have not lifted in over a year, should I start with creatine?
I have not lifted consistently or at all for over a year now. I'm only just now getting back into lifting. I'm 2 weeks in and I know I'm supposed to feel like hell all over but I don't believe it should be this extreme.
I've done a couple cycles and because of crippling depression I lost all my gains and didn't leave my home very much at all.
My question is whether or not I should start using some creatine, once a day, to supplement my workouts and hopefully recover faster.
I've spent the last thirty minutes browsing bodybuilding and google with absolutely no results. Please, share some of your insight with me. I know this is probably not the greatest first post or the best place to ask but any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I've been told I should not use creatine until I get back to where I used to be years ago in terms of strength. They had no evidence or any reasoning to back this up.

AnonAaaaaaannnnnndddddd, he's gone.
Sad go train, mad go train, feeling great go train, on cycle go train, not on cycle go train.. See a pattern here. Supplements are worth maybe 5% at best as the results promised. If your diet is as it should be you are probably getting plenty of creatine. If you use a preworkout with creatine then you are getting plenty. Too much creatine is hard on the kidneys, makes you hold water and can cause cramping.
I also agree with below. If you have ran previous cycles without proper pct your natural testosterone levels maybe low causing you to feel depressed. Guys younger then 25 should not use steroids as the body may not be fully developed. Hopefully you have not caused permanent damage to your HPTA. Go see a doctor and get your testosterone, FSH and LH levels checked. That will tell you if you are natural testosterone production is shut down. Do not try to go about fixing this on your own.
Didn't get the adv tag for nothing. Great reply.
Thanks man. Hopefully it helps this guy out or any else that sees this post.
Wham-o
lenkodefinitely appreciate the feedback. thank you everyone. I know I need to just suck it up and just deal with it. my last cycle had a specific extra to it and the thing crystalized. I tried slowly heating it up and the crystals disappeared. but I don't think I've ever recovered from that at all. I'm going to be going to a pcp and getting a full panel and figure out if anything is really low.
Oh I see you're 24 and have done a couple cycles already. Perhaps you should go get some blood work done to see if you're fully recovered. If it's as extreme as your saying you might want to think about it..
Other then that.. suck it up buttercup put your head down and plow through it, there's no magic pill or powder bro. Just good old fashioned hard work.
This ^^
Get some bloods done mate and good luck!
The first month always sucks bro.. creatine is cheap enough and might help a little with muscle water etc but as far as healing goes rest and protein are your friend bro.. Whole foods are best but you could try some casein before bed to keep protein and amino acids flowing while you rest.. maybe get some bcaa for before and after you work out..I think that would help more.. good luck man
You know the saying, "no pains, no gains". I had to do this several times from an injury. It sucks but you would be surprised how fast you can get back where you left off with hard work and dedication. Good luck to you.
Better u spend your money for good food !
I would agree with Juicebox, it probably wont hurt anything but just get a good diet and routine going. Im just getting back at it after a couple month layoff myself and my muscles are sore too. Im also not going crazy with weight. Definitely not throwing the 130lbs dumbells around. And probably wont be for awhile until my body gets accustomed again. You just need to ease back into it. You're using muscles that haven't been worked in a year. They need time. Stay hydrated, maybe try some glutamine and just stick with it.
X2
AnonCan't say it would hurt but can't say it would help either, establishing a good diet and routine would be most important because feeling like hell at first is just part of the game. Good on you for getting back in to it, don't get discouraged and stay motivated.
