+ 1 Detox: personal experiences
ad
We all know someone who swears by different detox methods and their health benefits. I personally did the Master Cleanse about 10 years ago. Not sure if I remember the overall effect, but I remember losing bloat and feeling good after the first 4-5 days and lasting over 10 days.
Obviously, none of that is a solution for weight loss but I'm interested in its therapeutic effect. Did anyone try it or a similar protocol simply to expel metabolic gunk, give up caffeine and other stimulants, and allowing the digestive system a beneficial yet unnecessary break? Is it worth it to mess with metabolism like that?

I use colonblow. A few scoops with my protein shake, and I am leaving Hershey stains on all fours walls.
CelestiaxThat's a scary name lol
Dave_61Have any of you guys used the prep cleanse before getting a colonoscopy? Boy, that'll clean your body out for sure! I had to use it the day before a Wednesday, and when I went to the doctor and had the colonoscopy done, I awoke from the anesthesia only to have him tell me that I wasn't cleaned out good enough so he couldn't perform the procedure, and I would have to repeat the procedure on the following Wednesday. Can you believe that shit? And I did everything right too. That really sucked!
But, it's definitely true what they say, the prep cleanse on the day before the procedure is really the worst part of the whole thing. During the colonoscopy, you're fully asleep so you don't feel anything! You actually wake up feeling kind of refreshed.-No Homo!
CelestiaxWhat did they give you? My elderly mother had to take two bottles of magnesium citrate and I felt so bad for her. But that was good enough for the colonoscopy.
EAT CLEAN!
CelestiaxWorking on it. Already took out all processed foods, reduced grains and dairy and strictly eating vegetables and high quality meats.
When i need a good cleanse i usually buy $25 worth of Taco Bell and eat it all in one sitting. That cleans me out real good.
On a serious note, eat healthy and take care of yourself and the hardcore detox's shouldnt be necessary. Regarding caffeine, i do think its a fantastic idea to come off completely for a month every 4 or 5 months. Your body can become extremely dependent on it.
CelestiaxBwahaha I bet you could get away with 4 items from the dollar menu. I just came back to life recently after long years of neglect, toxic relationship and depression. So I'm looking to catch up and see if there's anything I'm missing. I agree with you, a correct diet, abstaining from processed garbage, eliminating or greatly reducing alcohol, caffeine and other toxins is the way to go.
Hahaha Taco Bell rocks - when of the first things I remember about visiting the states. Think we went there just about everyday, Jack in the box too...
CelestiaxGo to Five Guys next time, it's the best greasy, dirty burger you can have lol
I think its more like high priced Wendy's myself
CelestiaxInteresting! I can totally agree with this. Just the fries have different seasoning upon request.
Sounds like a good visit to the states!!!
Taco bell is my guilty pleasure. Have not had it in a few months though, this clean bulk has taken some serious discipline lmao
Jack in the Box munchie meals are dangerously good too....
CelestiaxBwahaha sounds like a foodie, I bet your friends and family must love sharing meals with you. Cheers!
My wife hates sharing with me, when we get sushi she splits everything in half or else i will eat it all before she gets any LOL
Dave_61I think a good way to cleanse your system and detox your body, would be by flushing out your body by drinking lots of pure water. None of those bullshit cleansing herbs and shit, just by drinking lots of plain water. I'm not sure about the exact amounts, you can google it I'm sure, but I don't believe that all those cleansing herbs are necessary.
Those herbs are unnecessary and overpriced.
just go for the leftovers in the fridge that are over a week old.
CelestiaxDo you eat or throw whatever you have in a blender and drink it?
I make fried "mystery" rice.
They have proven now, that the usual juicing cleanses and all of that nonsense is particularly damaging to our organs.
For me, dropping all processed foods, hydrating properly and sorting my sleep is the go-to detox.
CelestiaxTotally agree. I eliminated all processed foods, greatly reduced grains, dairy and caffeine and focusing on fresh vegetables and high quality meats and I feel great. I thought that those detoxes might have an edge hence the reason they're popular, but I guess everyone that advocates from them is either trying to sell you something, or just want to go about health and weight loss the wrong way.
