If your life is so hectic with the info im going of with what you wrote below. Buy 2 20kg dumbells that you can change the weight and do a few sets out at home and if your supplementing and dieting well you should be able to build a nice physique.

dudebro's picture

Just drag your ass there and do a couple sets. Everything usually falls into place after that. Create a sensible routine that fits into your schedule.

awagz's picture

I'm with Dudebro on this one. I usually always feel like staying home. I wake up early and work long hours, so after work all I want to do is go home, take a shit and relax. However I did find that PWO (wether it be traditional powders, 5 HR energy or coffee) and not as effective as MENTALLY wanting it. A few sets in and I'm usually firing on all cylinders.

Also I remember how many hot ass women go to my gym, and seeing them in there is usually motivation enough to at least GET to the gym.

If you want it bad enough you'll make time. I'm ready to drop when I get home after a hard day, I get washed changed and have something to eat. It's around 7pm at this point, for the next hour I'll just lay back and snooze, then quick coffee then out the door, fortunately the gym is just a quick 2 minutes drive away which is a great help.

You need a kick up the ass if all else fails lol.

I get up at 7 and go to work at 9
I got no time for living cuz im working all the time
It seems to me I could live my life
A lot better then I think I am
I guess thats why they call me
They call me the working man.

In all seriousness I have zero motivation to go to the gym. Bust your ass for 10 hours then fight traffic to get to the gym. You have to call a cab because you have to park 3 blocks away. When you finally get inside and change you come out and all you see are people using the machines as a park bench while they text or play a fkn game. When you get to the free weights you have to push your way through the wannabe bodybuilders who stand in front of the weights because thats where the mirror is. Flexing their abs in the mirror because abs on a skinny guy is about as useful as big tits on a fat girl. My motivation is going straight to a bench or free weights, warming up with 90% of my 1rm then straight crushing the weights. Thats my motivation, being able to lift more weight then everyone in the gym. I guess its easier for me because its not my life at this point as much as it was years ago. Now Im about how much I can lift, not how good I look in a banana hammock. Once you find your reason to go, it will be much easier to go when you do.

Why is it that the fat and skinny guys roll up that shirt sleeves to show their entire arm..trying to make their t shirt sleeveless. ..i go to planet fitness and everything you said is true.

I work 60 hours a week and I had to modify my work outs because of it.. it's my place where I decompress and the feel of iron calms me

If you're talking about motivation I'm sorry but there's no help for it. If you don't have it just start to consider the fact it's not for you.

But if you're talking specifically about fatigue there are some points you should pay attention and observe like mentioned before by @Makwa

  • Diet (especially amount of carbs in the last meal before training)
  • Resting/Sleeping (If your job gets you physically exhausted, train in the morning befeore going to work. And make sure you sleep well)
  • Coffee! why not? not pills, a good real coffee before training!

Perfect response. I know PWO's are the in thing but they will not be as healthy or as effective as a plain old cup of java..

Papa-pwn's picture

Take off uniform. Look at self. Feel small. That's pretty much how it goes for me

Bulkdaddy's picture

Gym is part of my routine every day. If I don't go then my day is not fulfilled and I feel like I did something wrong.

I guess that is the difference between you and me. I don't need moto to go to the gym, it is just what I do unless I am sick or hurt. If it is a scheduled lift day (and sometimes even if it isn't) I am going to be there.

DragonDog's picture

Get some meth or crack, you will be gtg. J/k. Do you eat alot of carbs? If so, change your diet, reduce the carbs, so your body pulls energy from your fat, not the carbs. You will have more energy. It takes a month for the body to adapt.

Look in the mirror, if you need more motivation you're in the wrong game.

Wait until your in your 50's you'll be thinking like that at times just to get out of bed...

My motivation is that I'm not going to let any 20, 30, 40, something year old (or in KMC's case, some ancient dino) show me up by saying they have the willpower to stick it out where I do not.

So, Do you have what it takes to out do a 58 year old fart like myself?
Would it help if I throw down the gauntlet (aka a glove when KMC was 25) you punk ass millennial...
(I mean that in the kindest no homo way)

a stout glove with a long loose wrist.

...Actually, I never knew how gay that sounds

I saw that movie when it came out. The same year I graduated high school.
Odd to think half of the people here weren't born until 15 - 20 years later.

ironcarpenter52's picture

Did they give out diplomas when you graduated. Or still written on a light piece of granite. Just a funny

Greg's picture

Goat skin... granite was for ivy league schools.

...I wish I could find that damn goat.

Don't know what your diet is but that could partly be the blame. Are you sleeping well at night? Possibly overtraining?....Take a few days off to let your central nervous system recover.

My motivation is that 2nd place sucks. Get my ass to the gym if I want that 1st place trophy because I know the guy who will be standing next to me got his ass to gym even though he was tired also.

vhman's picture

I get up at 5 am every day and I work out at about 7:30 pm. The secret is dedication. It's just part of my schedule. You don't miss work because you're tired and anything else that you deem important.
I do take a pre-workout, but I take the normal amount. Once I get to the gym I'm fine.

TheLeftHand's picture

I take 8 oz of orange juice (only fruit for the day and only before i lift) and mix it with a scoop of C4 and a scoop of creatine with a bowl of original oatmeal. 45 minutes later I have all the energy I need to work out morning or night. Give it a shot.

Pwo motivation is a must I'm a blue collar man myself and you just have to stay motivated brotha! There's definitely ups and downs, sometimes I'm very consistant and others I'm working 12s n I'm not so consistant but try to incorporate some workouts into our work day... Example I lift heavy shit in the job, so grab it up n do a few shrugs bro, good luck

Muffins's picture

That random women are going to be staring at me the whole time I'm lifting wishing they could have a piece. That does it for me.

SlowBro's picture
