+ 3 Pony Express temporarily suspends incoming packages from China

ad

This may put a hamper on international packages. The article states incoming parcels from Hong Kong and China are suspended until further notice.

It will be fine, delayed not delayed. Most src will reship to US or use other means of shipment. I’m still waiting for quite a few orders. Then I’ll be good for a while but I’ll purchase when the sales is too good to pass up.

Just out of curiosity... where abouts do you live?

Some of you have ordered 100s of bottles in the last six months, why complain when you have enough gear for 10 lifetimes?

It sucks but I’m hoping this is temporary. This happened in 2019, things resumed as usual.

SimonM84's picture

Yep. This happens every so often.

And you guys see I'm not in to politics but alot of people said this Was Trump's first real mistake and maybe he act took some of his aids advice bc the Canadian and Mexican 25% tariffs were supposed to go into effect today but they also been temporarily paused for 30 days. Now Canada if he keeps that I think there toast what do we actually import from Canada besides maybe a lil oil and maple syrup I don't think they have a play but Mexico is different 80% of our avocados and 20% of our tomatoes come from Mexico. I think China is a bad idea to bc everything comes from china not just the raws for gear but raws for most meds. And you piss China off enough they blockade Taiwan then what there goes all the transistors. I think he should make his to do list and take his time crossing them off like first getting all the criminal immigrants out of the country go after the cartels I think if he sent regular soilders In there it be Vietnam all over again but sending tier 1 units in the cartels will get smoked we don't even know who's in our tier 1 units especially delta force.

I work in the construction industry, and Canada is one of our biggest suppliers of steel for commercial door frames. A large quantity of commercial wood doors is also manufactured there.

These are not by any means small industries...we're talking 100s of billions annually.

The US buys electricity from Canada. Most of it is used in NY.

And 2/3 of the imported oil is canadian.
As for fentanyl, last year 42 lbs from canada, 21,000 lbs from Mexico, and the fentanyl going to canada from the US was about 15 lbs.

Seems Canada is looking into selling oil and natural gas to china, maybe build greenhouse to grow veggies in the winter with their surplus electricity.
US is set up to process heavy crude(canadian),.............not the light crude(USA) they produce in country,

That already reversed the decision and it was goods over 800 dollars anyway...any shipper worth their salt will put it's value way way under that that's been known forever too

Drexyl's picture

They’re going too much. Unless it’s a blitzkrieg to confuse everyone and keep opponents occupied, unless Trump has a superb team too much is going to fall through the cracks

They reversed that decision today.

dussasr's picture

Thanks - hadn't heard that yet and I have two packages inbound!

smurfdude1234567's picture

I saw that just now- they didn’t release much but stated they will “work with Customs and Border Protection to implement a collection process for the new China tariffs to avoid delivery disruptions.”

I wonder what that entails. Really not much has been said press wise when enacted or when reversed today- I’m sure more will come to light within the next day or two

dussasr's picture

My guess is that the packages will still go through, but at some point in the near future a duty will be applied as they go through customs. This may cause the shippers to raise prices to cover the duty. However, as these packages are already mislabeled due to their prohibited content, the duty will also likely be falsified. They could just put the customs value down as $10 or something small so the duty would only be a few bucks. I see it as a bigger issue for a legit shipper like Temu than for someone shipping in roids.

Sam I Am's picture

They can still send it OOPS or Carrior Pigeon.

Import kangaroos,..........hide it in their pouches.

Those would also have to pay the duty, similar to Pony Express

Everyone has to remember, the most important part of the serenity prayer isnt "accept the things i cannot change, courage to change the things i can" but the most important part of that is "the wisdom to know the difference". This too shall pass

SimonM84's picture

Key word here is temporarily. They’ve done this before

SMASHTASTIC's picture

I work in this industry. Millions of packages flood into the US eveyday from China using commercial global freight forwarders and low cost third party carrier/courier networks for final mile delivery, bypassing Pony Express altogether. If this is intended to taget the big guys like Temu, Shein, and such, commercial carriers will have to follow suit or it won't be very impactful. This still has a huge impact on a lot of business and trade but the names referenced in the article have supply chains that are resilient to this.

Radri86's picture

Well this is not good. Some of the src I ordered from didn’t even ship yet because of the Chinese new year, they will restart on feb 7-8. Bummer

Saw it coming. Thank the lords and can only pray this starts to slow down the real issues their targeting.

I know it sucks for some of y’all using Chinese gear, but this has a way bigger goal!

Pumped_'s picture

Going to suck for a lot of "domestic" that restocks from there also. Lets see if the smart enough to use a different carrier

Anything coming in from China will have to pay the duty regardless of the carrier. I don't think it matters much, though, as they already falsify the shipping documents so they can also falsify the value. Duty on $10 of declared value is only a few bucks. If the shipment gets inspected it will be confiscated regardless.

smurfdude1234567's picture

Let’s hope those ones are smart enough to make changes and/or stocked up stateside haha

For real.... . For all the domestics who get everything they use from there. Lol.

Most smart ones have been going through a particular service- I have on good authority from 2 decent domestic sources that they will not be affected at all. Held true with the last few scares while other SRCs chose to price gouge. I hope it holds true!

Saving some life’s from more fentanyl accessibility and countless other black market goods is more important than some SRCing issues imo. I’m all for it haha

TrenAThor's picture

I just had something coming from a int. vendor and its been in the states for about 4 days traveling then today midway through travel I got a text saying:(package did not have proper postage applied and will not be delivered. Then to contact the vendor to figure out what to do next). Not saying it had to do with this posting but I never had that happen so it was just odd. I'm sure it was a honest mistake.

I’ve had this happen a few times; either “incomplete address” or “insufficient postage”. It turned out to be spam or scam and everything arrived fine. Not saying this is what is going on with ur package but all may not be lost. Good luck

TrenAThor's picture

I saw that when I looked around on the web. So even if it shows up on the original postal website with that issue there's a chance it's still a possible scam?

I wonder if the other carriers will follow suit. This is interesting news for sure. Thanks for posting.

MrDadBod2023's picture

Great. I had gear that was going to be delivered any day that shipped from China. I use it for TRT.. Don’t have the funds to replace it. Guess I’ll be feeling like crap soon. I wonder how the sites that guarantee delivery will handle this if they have other international sources

Knowyourrole88's picture

If it already left china and your expecting it any day I think you should be fine bro
