Original post from:
I stumbled across this today. Apparently the FDA is cracking down on NAC sales. Amazon has stopped selling it, and it appears eBay is next.

The FDA can’t ban supplements unless they pose safety risk or are adulterated/misbranded/or the label or compound make the product a drug under their regulatory control - sponsors must submit new drug applications to license a product for interstate commerce. It is actually bullshit to take one of the best tools from the supplement shelf, but people don’t realize it can damage the liver just as easy as protect it. Drinking? Take it after the night is done and you double your liver stress; take it an hour before and you saved your liver and reduced many deleterious symptoms of peroxide and ethanol induced ROS free radical damage. So, since we don’t know why or what the hell is the difference, a public health argument is justified. However, as usual, it was probably vilified after dumb workout brands labelled it with false health claims or claims intended to treat the human body of condition or disease, making it a drug. Man, this is frustrating.
Amazon didn't ban it. You can thank the FDA for making this amino acid a prescription only item. Studies are showing it to be effective in the treatment of COVID. The FDA can't have a natural supplement interfere with their vaccine push.
Woah is it really? I wonder if it helps prevent it as I now take 1g of it every single day Lol
Taken from Wiley.com:
Based on the herein discussed mechanistic premises, NAC may be proposed both in the prevention and in the therapy of COVID-19. In particular, the oral administration of NAC, at the dose of 600 mg twice daily, may be proposed for preventive purposes aimed at attenuating the risk of developing COVID-19 and its severity during epidemic periods, as we previously demonstrated in the case of influenza and influenza-like illnesses,47 especially in elderly people and in individuals who suffer from chronic conditions that predispose them to this kind of diseases and increase their severity. Persons who have been in proximity of infected SARS-CoV-2 carriers, including those detected by means of smartphone contact tracing apps, may be an additional target for taking oral NAC in order to decrease the risk of developing COVID-19.
In addition, NAC has been shown to exert protective mechanisms against a variety of conditions associated with COVID-19 and co-morbidities thereof, also including cardiovascular diseases.16
It seems like most places dropped it right away. I had trouble finding it. I just scored some from NutraBio. They have it in powder and caps. It is not included in there Memorial Day sale however.
I use it all the damn time now I love the taste of it that much. I put it in the Peptopro drinks I make with the Dextrose and it makes it taste like a Sweet & Sour sweet Lol
Sweat and sulfur maybe. You trying to make the worst tasting drink possible? I’m using the Peptopro right at the end of my workouts, it’s like you can’t even taste the dextrose but I’m probably old putting in about 60 grams.
Did you get the Tropical flavour and are adding the whole lot to about 150 to 200ml of water?
They didn’t have that flavor from the company I got it from. I got fruit punch. I also got it through Amazon which made it a little cheeper, but I couldn’t make it with triple flavoring through them. It’s bitter, but I’ll drink about anything if you tell me it will make me stronger or more muscular lol.
Any protein that has been Hydrolysed unfortunately tastes bitter - thats why the flavouring needs to be just right with the right amount of Dextrose. I can imagine the fruit punch is similar to the Berry flavour from Bulk and is pretty tough to drink. That Tropical one I use is the only one that I can drink tonnes of and actually enjoy it.
Its up to you - But I would still drink Whey Isolate after a workout and then the Pepto before bed with it being Casein. The whey digests faster and you are ready to eat quicker where as the Casein digests through the night even though it is Hydro. Thats how I do it :-)
Looking at a chart from an article on bodybuilding.com. Blood plasma levels of the Hydrolyzed casein aminos spiked almost a quickly and just as high and stayed elevated high for much longer. Lately I’ve been pounding the intra workout aminos about 15 minutes into my workout then I switch to 30 grams Hydrolyzed whey 25 minutes later for that spike to peek while I’m still working out and with 3 sets to go I slam the Hydrolyzed casein with dextrose figuring I’m done lifting before my body starts using the dextrose and getting a second amino peek from that so I’m hopefully riding one big amino wave for hours and I can eat solid food that much sooner so I’m not eating my dinner too late
Bud you do whatever works best for you!! See I cannot even drink BCAA's during training as it would make me feel nauseous - I have 2 drinks by my side which is fruit cordial & dextrose with creatine and then Lucozade and dextrose. Then I have 50g Whey Isolate straight after then normally about 20 mins from then an egg on toast then Dinner 2 hours later. Then I hammer the casein, I don't have to work to a time schedule luckily so can eat and drink till I want no more. & Still a light fucker!! :( Although I have got a bit heavier lately ...
Putting on weight, that’s great! Getting older has some benefits, very few, but some. A little easier to put on weight is one of them. Hopefully it’s just your diet, your pretty young yet in this game, just hitting your prime!
Tbh mate its been because I've been trying to on purpose. Staying up more hours in the day and getting in 1 or 2 extra meals even if they are small. I stayed off the tren also and found that increased appetite too massively, only downside is I've noticed recovery times are Nowhere near being on tren. I mean probably double the time and even then the fibres are nowhere near as strong when healed. But funny thing is I've had people saying you look really well lately because of the added weight and I guess the tren frown has gone also LOL
Goal is 210lb's - nearly there Lol
Good work bro! Maybe that’s the key. Cycle off it for a while then come back on and then off again to add even more weight, then smash PRs:)
Hope everything goes well today Pal - I am rooting for ya
Similar thing happened to rice yeast I believe, a pharmaceutical company brought the active ingredient’s rights (or something) and patented it meaning the supplement sold today doesn’t lower cholesterol like it used to as it’s not longer allowed to contain the compound which works.
Thanks for the heads up I’m going to buy 9 kilos of NAC to keep myself and my blood line in good supply.
I recall reading something about that a while back. Also considering a bulk order myself.
RustyhookerSo the regular joes become yet more of a bunch of outlaws as NAC will move underground. Just to be healthier.....
Molinin302I dunno man, there's always more to the story. I don't run harsh stuff, and very rarely use OTC pain meds. Milk thistle does keep me in check. If we're debating ethics or motive, banning NAC, but still sell syringes? I just don't know. There's weird stuff going on. My BP meds cost basically nothing, but even with a prescription (TRT), syringes and needles are still cheaper from Amazon. Things are getting weird my fellas, and for the record I know guys that are in recovery using supplements for liver health. The conversations never got specific and I don't like to pry, but they're drunks and IV drug users, and they actually take supplements for liver health. No shit.
I guess ultimately they know people are buying it to offset the side effects and damage of steroids, I can't see many alcoholics etc buying it to keep them healthy as its something they don't think about. Then you could argue that fuels people doing steroids more as they know NAC keeps them safer. TUDCA will be next to be taken off just watch ....
The explanation, at least as printed in the article, is a bit ambiguous- "FDA last year asserted in warning letters that NAC couldn’t be lawfully marketed in dietary supplements because it was first studied as a drug in 1963." Is it because its considered a "drug"? Is it because it hasn't been researched by the FDA in 58 years? Not sure of the rational here.
I guess because they know its predominantly bought by Bodybuilders also they connect it with drug use - I mean damn look at how many of these people consider Creatine as a dodgy drug still Lol
I must admit I was extremely surprised when I found out you could get Tudca on amazon & Ebay - I thought that would be viewed by them as very taboo ....
It works really well to break the chain of addiction too. A doctor recommended it to a friend of mine who has a problem with adderol
Are my messages getting through to you bud?
Yes. Super busy over the last week and a half. It it will be a little long winded. I’ll probably get time tomorrow. Maybe even tonight.
Okey Dokey pal :-)))
