How to suppress appetite? It's insatiable.
I'm cruising right now and taking in ~5,200 calories ( 600g carbs roughly ) on training days. This is a pretty solid caloric excess for me the strength gains are coming slow even cruising... very slow but still there. My bodyfat is also probably at 13% - higher than I'd like it's been going up slowly. Problem is - I'm still hungry as all hell at night. Throughout the day I'm getting enough down to keep the hunger at bay on 7 meals but I could definitely eat more with ease. If I don't eat carbs before bed I can't sleep it's a pain in the ass. I can eat 8 oz of chicken breast a huge salad a handful of almonds and be hungry in 30 minutes because of the absence of carbs, feels like I ate next to nothing stomach rumbling and all. I don't understand it. It also may be worth mentioning I do go mildly hypoglycemic ( low 70's ) if I go 3-4 hours without a meal, supposedly I'm "pre-diabetic". I would imagine this is correlated somehow.... I never go that long ( 3-4 hours ) without a meal anymore but it used to happen all the time before I knew what was going on, thought it was just bad anxiety when I was younger.
When eating my preworkout meal, I literally walk out the door right after I finish the last bite or I'll get hungry mid workout and crash, my gym is only 15 mins away lol. Carb sources are almost exclusively organic/non GMO rices and whole rolled oats, I do use weight gainer in the morning ( waxy maize/some dextrose/maltodextrin ) but only have been for a few weeks my appetite was like this before I ever touched it.
.....and EQ is supposed to be in my next run starting whenever my gear lands. Starting to think I'm going to end up a complete fatass by the end.
So my question is, how can you suppress your appetite - especially later in the day? Obviously any sort of stimulant is out of the question because the problem is going to sleep at night.
Any input/experience would be greatly appreciated... I'd strongly prefer to avoid pharmaceuticals like ambien or xanax either because of the dependency problem

I used the best appetite suppressant and successfully lost 10 lbs in two weeks. If I took the appetite suppressant, I would not feel hungry for a long time, which was very different from previous diet.
RustyhookerOne sign of dehydration is carb craving. Just tossing out ideas. On eq the appetite is the whole enchilada. Many clean meals and grow. Anavar killed most of my appetite on eq so big clean meals were easy.
Can't you nibble some fruit? Cardio 30mins after each workout to keep fat off.
BigBmajMaybe a sweet potato before bed would help. Or just get used to hunger, it's really not that bad once you get used to it.
You could take something to help regulate blood sugar. Like alpha lipoic acid, there are many things, just google it.
AnonNever tried taking anything for it like alpha lipoic I'll look into it
I'm in the same boat. I was trying to cut and all of a sudden I hit a point where I couldn't eat enough. I finally said fuck it. My body is telling me something so I started increasing my calories and carbs. However, I can't seem to find a balance. I'm always friggen hungry. I eat and half hour later I want more. We need to listen to our bodies but I also want to cut for a few more weeks so I need a way to tell my body to shut the fuck up lmao
Let me know if you figure it out.
AnonDon't suppress it bro. Feed it. Casein shake with yogurt or cottage cheese. 30minutes before bed. That's my late night snack.
But during the day If u need extra carbs and its not in ur meal plan drink some karbolyn or another carb supp drink
AnonTried! My stomach tears apart any protein and fat source without carbs. Whey protein, Caseine, cottage cheese, nuts - doesn't matter have to have the damn carbs.... I realize most people don't NEED carbs to sleep, I'm assuming it has something to do with me being "pre" diabetic.
I'm going to try the a.m. / p.m. flip. Perhaps it's not as optimal for maximal fat burning but as long as I can stay around 11-12% BF and can actually freakin sleep I'll be good. Appreciate the advice but I tried it already! lol
ClassyChassisI don't eat carbs upon rising. Just some protein and a little fat. I stay in fat-burning mode in the AM. Since my blood sugar isn't rising or falling, I don't get tired or hungry. You could also use stims in the morning if that's helpful since it won't interfere with sleep. I eat about 50g carbs pre-workout to keep cortisol at bay. Then I eat another 100g post-workout to replenish muscle glycogen. A couple hours later I'll have a regular meal with complex carbs and then a couple hours later, some more complex carbs. I sleep like a baby.
Screw trying to go to bed with your stomach growling. It's just more of the nonsense foisted upon people. The only reason not to eat carbs at night would be to inhibit insulin, which would facilitate greater nocturnal hGH release. If that's not your goal, then tell me how on earth it matters.
If you need liver or muscle glycogen, then that's where the carbs are going. If you don't, they are going to fat. End of story. Those are the only places carbs can go. The only thing timing has to do with it is, "Are your muscle glycogen stores empty or full?" The time of day has nothing to do with it. Just the condition of your glycogen stores. Unless, like I said, you are trying to inhibit insulin.
So I restrict carbs early in the day, when I can use stims and am already in fat-burning mode from my nightly fast. I keep carbs mainly around workouts where they belong, so they go to the purpose I want them to. By not eating carbs all night and into the next day my insulin sensitivity improves as well.
I realize other people may have different beliefs. I have given you the rationale for mine. If it makes sense to you, use it.
AnonThat made a lot of since.... I don't know why the hell I didn't think about just having my carbs later in the day and fewer earlier. Switching my a.m. and p.m.
I've got a new schedule with school right started last week ( classes between 11-8 depending on the day ). So the idea was to get up earlier ( which I hate anyways ) train earlier ( which I also hate doing ) and get most of my carbs in early to leave the latter half of the day free of large amounts of carbs, sort of like Vikings advice except not so extreme. Just less carbs not zero carbs. But therein lies the sleep issue.
Damn now I'm going to have to go rework my whole meal schedule lol. It's difficult to fit 7 meals in on school days taking a fair amount of prep.
Thanks for the reply it made a lot of sense, and since I like training and eating later in the day anyways it's perfect.
Give them a vote if you find it helpful.Permalinktren a
AnonIf tren is suppressing your appetite.... it's probably because you're getting toxic. Tren increases my appetite.
I guess I'm overstating saying it suppress, it somehow curbed carb cravings for me though..I wanted protein like crazy
