+ 5 Pre-cycle bloods; Cause for Concern with EQ cycle?

ad

I am starting an EQ cycle so I got some pre-cycle bloods for a baseline. Based upon these results, should I be donating blood ASAP to reduce some of these levels. BP is fine 122/74 but I am somewhat concerned about the elevated RBC,HCT and HGB. Would donating blood help lower these and help prevent any complications arising during my EQ cycle?

Women often have anemia because of their monthly blood loss. Men have the opposite problem we build up excess iron (hemoglobin) and on cycle RBC goes up. To fix it donating blood is the way to go. Follow the Dr.'s instructions on how often to donate blood.

Frustrates me that almost every cereal out there comes with a huge dose of iron, I have eat the fancy stuff to avoid all the ground up metal they put in every other cereal in the isle.

And what will that do to blood?

Looks like I will be donating some blood some. I have never done it before. I have heard things like donating double RBC, is there a certain type of donation that is more beneficial in reducing my high numbers?

Would low dose aspirin help any of those values?

Just give whole blood. If you give double reds then you will not be able to give blood for 16wks. With whole blood you can give again in 8wks. If your mid cycle bloods show things are elevated again then you can give double reds. Usually when guys give double reds it during cycle or after cycle not before.

Just made an appt. online for next week.

I always give double reds when my RBC gets over 5.8 or my hematocrit gets above 50, easy process, usually half way through my cycle I am over the limits again, so I go to a different clinic and get double reds again.

What taking aspirin does is it keeps blood cells from clumping or sticking together. It helps with preventing clots.

So it would just help with thinning it. The numbers wouldn't change.

It's a misconception that it thins blood. It just keeps cells from sticking together and forming clots. It slows blood clotting. High levels of Hgb and Hct increases the thickness or viscosity of the blood. This can be associated with higher risk of thrombus or clot formation leading to strokes, heart attacks and pulmonary embolism. Look up Polycythemia.

What can also throw the numbers off and up is dehydration like Pale Rider mentioned. When your dehydrated your blood vessels shrink and plasma volume drops. So when blood is drawn it is more concentrated giving the impression that your RBC is high when it really is not there's just less liquid (plasma)due to the dehydration. This is relative polycythemia.

If you live at altitude like CB does or smoke the body compensates for lack of oxygen by increasing these numbers. It's called physiologic polycythemia
The medical term for it is Secondary polycythemia

You need to change your name to the "Blood Guru". Thanks for your all your help.

I've got similar levels, and have donated blood twice now. I plan on donating every 8 weeks, regardless of cycles. Aspirin is probably not a bad move, my dr said It wouldn't be a bad idea for me. He didn't dwell on it much. I took 1 baby aspirin a day while my levels were real high, but dropped it after my last blood donation. Don't take aspirin while taking HCG, Dr Scally just did a post about some negative sides by mixing the drugs.

As far as giving blood, my charity does not offer custom donations, everyone gives the same 500ml and can do it every 8 weeks.

I have been donating whole blood every 2 months for a while now, really helps, don't want that blood too thick, and you are helping another! Takes 15 minutes, no big deal.

His hemaglobin and hematocrit or both out of range. Go give blood Makwa. It will lower your #'s before you start.

your hct and hgb are still in the normal ranges and your rbc isn't crazy high 4.32-5.72 is considered normal. probably wouldn't hurt to give blood tho if its been awhile and itll lower your rbc anyways.

each lab has it's own reference range, hemoglobin, crit are high for this lab.
Donating blood is a quick and easy way to knock those numbers down, so do it pre cycle and perhaps mid and post cycle too.

MegaT will have to chime in but what he told me was that the elevated RBC was likely from being a bit dehydrated in the morning. If you look at all my bloods I was just a touch high on every test I have taken. That being said, I have already decided I will be avoiding EQ.
