+ 1 Beneficial effects of Metformin on energy metabolism and visceral fat volume
ad
Metformin is known to have a beneficial effect on body weight and body composition, although the precise mechanism has not been elucidated yet. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of metformin on energy metabolism and anthropometric factors in both human subjects and rats.
From the results obtained, beneficial effects of metformin on visceral fat reduction has been demonstrated probably through a mechanism for a potential shift of fuel resource into fat oxidation and an upregulation of adaptive thermogenesis independent of an anorexigenic effect of this drug.

eddoJust remember Metformin does lower IGF1 levels. I think that’s the main reason it’s not that popular for bodybuilding? If it didn’t do that it would be perfect...
eddoMore info on Metformin here:

Thanks so much for this post. I began metformin after reading this, and I think it's already showing some results.
eddoSlightly off topic but apparently Berberine is very comparable to metformin and it’s an over the counter supplement...does anyone have any experience with that?

That link is a great article about berberine, well worth a read.
I’ve been using berberine in my supplement routine since i read it.
eddoCheers Faz I’m researching Berberine now, it sounds very beneficial especially while running HGH. Thanks for the link
RustyhookerNothing like diahrea when youre trying to gain mass.
No kidding, but my body adjusted after a week or so...just needed my brown gym shorts on squat days....
RustyhookerDead pool dead lifts! Haha
Been using Metf for 4 years, but I haven't noticed any difference on fat reduction. For the record, I work out regularly, same amount per week as I did before Metf.
I'm taking it primarily for its other "side effects", cell renewal and anti-aging properties. More info here https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S104327601930147X & https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4682208/
Again, can't say if it's working or not lol, but I'm sticking to it in case it'll work in a long run.
Using metformin now with my HGH cycle
1000mg daily
I'd be interested in hearing if it helps with the insulin sensitivity GH causes...I just started 6 IU a day myself.
Of course helping! Make blood test to see your level of insulin when you using GH. My insulin grow from 7 IU..
Metformin has been around bodybuilding forever. Its uses are varied, but one needs to be careful with it to avoid getting hypoglycemic.
I've got a bunch of em, but haven't really decided if they're worth researching and messing with. What's your estimation of their value for bodybuilders?
What convinced me was a few factors. I am conditionally a Type II diabetic, Metformin is mild and can be dosed low to high, (500 mg/meal-1000mg/meal) and it sensitizes the insulin receptors for muscle tissue, not fat cells, so in regards to nutrient partitioning it pushes carbs into muscles not fat cells like straight insulin. I noticed a fuller look to my muscle bellies in a matter of days, but, It gave me the shits for a week.
