Cholesterol lowering supplements

ad

Hey. Wondering which supplements lower cholesterol significantly.
I'm taking CoQ10 and 5-7grams fish oil every day so far. My MD wants me on Crestor, but I don't want to go that route. My diet got me into this, so my diet should get me out of this. Been eating much cleaner.
I need to bump my bad cholesterol way down before I even begin my first ever cycle.
Anything else I should add to the mix? As far as cardio, I'm running 2.5 miles every other day.
Any solid advice is really appreciated.

Popular cholesterol-lowering supplement is red yeast rice. Red yeast rice lowers cholesterol as much as prescription statins — without dangerous side effect. The Chinese have been using this safe, natural food product against heart problems and other ailments for more than 1,000 years, and now science backs up ancient wisdom. Studies in the U.S. and China show that red yeast rice can cut LDL (bad) cholesterol by 18-32% in just 8 weeks while rising or maintaining HDL (good) cholesterol.

CoQ10 daily. It bonds to the transfats that creates the cholesterol. I'm not certain if it breaks them down or allows them to be filtered out. It not only bonds to free floating transfats, but also the transfats that have become lodged in the veins.
I was told this by a Dr. recently. I took CoQ10 a few years ago when I was first starting out and trying to shred a lot of fat, i dropped 35lbs. I haven't touched it since and grabbed another bottle about a month ago. Can't say that I can tell a difference at this point, but I'm in much better shape now that I was then too. I also haven't had my cholesterol checked in a couple of years.

I started looking into this and it seems that any products containing more than 10mgs per dosage are considered unapproved drugs by the FDA. The RYR that I'm taking by Now claims to have "only natural levels of monacolin K".

eating as clean as you can will always help most, but I have noticed the best results from CoQ10 and niacin. both are available everywhere and are extremely easy to use. don't be alarmed when u heat up from niacin tho, haha its normal at times. Also make sure ur keeping a decent amount of cardio in your regiment. I also like taking armourV as a multivitamin, its a great multivitamin with added green complex.

The best (sofar) is Niacin. not nicacinamide though, plain niacin or flush-free niacin. Not the delayed release variety either. It is so good in fact, that drug companies have tried to change it very slightly and patent it, selling it for who knows how much more. It not only lowers LDL cholesterol, but it raises HDL Cholesterol. NO DRUG has ever shown to be that beneficial! It lowers triglycerides as well (the fat in your bloodstream), as well as slowly correcting your lipid metabolic pathways. 3 grams daily of niacin is the usual prescribed dose by orthomolecular physicians. I study nutritional medicine.

Some people have reported good results with Red Palm Oil as well. I haven't done much research into it but it seems very beneficial.
Also make sure you are taking in some good quality Omega 3s as well. Don't worry about the Omega 6 and 9. You get plenty of that in your diet.

Red Yeast Rice and CoQ10 daily. Cut back on alcohol and use cardio for durance over intensity.

Red yeast rice. 2000mg daily. Make sure you use CoQ10 along with it since it depletes your body’s natural supply.

Turkesterone peddlers tend to state that it can l raise good cholesterol levels.
2 tbsps of Olive oil and Almonds will give you plenty of plant sterols.

What meats are you eating? Butters? Oils?

flacidego's picture

Grass fed organic beef...about a pound a week, fish (salmon, tilapia, catfish) and chicken.
I do eat butter, but sparingly. I have a jar of raw coconut oil I cook with when I don't use olive oil. Sometimes I eat a tablespoon of it in the mornings when I feel I need more fat.

Word, I would try to, maybe a couple days a week, transition away from meats. There are some alternatives to help you replace a meal or two. Seitan is my favorite. Also, if you can juice, I would definitely recommend it. When I was 22 a doc tried prescribing me some cholesterol meds. I skipped the pills, cut meat out for a while, juiced my ass off and 6 months later my numbers were beyond legit. Since then, I'm still a veggie but I'm not telling you that you need to be vegetarian to have good cholesterol. Our bodies produce cholesterol, there are a ton of factors that can cause blockage and solidify cholesterol in the arteries causing other issues. I think, with effort, you can find a balance that works for you. Pm me if you want some meat alternatives. Good luck bro.

I do juice sporadically...I could get more use out of that $300 juicer...true...true. I'll look into some cholesterol lowering juice recipes. Thanks for reminding me of the power of juice! Seitan is pure wheat gluten. I'll pm you for some other alternatives. Thanks.
