’ll keep you posted.

pickle's picture

Glad that went well! The whole pulling the tubes out is what scares me. How long did the whole thing take start to finish?

Rob83's picture

From my name being called to walking out was around 30mins, he asked the same questions as before, do we have kids, do we want any more etc. then explained the procedure, even drew a picture to show what he would be doing, told me about the cost and success rate of reversal, then had me sign to say I understand and want to proceed.

The procedure itself didn’t take long, around 10 mins, then gave me an after care sheet and some paperwork for the sample and explained what I need to do to arrange an appointment for the sample, then walked us back out (it was a bit of a maze!)

DfromPhilly's picture

Congrats. Glad it went well. I’ll be getting snipped in 2 years for my fiancé’s 35 birthday so she can finally get off birth control. Happy to see it wasn’t a big deal for you and went smoothly.

I’m sorry if you already answered the question but how long will you be out of the gym? And more importantly how long til you can deadlift & squat?

Rob83's picture

I was told lay down for 24 hours, take it easy for two days, no heavy lifting for a week and no sports for two weeks, I’m taking that as no gym for a week, I’ll try squats with just the bar to get a feel for it, then add weight a bit at a time and see how it goes.

Ozninjaguy's picture

Had mine done many years ago. Was in the gym 3-4 days later, but was told no heavy lifting for a couple of weeks - which was around the time the stitches came out. The whole procedure was quick and painless; less than 30 minutes. The only painful part was when the farkin' bitch nurse removed the stitches - I think she was a man-hating lesbian judging by the disrespect with which she treated my boys.

Rob83's picture

Thankfully I didn’t get stitches, I’m not sure what he did to close it up, it just looks like a deepish scratch!

I managed to get an appointment with my GP today, he asked why I wanted it, what I knew about it and had I discussed it with my partner, he was happy enough with my answers, and told me he’d write a referral letter.

It’ll be done at a hospital, not my nearest hospital, they don’t seem to do anything anymore, but it’s still within reasonable driving distance, I have to wait for a letter from them for a consultation, they’ll discuss my options and take it from there.

He said it shouldn’t take long to get in because it’s only a day surgery. So I just have to wait now, I’ll keep you all updated as I move through the system!

giardap's picture

Nice 1!
Good luck!!

The appointment request letter came today, I have a choice of 2 GPs, no mention of the hospital I was told it would be, but both options are closer anyway.

Both options are for no scalpel vasectomies, I have to phone the one I want to make an appointment, it doesn’t say either way in the letter but I assume I’m booking a consultation rather than the actual procedure, obviously I’ll check when I call tomorrow.

I didn’t expect to get a letter so soon, maybe I’ll get in sooner than I thought!

Rob83's picture

Phoned and made an appointment, two weeks today, it’s for the vasectomy, not just a consultation, I’ve booked a few days off work the following week to be safe.

I’m pleasantly surprised how quickly it’s all happened, around 3 weeks from getting the go ahead the job will be done and it’ll just be a case of waiting for the pipes to clear! Hopefully this will be the end of the depo injection and the beginning of a happier future for us as a family.

Greg's picture

I would not be, "pleasantly surprised how quickly it’s all happened"

GB seems very anxious for you to get snipped. I'd take it as an insult.

GrowMore's picture

None scalpel. I want to google but don’t want to! Good stuff mate

In the information leaflet they emailed me it says to trim the hair really short but shaving is not necessary, although when the missus asked if I’d be shaving before I go, I said I’m sure they would do it for me, she said she’d get jealous and asked to do it for me, of course I’m going to let her! She’s been really adventurous lately, I’m not sure if it’s a trap or she’s just happy at the way things are turning out!

Rob83's picture

Not that kind of trap, I was thinking along the lines of she’s going to ask for something awfully expensive and this is her way of building up to it!!

Veet ‘sensative’, fuck shaving

There is a mini marathon here every year, for the ladies, women's mini marathon.
My and my mate dressed up as birds and ran it for charity. when you cross the finish they give you a finishers pack
Sanitary towels (that got stuck on to my head for a smellfie of course), fkn moisturizer shit like that.... and a thing of veet.

Fair enough I thought, good for the goose, good for the gander. Straight home for a shower and on with the veet. 5 mins later, 1st degree burns all over my bollocks, asshole and groin area.

Fkn lying bitches.

She's secretly broken into your stash of Anavar. Just getting ready probably.

I love the smell of burning flesh!... on the grill... and not when it's mine.

Greg's picture

How ironically appropriate I just realized your avatar is Lt kilgore... "I love the smell of napalm in the morning."

Rob83's picture

When she first gave the go ahead she went straight to google images, pulled some faces then said “nope” and closed the tab, I figured I didn’t want to see after that!

giardap's picture

The no scalpel uses some sort of special scissors instead of the blade! (thats about all I know, was afraid to ask more about it!!!)

Had my boys snipped 10 years ago in the army, I was 20 if I remember correctly. The doctor tried to talk me out of it, saying I was to young to make such a decision, so I hit him with ol " Its my body and I choose to do this" then snip snip.

I have had a few girls try and say I knocked them up since then, seeing as how I do not pull out. I understand there trepidation . Even still the look on there face is priceless when I tell them I've had a vasectomy, because they are quite convinced its mine.

0newheelup's picture

I had mine done recently and it wasnt bad at all. I Put ice on them as soon as u leave. Kept on ice for 48hrs. DO NOT rush the healing process. Stay in bed for three days, light mobility for next two days and dont lift anything for 10days. As far as sex, I started some 3rd base stuff at day 5 and took it home on day 8. Keep it clean and be gentle. I've had no problems w swelling or anything. One side will be more sensitive than the other, even 5 months later I can feel it if the miss's hits it alil hard messin around. Workout, I kept it on light duty for 3wks. Be sure to clean the pipes out about 20xs before U go barebacking, swimmers are still active in ya. Good luck brother

zeusmarada's picture

Even though it's a fairly quick procedure (as far as "surgeries" go) it still requires you to be wise. Don't rush things. Your body will indeed need to heal.

Whatever you choose, keep us posted! Your experience will hopefully help other men make better informed decisions when it comes time to get the snippity snip.

A little tid bit: Get bags of frozen veggies to use as "ice packs" for the swelling. I used corn or peas. Not ashamed, and I'll take all the shit that other guys wanna fling me. This isn't about being alpha. This is about recovering from the procedure without getting infections or other complications. And yes, when I was done using the veggies as ice packs, I put them in the crockpot with a bunch of chopped up meat and had a hell of a steak soup. ZeusM is a food loving freak show, again, no apologies.

Good luck brother, and enjoy shooting blanks for the rest of your life. It's SO WORTH IT for the piece of mind. (again, assuming your context is that you don't want anymore children! At least, anymore of your own biological children. I've said, "I'll raise my nieces and nephews if shit goes down," but other than that, ol' Zeus is done procreating. I had a good run, boys. It's a good thing to get the snip and hang up my boots on my professional playing career...)

Rob83's picture

Good call on the frozen veg! I’ll be taking a week off work, I’ve already been promised a week of being looked after, I’ll chip in and defrost the veg for her!

Greg's picture

Don't be too sure about that. I tried it, now I can't sit down for dinner anymore without getting an erection...

dextetherdog's picture

For any OP I would definitely recommend to be off everything and also I would make sure all my blood work is in range - general blood work + hormones.
I would like to know my body is 100% ready for an OP, not leaving any chances.

johnmarshall12's picture

IMO best to do it off cycle if you can wait!

Becausesquat's picture

It was the best thing I ever did you won't regret it

Greg's picture

There are a LOT of us that don't regret that you got a vasectomy. On the behalf of everyone, thank you.
